The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Liverpool garners appreciation for its prime location, close to attractions and the waterfront. However, guests frequently express dissatisfaction with the outdated and sometimes dirty rooms. While the breakfast and staff attentiveness receive praise, the spa and heating issues are points of contention.
The hotel's ambiance is marred by noise disturbances, and service quality appears to fluctuate. Cleanliness is generally upheld in rooms and bathrooms, but some inconsistencies are noted. Loud noises often disrupt sleep, and many guests feel the hotel does not provide good value for money.

If you visit Liverpool at the weekend at Xmas , for a lovely little treat with your children, don’t stay at the Double Tree Hilton , Liverpool, Me and my Daughter and two grandchildren stayed here Saturday night, and right Below our room a Xmas party, Now, bearing in mind it cost £330 for the night, the noise was horrendous, we could actually here the words to the music in our room, phoned reception and was offered ear plugs, saying we couldn’t be moved, but if they had been aware of children when booking , we would have been given a quieter room, but may I add, when booking you have to fill in children’s ages ???? This went on till 12.30 am, it was awful, especially what we paid.

At check in the receptionist was very friendly and the welcome cookie was delicious. When we first entered our room it looked lovely but felt like a sauna, we tried to open the window to cool the room down a bit before setting the aircon at a cooler more comfortable temperature to find they were all sealed shut ( I understand you don't want to risk people jumping out but the ability to just let fresh air in would be helpful) so instead we had to wait for the aircon to cool the room down which took a while. Also the clear glass in the bedroom window made me glad it was the weekend so the building opposite was empty otherwise we would have had to keep the blind shut completely. The fire alarm at 3:30 am was not the hotels fault but an apology for the false alarm (even just a verbal one when we arrived for breakfast) would have been appreciated. As others have said the pillows were extremely soft but we asked for some more and they were much firmer. The mattress was comfortable even if I did feel like I was at sea when my husband rolled over in the night. When our room was serviced I assume they rolled the towels back up that we had hung up which was fine however they left the flannel we put in the bath to be replaced and removed the other one but didn't replace it, they didn't stock up the tea and sugar and took our second room card. The large bath was lovely but it looked like the cover was missing off the overflow. Breakfast was an interesting experience, the selection was very good and the choice of eggs great however the machine that dispenses hot water wasn't hot enough and left a film on top of the water. We didn't use the spa facilities as we felt £25pp for an hour was a bit expensive.

My wife and I stayed here overnight with a friend from the USA who was a Hilton Gold member.
We were all very pleased with our stay and did not experience any of the negativity that other reviewers have noted.
Conny the (multi-tasking!) Reception Manager managed our mid-day check in very efficiently providing us with the King Superior Room with a walk in Shower that we had requested. Our guest knew of the 'cookie store' from his stays in the US, which we enjoyed also! He was provided with complimentary drinks given his Gold status.
Leaving our luggage in the luggage store was easy and the hotel summoned a taxi that arrived in 10-15 minutes.
When we returned in the evening our room was ready and it was very clean, well appointed with smart furniture and spacious enough. We had a huge walk in shower.
We ate in the hotel's Koukash restaurant which we really enjoyed. We sampled every item from their Tapas selection and enjoyed all of them.
The Bar / Restaurant experience was much nicer than many chain hotel restaurants . The staff were friendly, engaging and attentive. It was a very enjoyable dining experience.
The choice at breakfast was extensive, probably one of the most varied range of good quality food that I have come across in a hotel. The breakfast staff too were very friendly and engaging with all guests as they arrived.
Our checkout experience was similar to our arrival and very good.
We were very pleased with our stay and I left with the impression of a smart, well run hotel with really engaged staff.
We would definitely return if we visited Liverpool again and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to our friends.

The hotel is located close to Moorfields station with a short walk to the city centre and many car parks nearby. The hotel has a deal with the NCP Liverpool Moorfields car park.
There was a queue for check in which we had to wait in for a while but this could be avoided with having more check in desks. The staff at check in were really nice and friendly and we were offered warm cookies which were really yummy.
We stayed on the sixth floor which was a bit inconvenient as after getting the lift to the sixth floor you had to walk two flights of stairs to get to our room.
The room itself was nice but very cold and the heating was broken.
The breakfast was very disappointing. There was a range of choice but the food itself wasn’t very good. I had the English breakfast and they had only just refilled the mushrooms, however the mushrooms were stone cold, the tomatoes were also lukewarm. The staff at breakfast were really nice but we didn’t return again for the rest of our trip as the breakfast was very disappointing.
We got told that the rooms only got cleaned from 3pm onwards which was a bit annoying but when they were cleaned it was ok.
There are lots of nicer hotels in Liverpool so personally I wouldn’t stay here again.

