I have stayed at Hurlingham B&B three times now and expect to go back again soon when I visit the UK. The hostess, Gilly Belfrage is a delightful and helpful person and cooks the best breakfast in London. The house is very comfortable and the rooms arm warm and cosy; and very quiet . The internet is good . The location is also great , the area is safe and close to the Tube.

Dear Gilly We sincerely thank you for your great hospitality and enjoyable days in London. For those like us, who are fascinated by the metropolis of London, and on the other hand looking for the, literally, English ambience, you simply offered us exactly that . Your B & B is very idyllically furnished, is close to the sub-station Putney, is very nicely nestled in the area close to the Old English Hurlingham Club and the parks on the Thames. And all this is perfectly complemented by your excellent hospitality. Not to forget to mention your varied and tasty breakfasts. Gilly's Hurlingham B & B is a must for all of those who are looking for an oasis to feel comfortable and still want to be in the center of London. Sincerely Marcia and Markus

We very much enjoyed our stay with Gilly, who is the perfect host. The rooms are clean and bright and the breakfasts were a delicious start to our days sightseeing London. Only 5 mins walk from Putney Bridge tube and bus station. Will definitely visit again next time! Mike & Iona

I booked two rooms at The Hurlingham B&B as four of us were attending a charity ball at The Hurlingham Club. Gilly made us feel very welcome immediately and we chatted over a pot of tea and Christmas cake. As it was raining Gilly kindly drove us to The Hurlingham Club. The rooms were clean and homely. Breakfast started with a beautifully cut grapefruit, continued with a full English and ended with a lovely selection of fresh fruit. Gilly was an excllent hostess and we will be recommending her B&B to others. We will definately stay there when we are in London next.

Have stayed twice at Gilly's B&B and have enjoyed both visits. Lovely accommodation, fabulous breakfast, and great location near the Hurlingham Club. Gilly is a wonderful host, and very helpful in suggesting local places to visit. Thoroughly recommended.

Our very friendly and helpful hostess Gilly Belfrage made our 5 night stay at Hurlingham B&B a great pleasure. We arrived after a very long trip from New Zealand to an extremely comfortable room and wonderful bed. After a great nights sleep and a delicious breakfast Gilly provided us with heaps of information on transport and things to do. We would not hesitate to return to her B&B when in again London.

We have just had a very relaxed night at The Hurlingham B&B in Fulham, London. Great location, greeted by the owner who could not have been more charming or welcoming, just what we needed for our weekend of family activities in this part of London. Her home is beautifully decorated and our room was of an excellent standard, very comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was delicious and we could not fault a thing. Would highly recommend and we hope to return before too long.

Many thanks to Gilly Belfrage, the owner, for providing such a marvellous haven for us to stay at whilst we were attending a function at a local Club. The location was ideal, the accommodation very comfortable, with ensuite bathroom and great quality amenities. Gilly was very welcoming and adapted to our needs with no fuss. Wonderful breakfast, including delicious and beautifully cut grapefruit - such a treat! Would not hesitate to book again when in the area - lots of great bars and restaurants too. Look forward to returning soon, many thanks'

I have stayed in many B&B's in London whilst on business and am always disappointed when I can't get a room here. Gilly is friendly and accommodating and provides an amazing breakfast in the morning! The rooms are just right, comfortable and clean, and if you like your sleep, I always sleep well here. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gilly's Bed and Breakfast.

It has been interesting to read back over the reviews now that we have stayed and experienced it and sadly share some of the not so positive reviews. It is a very twee place with beautiful roses at the entrance and pretty decor inside, however, yes as mentioned by a previous reviewer, the photos are a little dated as the decor is now quite tired and new photos could be updated onto the website. Unfortunately, like one of the other reviewers, we weren't made to feel very welcome and this did feel selective based on seeing the interaction with other guests that frequented the B&B often. I definitely recommend speaking to the owner about bookings over the phone. Numerous emails were sent to and fro but there seemed to be much confusion when we met in person despite things being in black or white online. From her interaction with us throughout our stay, we appeared to be more of an irritation rather than a pleasure to have guests stay in her B&B. The set up for breakfast was odd. You got what you were given and you were never asked what you would like. The orange juice was beautifully freshly squeezed but disappointingly, barely filled half a glass and we did not dare ask for any more. Our impression was that the owner views this solely as the name would suggest: you sleep there, have your breakfast and then don't come back until evening time. We were absolutely shattered and went home for an afternoon nap one day, only to have the owner talking right outside our room, apologising to the other guests in an exasperated way, that she couldn't get into our room because 'the others' were in. One other thing to note, we were staying there in the summer months, therefore we slept with the window open. The house is directly under the Heathrow flight path so expect an early morning wakening for the red eye flights! All in all, for you what pay and it's location to Wimbledon/Chelsea areas, it is definitely worth the room but perhaps only sleep here and spend the day out. Definitely, go out for breakfast, there's plenty of nice places nearby.

Response from Hurlingham1, Owner at Hurlingham B&B
Responded 17 Sept 2014
95% of my guests are repeats and from recommendations. If you look at my website reviews and good ones on Tripadvisor you can see guests love my breakfasts my decor of the house comfortable beds From the moment I had dealings with this lady she was tricky overs rooms etc I did my best to fit her in when it was Wimbledon fortnight and extremely busy. I have a good reputation of fantastic breakfasts - the best in London I am told - and always ask the guest the night before if they want a cooked breakfast I was featured In Homes & Gardens and Homes & Antiques and other magazines and am always updating furnishings windows etc. I feel that this guest has clocked all the negative details and unleashed them on Tripadvisor which is out of my control that people can do this but I can guarantee you these facts are not true and is more to do with the guests perception of life.
