Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great location, rates, with professional and amiable staff. The rooms were clean, quite with appointed with average amenities. Sleep great and that is essentially all a room in central London is for, right! Another plus were the Dinning Services, which were above average with great pricing for center London. Overall 4+ stars. I will be back!

This is a very welcome return visit as a member of several years, the service is as good as previous visits. On this trip I was fortunate enough to enjoy the Sunday roast, a delight I can only describe as angels dancing on my taste buds! If you're ex services and you have reason to visit London at least once a year you would benefit from the prices, a second visit and the annual subscription is more than covered!

As RCAF veterans, we have stayed at the VSC many times over the years. The word that comes to mind is consistency: Front desk, consierge, restaurant & bar service is always friendly and professional; the hotel is always well-maintained (albeit the decor is a bit tired and old-fashioned); rooms are spotless and bathroom upgrades are fantastic. Very fair rates for such a convenient location, mere steps from Marble Arch.

I expected a decent-quality hotel that was somewhat Spartan as its military ethos would suggest. It's not at all however, with a concierge, security guard and receptionist on duty at the door just to start with. Everything is immaculate, even the room in which I stayed (the cheapest available). The dining room was smart, the menu looked excellent (I didn't have time to eat) and the staff faultlessly helpful and well turned-out. For £85 including breakfast it's astonishingly cheap and I will be back without a doubt. Thank you to all the staff for such a pleasant stay. N.B.: Membership is free for serving members of the Armed Forces plus you can bring guests as well. Worth obtaining a membership just for its own sake.

Lovely short break with our grandson to visit Winter Wonderland. We’ve stayed here a few times so know what service and quality to expect, and weren’t disappointed. We stayed in 656 which was lovely and spacious; the addition of the single bed tucked away in its own little alcove is a nice touch and affords a bit of privacy for everyone. Breakfast was very good, and I’d like you to mention how accommodating the bar staff were when, with other family members, we descended in there with LOTS of shopping bags in the afternoon, needing coffee and a rest before we collected our bags. They made us most welcome and further reinforced my opinion of this being a lovely relaxing, welcoming bolt hole right in the middle of the busy West End!

We belong to this club and we stay there for the weekend as we were watching a show. We took my parents up there as well this time. We always enjoy our stay here as the staff are so friendly, professional and always there to help you. The rooms are very comfortable, there is a lovely bar area there, which is always very clean and very pleasant to stay in. The food is very good, we had breakfast, we also ate in their restaurant, the food is so good, it’s like fine dining in there. We will always use this club as we live our stats up there.

Without a doubt The VSC is an edifice-homage to British Military History. It is also a great value relative to the higher-starred London hotels. Steps from Marble Arch and Hyde Park - the look, feel and sounds of the Great City at your finger and foot tips. There are, alas, a few cautionary caveats, which can be remedied with some old fashioned homework before booking. 1. Our room (353) was the oddest shaped ever lodged in - major girder in the middle -- you have to literally go north or south of it to get to the bathroom; and the mounted (yep, on girder) tv hangs in wait to deliver a nice pop on the noggin if you make a misstep. 2. The room is located in the building's structural curvature, which puts you directly - as in practically curbside - to what has to be one of the busier (read noisy) intersections in London. If you like sirens this is your kind of spot. Advice in hindsight - do not accept a room in the curved wing/section; at minimum secure a room well back on Seymour Street; even better lock in a room not facing the streets. Your night night angel will thank you. Superb value and top-notch staff. And the in-person stories from those blessed military veterans are priceless.

Very comfortable, rooms spotless and staff very friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable and rooms quiet. Breakfast is self service with a large variety of items to choose from. Very good coffee. Nothing seemed too much trouble from front of house staff. Most enjoyable visit.

We love staying at the VSC. The concierges and receptionists are so helpful, and our room on the 4th floor was lovely - high enough to be away from traffic noise. Comfortable bed and furniture and immaculate bathroom. We ate in the restaurant on three occasions and once again the staff were extremely nice, and the food excellent. The choices for the breakfast buffet are excellent, with food to cater for all tastes.

As well as staying at the VSC with work, my training course was also hosted there. On arrival I was greeted by the concierge who never faltered on their attentive service throughout the entire stay. The check in process was straightforward, and rooms very comfortable and well presented. The military plaques and artwork around the entire hotel made for a museum style stay as I wandered slowly down the corridors, looking and reading at all the different paraphernalia adorning the walls. A slight quirk was the lift service to the higher floors. Obviously the building has been extended so there’s a need to get in one lift so far up the building, walk down the corridors and get another lift to the upper floors. That said, the process of getting to my room was explained concisely so I had no trouble at all, and it gave me additional walls to enjoy the artwork etc. The training room was well presented with a place setting, plenty of water available, and each day a small selection of chocolates/sweets presented for each delegate. The tea/coffee facilities were great with plenty to go around. Breakfast was a vast buffet with everything from smoothies to black pudding. I also enjoyed the curry buffet, a Tuesday evening offer, with a very reasonable price tag. The location of the VSC is brilliant for all areas of London. Marble Arch tube station is just 3 minutes walk away, although on arrival, I was early so got off at Oxford Circus and enjoyed a 20 minute stroll to arrive. My lasting impression of the VSC is the concierge team. So attentive and helpful. They really do lift the service from excellent to outstanding. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
