There is a car park right next door which is handy although sadly no discount for guests at the hotel.
The location is OK although ideally I'd like it to be closer to the centre, there really isn't a better hotel closer to the centre in Liverpool.
Staff are definitely the best part of the hotel and every one was friendly and excellent.
I like that they offer a £7.50 bar voucher for each guest if you don't have your room serviced. (obviously only if you're staying more than one night)
Our club room was nice although the blinds aren't blackout and I think a dark room is absolutely essential in a hotel room.
I don't like how the shower and toilet are in the same part of the bathroom and the shower wasn't powerful enough. A good strong shower is also essential in a hotel.
Shampoo and body wash in bottles attached to the wall is ok, but I expect individual bottles in a better class hotel such as this.
Breakfasts are really good. I especially like how the hot food is served rather than a buffet.
Evening dinner is also good although I'd prefer each hotel to have a different menu.
Cocktails are disappointing.
The hotel tries to upsell you to a better room but the deals are poor and as regular Malmaison customers (4th trip this year) special treatment, including room upgrades, for good customers is something we benefit from in other hotels.
Individual gripes - our room had a used milk and hot chocolate sachet on the tea tray which isn't acceptable and anywhere else would have resulted in a voucher for the bar or something else to say sorry. There also wasn't enough milk or tea bags.
Additionally, our room had a nasty hole where the fridge used to be. Apparently they are replacing all the fridges so not only did we have a hole but we had no fridge.
Any sensible person would remove the old fridge only when installing the new one.
I'd go back although I'd try a new hotel closer to the centre if one opens, or better yet a five star hotel which Liverpool desperately needs.
The room was modern, clean and tidy. It had a separate shower and a large bath. The shower controls were very stiff so that made it difficult to move the heat control to avoid being scolded.
The hotel is situated by the waterfront and it’s around a 15-minute walk to the city centre where there’s plenty of shops.
In the main the staff were very polite, friendly and professional. There were a couple of staff that came across more ‘mechanical’ than friendly but it was clear this was their style rather than being rude.
The hotel and a great bar and dining area. Plenty of soft seating and chairs, the barman was extremely friendly and chatty.

The bar had several lagers but a very limited selection of bottled ale (our preference) with none available on our second evening. The restaurant menu was disappointing. It was that of a pub restaurant rather than a mid to high end hotel. There was a wide selection of stodgy high fat food available (burgers, pizza etc.) but little in the way of lighter dishes.
A passable stay, but expensive for what was on offer. Will go elsewhere next time.

After just finishing my breakfast I felt the need to immediately write a review.
Location is great right on the docks and close to everything. Parking is over the road so no issues parking or getting things from the car.
Hotel is modern clean and smells clean!!! Food and drink is lovely and must say I have been to London several times and this was far superior and probably the best breakfast I’ve had in a UK hotel.
What really makes this hotel is the staff from the moment you arrive with the reception staff, the first drink you order and the services at any meal time is exceptional.
I think other hotels should send secret guests here to see how hotel staff should act , as they truly are 5 star, nothing is to much, friendly, helpful and again probably the best inhave experienced in the UK.
This will be the only hotel for us now when visiting Liverpool and this has really made our weekend special.
Bathroom was cold due to radiator not switched on , when we asked reception they advised that they had been switched off for Health and Safety reasons ...really !!
Be warned the adjacent car park not owned by the hotel is very expensive , we parked for 2 nights and it cost £45.00 ...ouch .
Shame nice hotel but we would not return due to the car parking charges next door.
We went to Albert Docks which is about 10 mins walk from hotel and it was lovely with a variety of shops and restaurants and then into city centre again short walking distance. There is also beautiful buildings when walking from hotel to city centre. We chose to eat in restaurant at hotel first night and food was delicious and buffalo chicken is a must try, ambience was lovely and matthew and Izzy looked after us well and were helpful and friendly. Thankyou to the chef's and also bartender for great cocktails.
Breakfast both mornings we were greeted by Ivana in a friendly manner and made us feel welcome. We also got to meet Niamh who greeted us in a friendly manner, breakfast had a great variety of continental and the pineapple was delicious. There is so much to choose from including the hot breakfast which tasted delicious, served quickly and cooked to perfection. Restaurant has a lovely ambience and a lovely start to the day. Callum who was friendly checked us out quickly and efficiently. This hotel is stunning and my husband and I have enjoyed our stay. Thankyou Jordan and your team for a fantastic stay and making us feel welcome. We look forward to our next visit.
The rooms pictures definitely do not look like the room we stayed in.
Overall feel of the hotel is quite sterile and unwelcoming. Not really a fan of the decor, it’s all black and looks unclean. The room is dark: window is tiny and lighting dim. Not decent enough to put make up on for example. The shower is also dark.
No shower over bath, it’s either shower or bath. Bath itself was awkward shape, could not lay back in it. No window in bathroom, no extractor fan.
I did not understand the wording on eco friendly tips, especially the point about “pillow talk.”
Tried to order room service, took ages to get through, when we finally did the receptionist kept pointing me to a “welcome letter” with a QR code on it. We did not have a welcome letter in the room. She was quite rude about this, exhaled frustratedly and said “well you’d better come to the bar then!” I don’t think so. With no menu I simply ordered a drink, which took over an hour to arrive and had to chase twice for it. They did apologise and there was no mention of this on check out, presuming they chose not to charge me.
We opted against breakfast which seemed rather exorbitant at £18 for 1 adult and £9 for a small child who only wanted some juice and a croissant. The breakfast choice was also pretty limited.
The location is not the best, there’s nothing else around it, everything is at least 15 mins walk away. It’s at the wrong end of the docks.
Bath robe read “Clifton arms hotel” ??
Overall felt very cheap and uncomfortable. Would not stay again.
