The Square Tree house is a beautiful and centrally located guest house that is exceptional value for money. Set on a quiet street opposite Princess Park, it is a short walk to Sefton Park and the bars and restaurants of Lark Lane. The city centre is 20/25 walk away. Outside on street parking is widely available and free.
Most impressive was the attention to detail in the room/ensuite - everything has been thought about to make your stay comfortable. There was a range of good quality toiletries and a selection of teas and coffees were provided. The room was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and overlooked a beautiful garden.
Breakfast was tasty and consisted of a range of quality fresh items. The owner John was most hospitable and went above and beyond during our stay. Covid measures are in place to keep guests safe.

Me and my partner stayed for two nights. I can highly recommend staying here!
The room was very neat and tidy, well stocked including nice shampoos and shower cream, and with a comfortable bed overlooking a large Georgian style sash window with a view of all the key landmarks in Liverpool (in the sunset).
John is very hospitable and served excellent breakfast with locally sourced, freshly baked bread!

Perfect place from which to explore Liverpool. Tempting to repeat other reviews which have described the place so well ("Oasis"!) Our host was friendly and knowledgeable with helpful tips and advice as required. The room was large and comfortable with everything we needed, no superfluous flim flam and, being on the top floor, a view of the famous cathedrals. Breakfast was exceptional. We'd love to stay again some time.

First stay in Liverpool, room was very spacious, beautiful bedding on the bed, furniture was classic, bathroom/shower very good and toiletries provided. Robes and slippers provided although we didn't actually use them.
Breakfast very good and more than adequate.
The host is really what makes this B&B more special, John is a hive of local knowledge and anything we needed was attended to in an instant.
Only a short distance from the city centre and all the main attractions and you can walk but local taxis are cheap.
Will most definitely return!

We spent a couple of busy days in Liverpool, visiting family and enjoying the museums and galleries after all the months of lockdown. It was a joy to return in the evening to the calm and welcome of Square Tree House, not far from the hustle and bustle of the city – and at the same time – a million miles away. It’s a lovely period building and the rooms are carefully furnished in style, with a modern twist and uncluttered elegance. The high corniced ceilings and tall windows give a real sense of space and light.
John gave us a warm welcome and fabulous breakfast of poached duck egg/salmon, coping amazingly with some dietary needs with no notice – apologies. We highly recommend this little oasis.

I cannot recommend this lively B&B highly enough! We spent two nights on a university re-union trip that was made all the more delightful by the welcome & personal attention we received from John and his wife.
The room was large and comfy and the en suite bathroom a real pleasure to use - everything was decorated and furnished in keeping with the relaxed, funky atmosphere.
We walked everywhere fuelled by a generous and delicious breakfast.

This is a charming B&B within walking distance of the centre of Liverpool, with on street parking and WiFi. We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting an open day at the University of Liverpool and highly recommend this as a great place to stay. John is an excellent host. He provided really useful tips for the local area, including dining recommendations. The rooms are large and very nicely furnished. If you are looking for a travelodge style accommodation - stay elsewhere - this is comfortable, quirky and unique. Breakfast was a good continental style breakfast with coffee/tea, juice, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cold meats and cold eggs. Hot toast and croissant with jam/honey /Nutella were also provided which gave us all enough options to enjoy.

Our third visit - we are so comfortable here and love the location. It’s just outside the city centre but an easy bus or taxi ride to the station or shopping.
John and Frances are charming hosts and they really look after you. The room we stayed in was spacious and furnished with one of a kind pieces, mainly mid century modern. The bathroom has everything you need and the bed is comfortable and made with high quality linens.
My husband had a ticket to the Liverpool match at Anfield so I decided to come with him and make a weekend of it. Before the game we enjoyed a walk in nearby Sefton Park where we visited the magnificent Palm House, and a stroll along the hip and happening Lark Lane - so many attractive bars, restaurants and cafes.
The next day we visited the Walker Art Gallery and had a delicious dinner at Belzan (as suggested by John and Frances). You can’t go wrong following their recommendations — starting with John’s cute and useful hand-drawn map. Which is how we discovered the Queens Arms a friendly pub just down the road from the hotel where we wrapped up our weekend.

A pleasant stay next to Princes Park in Liverpool. The host was extremely friendly and gave us lots of helpful tips and advice. The room was large and had all of the basics needed. We had a great stay and a nice buffet style breakfast with coffee.

Rooms bog standard.
Shocking breakfast and seems to be on a ration. Nothing hot. Strange mix of 'buffet' from chinese vegetables to 1 cold hard boiled egg to half a slice of ham.
Not to be visited again.

Hello and Hi,
Yes and Yes. We do not have a conventional on street sign being in a conservation area. However we do have a tree in the front garden which is topiaried in a square shape. The new name helps guests find the property quicker.
