Malmaison Liverpool stands out for its prime location, often celebrated by guests for easy access to local sights and the riverfront. The rooms earn praise for their cleanliness and comfort, though some guests have noted that the lighting and air conditioning could be updated. The hotel's amenities, including drink vouchers and steak nights, are popular, despite some travelers finding the overall value costly. Exceptional service is a highlight, with the staff's friendliness and professionalism frequently commended. While the atmosphere is generally regarded as stylish, certain areas might benefit from a refresh.

This is our second time staying at this hotel.

There is a car park right next door which is handy although sadly no discount for guests at the hotel.

The location is OK although ideally I'd like it to be closer to the centre, there really isn't a better hotel closer to the centre in Liverpool.

Staff are definitely the best part of the hotel and every one was friendly and excellent.

I like that they offer a £7.50 bar voucher for each guest if you don't have your room serviced. (obviously only if you're staying more than one night)

Our club room was nice although the blinds aren't blackout and I think a dark room is absolutely essential in a hotel room.

I don't like how the shower and toilet are in the same part of the bathroom and the shower wasn't powerful enough. A good strong shower is also essential in a hotel.

Shampoo and body wash in bottles attached to the wall is ok, but I expect individual bottles in a better class hotel such as this.

Breakfasts are really good. I especially like how the hot food is served rather than a buffet.
Evening dinner is also good although I'd prefer each hotel to have a different menu.
Cocktails are disappointing.

The hotel tries to upsell you to a better room but the deals are poor and as regular Malmaison customers (4th trip this year) special treatment, including room upgrades, for good customers is something we benefit from in other hotels.

Individual gripes - our room had a used milk and hot chocolate sachet on the tea tray which isn't acceptable and anywhere else would have resulted in a voucher for the bar or something else to say sorry. There also wasn't enough milk or tea bags.
Additionally, our room had a nasty hole where the fridge used to be. Apparently they are replacing all the fridges so not only did we have a hole but we had no fridge.
Any sensible person would remove the old fridge only when installing the new one.

I'd go back although I'd try a new hotel closer to the centre if one opens, or better yet a five star hotel which Liverpool desperately needs.

Dear Is_This_Ridiculous, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback from your recent stay. Please note all of our Malmaison hotels all carry the same branded Malmaison shower/shampoo and we believe this brings a unique way to Malmaison hotels. As we are a brand we cannot have different menus in all of our hotels however our sister hotel Hotel Du Vin has a different menu that might catch you eye. Regarding the upgrades, we like to offer this option to all of our guests at Malmaison Liverpool as we like to give them the option to do this, as we cannot see your stays in all of the Malmaison's we are not aware of when and who you have previously stayed with. Only in our location. Lastly, regarding the hole you had in your room. Our fridges are stored in a wardrobe, therefore there is no hole only a missing place for the new ones to enter in the future as the gap is for plugs. With the milk and tea bags, we can happily allow to have more in the room all we need for you to do is ask as we can supply you with as much as you would like! I do hope that you visit us again in the future to hopefully experience your stay a little differently. Love Mal xx

We had a 3-night stay and overall it was very good. We were checked-in on arrival and were offered bar vouchers of £7.50pp per day in return for not having our room serviced. However, we could request a change of towels by phoning reception. This was a good option as we didn’t need our room cleaned each day.

The room was modern, clean and tidy. It had a separate shower and a large bath. The shower controls were very stiff so that made it difficult to move the heat control to avoid being scolded.

The hotel is situated by the waterfront and it’s around a 15-minute walk to the city centre where there’s plenty of shops.

In the main the staff were very polite, friendly and professional. There were a couple of staff that came across more ‘mechanical’ than friendly but it was clear this was their style rather than being rude.

The hotel and a great bar and dining area. Plenty of soft seating and chairs, the barman was extremely friendly and chatty.