The worst Hilton I've ever been to. Stale, musty, cramped and dirty.
All windows are sealed, the rooms haven't had fresh air in decades and it smells that way.
The spa looked rank and costs £25/hour per person.
Nowhere near worth the money, book somewhere else

Me and my partner were really looking forward to this but we feel let down by the experience. First we arrived and my room wasn't ready the room that we got giving looked nothing like then room in the pictures I booked. it was also very warm and the air con wasn't workin. We got moved rooms to the other side of the hotel which was a bit of a walk from the lift up and down stairs from the lifr. First night we couldn't sleep for the noise as outside the window was a gay bar with load music on until the early hours we were very un happy with this. Secondly when we went to the bar the draught beers were disgusting the pipes are cleaned proper we were told by a bar man your better with bottled drinks as the do nor clean them properly. We decided on some cocktails only to witness the bar man pour drinks then proceed to drink thr remains straight out the shaker infront of customers its very unprofessional and over priced. Overall my stay was a shambles and feel very let down for the price I paid and most definitely will not be booking with any hilton again because of this.

Dear Z2103WBpaulm, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm truly sorry to hear that your stay was affected by the air conditioner and the noise from the bar next door. We understand how important a comfortable and quiet environment is for our guests, and I apologize that we did not meet those expectations during your visit. While we cannot control external noise, we should have done more to ensure your comfort, such as offering a room change or other solutions. I booked my clients to this hotel, and they were NOT happy. Here is their account: Upon entering the hotel, the atmosphere was stuffy, warm, and not very clean. When they reached their assigned room, they found it to be stuffy and hot despite the air-conditioning being on, it was blowing warm air. The client called the front desk for maintenance assistance to fix the air conditioning.
The duty manager went up to the room and assured the guests that the air-conditioning was working, despite blowing warm air instead of cold, even though the settings were correct. Then, the client requested another room with working air conditioning, but once again, it was blowing warm air. The duty manager explained that it was due to the old building.
Upon leaving the hotel, the client asked the receptionist if there were any rooms with functioning air conditioning, to which she responded negatively. Consequently, the clients had to find alternative accommodation, which was highly inconvenient. The hotel refuses to refund the clients for a night they did not use at this hotel. The photos on their website is nothing like the hotel.

Have stayed here a couple of times before but I feel the room conditions are deteriorating with every stay. Walked into the room and first thing you notice is the curtains have some hooks off the line. Go into the bathroom and some towels are missing. Housekeeping were asked to do another room midway through doing our room and was coming back to finish. Reception looks like they took it upon themselves to say the room was ready.
The room WiFi is rubbish. Speedtest shows it is running at 0.41mbps. A second run improved to a mighty 0.68mbps…….pathetic really!! For a so called premium brand hotel chain, it’s embarrassing
Tried to call reception and although the room phone is plugged in and connected, the phone does not work. Could be a safety problem.
On the plus side, the cookie is as good as ever!

Myself and husband stayed here for 3 night. This hotel is beautiful and so glad we picked this for location rooms food. Reception, we were booked in so quickly and as far as I’m aware there is an older part of the hotel and a newer part, we were in the older part and it was lovely. Rooms, our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable, my only very small gripe was that we over looked a side street and we heard bottles being emptied and loud noise from outside but this is not the hotels fault, hasn’t put us off going back. The shower was amazing and so strong, could have stood in there all day. Restaurant, we had breakfast each morning and I have to say both breakfast chefs have got to be the friendliest chefs I have ever met and I have met a lot ( due to the job I have ) the food there had everything you could have asked for in breakfast, the chef also made fresh eggs in whatever kind you wanted. Location, the location was absolutely perfect although we seemed to get lost each night coming home due to so many different street but it’s within a 5 min walk to the main part and 15 min to the docks. I would suggest booking this as late as you are able to as what we paid for it for booking in advance was expensive, if we had booked maybe 4 weeks before we would have saved around £200 so if you can hold off booking early.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will return when we are back in Liverpool, thank you for a lovely stay

The hotel is in a great location. The hotel itself has no parking but you can park at the NCP Moorfields for a reduced rate of £12 per 24 hours, which is very good for city centre parking.
I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and I was upgraded to a King Suite which was very nice.
The taps in the room were loose, the plug sockets next to the bed didn’t work.
I’m the Hilton Website it shows you get Elimis toiletries which I was really looking forward to but instead you get the crappy make. I questioned this with the duty manager & he said that it’s just the Spa that use Elimis. I advised that they are online and he said that a guest must have uploaded the pictures. I showed him that they are on the Hilton website and he said that Elimis would just be in the suites, I was in a suite and still no Elimis.
I had breakfast and that was very nice, good selections and an egg chef to cook your omelettes etc. The hash browns were perfect.
I treated myself to the spa and was really looking forward to going but didn’t stay long as the vitality pool had not been cleaned for MONTHS. It was absolutely FILTHY. I did get my money back which I was glad about. One tip that I will give you, before paying, go and check out the cleanliness of it first.
Most of the lockers where you can put your items were broken as well. Not what you would expect from a DoubleTree by Hilton brand.

I'm in agreement with the answer above... I would call the hotel re bedrooms but, to be honest, I would get breakfast away from the hotel and take in the city's morning atmosphere.

I spoke to the Spa receptionist today who said they are discussing and making arrangements at present, whether or not they have any definite plans yet she didn't know. Best call front desk