Just back from a 2 night stay. Arrived early about 11am and was met by a lovely receptionist. Asked if we could store our bags until checkin. She immediately checked to see if a room was available and we were able to access our room early. She also asked if we wished not to have our room serviced in exchange for a bar voucher of £7.50 each and as we were only staying 2 nights we took up this option. The hotel was about a 15 min walk fro the main shopping area. When we returned to the hotel we went to bar hand used our vouchers which was lovely. The bar area is really comfortable and was really nice. We returned to our room to refresh and this is where I take a point off. The room is lovely and modern. It is furbished dark which is nice. Our bathroom had a sink to the left and a tub style bath to the right. Then you go up a step and there is a wet room style shower with the loo. I had to cut my shower very short as the water was not going down the plug hole and started to flood. The water went up over the step and down to the area where the bath and sink were. I had to use all the towels to soak up the water. I explained to the man in reception and he said more towels would be sent up but they weren’t. The next day I mentioned it again to the nice lady who booked us in who sent maintenance up who sorted the matter and she personally brought fresh towels for which we were grateful. Our room didn’t look out over the water but overlooked the roadway but we heard no noise at all from it but the windows could do with a wash as they were filthy. All in all a nice stay but would I stay again, maybe but the shower did put me off.

This is a well maintained modern hotel. Staff were courteous and helpful throughout our visit. I visited with my son and we had booked a twin room. The request for a twin room seemed to cause a little consternation at reception. Our check in was delayed whilst our room was prepared. When we arrived in the room double bed (consisting of two singles) had been made up with single duvets but not split. We pulled the two beds apart only to find that they were pushed back together each time the room was made up.

The bar had several lagers but a very limited selection of bottled ale (our preference) with none available on our second evening. The restaurant menu was disappointing. It was that of a pub restaurant rather than a mid to high end hotel. There was a wide selection of stodgy high fat food available (burgers, pizza etc.) but little in the way of lighter dishes.

A passable stay, but expensive for what was on offer. Will go elsewhere next time.

Dear 196SimonH, Thank you for leaving your feedback regarding your recent stay. As I can see you checked into your room before check in time is guaranteed which is 3pm. Therefore we was preparing you to have an early check in but this might be a little longer due to waiting on housekeeping. When the room is serviced by housekeeping, this is the standard procedure of the the single beds fitting alongside with the head board. However this is easily pushed apart as you mentioned. Regarding the restaurant, we do apologise if you did not enjoy the experience. We will pass this feedback onto the relevant department. Love Mal xx

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location with an outside eating and drinking area overlooking the water and the Liver Building to the right. The room was comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable with feather pillows and duvet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not included in the price, and £21 was a bit steep if you didn't want the full English experience. The interior and the rooms are quite dark, and the decor is a bit of a weird mismatch. The reception area and bar had a carpet that looked like it had seen better days. We were offered a free drink if we didn't want our rooms serviced over the weekend, but we declined. The second morning, the staff forgot to replace sanitary products and milk, both of which were wanted in my room. The shower gel and shampoo dispensers were very hard to dispense their products, and there were no additional cotton pads/buds/hand cream - moisturisers. We paid a lot of money for a luxury experience that fell short. The location is fantastic, but a few additions need to be made. I would stay again but not have breakfast.

Came here for a birthday weekend for my wife with my youngest daughter 7, oldest daughter and her partner and my mom and dad.

After just finishing my breakfast I felt the need to immediately write a review.

Location is great right on the docks and close to everything. Parking is over the road so no issues parking or getting things from the car.

Hotel is modern clean and smells clean!!! Food and drink is lovely and must say I have been to London several times and this was far superior and probably the best breakfast I’ve had in a UK hotel.

What really makes this hotel is the staff from the moment you arrive with the reception staff, the first drink you order and the services at any meal time is exceptional.

I think other hotels should send secret guests here to see how hotel staff should act , as they truly are 5 star, nothing is to much, friendly, helpful and again probably the best inhave experienced in the UK.

This will be the only hotel for us now when visiting Liverpool and this has really made our weekend special.

Hotel was fine , restaurant was quite cold in the evenings however food was excellent Several guests were sitting eating their food wearing coats !
Bathroom was cold due to radiator not switched on , when we asked reception they advised that they had been switched off for Health and Safety reasons ...really !!
Be warned the adjacent car park not owned by the hotel is very expensive , we parked for 2 nights and it cost £45.00 ...ouch .
Shame nice hotel but we would not return due to the car parking charges next door.

Arrived here for a 2 night stay with my husband, when you walk through the doors the beautiful decor catches your eye and the hotel has a homely feel to it. Pawla checked us in and greeted us in a friendly manner and was helpful. We also got to meet Jordan the hotel manager and we were greeted in a warm friendly manner and made us feel welcome. Our room had a river view and it was lovely, room was spacious, spotless and comfortable. Thankyou housekeeping.

We went to Albert Docks which is about 10 mins walk from hotel and it was lovely with a variety of shops and restaurants and then into city centre again short walking distance. There is also beautiful buildings when walking from hotel to city centre. We chose to eat in restaurant at hotel first night and food was delicious and buffalo chicken is a must try, ambience was lovely and matthew and Izzy looked after us well and were helpful and friendly. Thankyou to the chef's and also bartender for great cocktails.
Breakfast both mornings we were greeted by Ivana in a friendly manner and made us feel welcome. We also got to meet Niamh who greeted us in a friendly manner, breakfast had a great variety of continental and the pineapple was delicious. There is so much to choose from including the hot breakfast which tasted delicious, served quickly and cooked to perfection. Restaurant has a lovely ambience and a lovely start to the day. Callum who was friendly checked us out quickly and efficiently. This hotel is stunning and my husband and I have enjoyed our stay. Thankyou Jordan and your team for a fantastic stay and making us feel welcome. We look forward to our next visit.

Right on the Dock along with all the other hotels within walking distance to the city , and Albert Dock is a 10 min walk and the M & S bank Arena . check in was fast and staff really helpful , rooms was tired , black painted furniture and well worn carpet , bed was comfy and spotlessly clean , large walk in shower but again black tiles so it showed all the water marks , toilet needed 2 or more flushes , nice white fluffy towels ,tea coffee and safe . breakfast was very nice and piping hot . over all I would return but it do need a update .

When I initially made the booking I spoke with a member of staff who suggested a corner room would be most pleasant, with dual aspect windows and a larger bath and floor space. Following this advice I requested a corner room with river view multiple times prior to arrival and waited 30 mins upon check in for one to be made ready. When we went in to the room we realised the room did not have a river view or dual aspect as requested, so phoned down to reception who apologised and said they would allocate us another room. However, our new room was not a corner room 🤦🏻‍♀️ it did have a river view, but it was not the room discussed or intended. I did not make a further request after that. Our new room was right in the middle next to the lift so a lot of passing noise. There is no point of requesting a river view anyway as really not much to see. The point of my room request was to have a quieter, bigger and lighter room for the price point.

The rooms pictures definitely do not look like the room we stayed in.

Overall feel of the hotel is quite sterile and unwelcoming. Not really a fan of the decor, it’s all black and looks unclean. The room is dark: window is tiny and lighting dim. Not decent enough to put make up on for example. The shower is also dark.

No shower over bath, it’s either shower or bath. Bath itself was awkward shape, could not lay back in it. No window in bathroom, no extractor fan.

I did not understand the wording on eco friendly tips, especially the point about “pillow talk.”

Tried to order room service, took ages to get through, when we finally did the receptionist kept pointing me to a “welcome letter” with a QR code on it. We did not have a welcome letter in the room. She was quite rude about this, exhaled frustratedly and said “well you’d better come to the bar then!” I don’t think so. With no menu I simply ordered a drink, which took over an hour to arrive and had to chase twice for it. They did apologise and there was no mention of this on check out, presuming they chose not to charge me.

We opted against breakfast which seemed rather exorbitant at £18 for 1 adult and £9 for a small child who only wanted some juice and a croissant. The breakfast choice was also pretty limited.

The location is not the best, there’s nothing else around it, everything is at least 15 mins walk away. It’s at the wrong end of the docks.

Bath robe read “Clifton arms hotel” ??

Overall felt very cheap and uncomfortable. Would not stay again.

Hi Lolatoldme, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are disappointed to hear that your stay was not up to the usual superb standards we strive to deliver to all of our guests. We are sorry to read that your room did not contain the specific features you requested however we do make all of our guests aware that we do take room preferences on a request basis and we may not be able to always guarantee or accommodate these requests on particularly busy days. We do also offer a more avant-garde decor and style throughout the hotel and our bedrooms which we understand may not be to everyone's specific taste or liking. In regards to your experience ordering room service we do apologize for any errors or miscommunication and your feedback will be relayed to both the reception and brasserie management teams to deliver further training to the team. Once again thank your leaving your much valued feedback and we will make sure to action this to further improve our guest experience. Warm regards, Team Mal X
