Stayed here just after new year for the second time and had a good stay. At under £40 a night on average it was a bargain again. Might not think the same if paying a lot more though as it can become very pricey for a Travelodge room. Our room was facing a building site which was something to watch as the diggers danced about outside. Looked as if they had unearthed old walls in bits we could see. If Windows closed very quiet but extremely noisy if open. On this side of the Travelodge work would probably last at least all year. The room itself was fine, comfy bed and had what we needed for the price. The shower room only has a plastic curtain which felt like getting washed in a crisp bag as its narrow and the curtain clings to you. Feel Travelodge should change their websites to actually state that if there is any chance of getting a bath then book a family room. Staff on checking in are very "computer says etc" and don't seem to be able to have the initiative or authority to let you upgrade in any way to get a room with a bath. Cleaning was sometimes late or incomplete. Corridors and stairwells had the same small bits of rubbish lying around for a few days. If I could see this why couldn't staff? It's just little things like this that's a bit off putting. Since we stayed last year when the bar area was nice and new there was a definate change in condition of furnishings. The main one being the first leather ? Sofa we saw on entering the hotel had all the cushions for sitting split. The hotel chain must make enough over the year to be able to repair or renew things like this. Cleaning was also required on other chairs and carpeted areas around the bar. The bar and restaurant area was lovely looking. We tried a breakfast once but the items that were meant to be hot were all pretty cold apart from baked beans. Not much choice but enough and would have been ok if hot enough. It seemed a better deal if you have children as they eat free. The location is very good for lots of transport links. Lots of interesting architecture around, lovely shops and restaurants and bars nearby. Lots to explore.

We stayed for one night in this Travel Lodge on our recent trip to London for sight seeing and theatre trips. We arrived at the hotel soaking wet thanks to the very heavy rain and were very quickly assigned our room, despite a computer glitch affecting their booking system. The room was lovely and warm, with adjustable air con / heating that quickly dried our wet coats. The room itself was spacious, with a very comfortable king size bed, TV and tea making facilities on the desk. The shower was powerful, with plenty of hot water and free shower / body wash. There was also a hand wash dispenser fitting in the bathroom. The shower room was quite compact but did everything we needed it to do. The TV in the room had a reasonable range of channels and there is 30 minutes free internet, albeit on an unsecured network, which we didn’t use. We chose to have breakfast at the hotel for convenience and were pleased with the selection of hot items and drinks. There was no gluten options available for me in the cold section and no gluten free bread but there were gluten free hot items available. For a good value, clean and comfortable stay this hotel is perfect. The road outside the hospital is quite busy but there is good double glazing so the noise is reduced. I took ear plugs having anticipated this after staying in London previously and being disturbed then. My husband said the noise from a lorry woke him up at about 6am but he managed to get back off to sleep again. If you are looking for a comfortable hotel with ample facilities and friendly staff you can’t go wrong.

Arrived Sunday, very easy check in
Room was massive as a twin accessible room
Dinner was great price and pizza was massive. Omar hashim very polite behind bar, and Sultara behind check in very helpful and looked after our suitcases on final day between checking out and before we travelled home.
All in all great clean hotel with friendly staff and 3 min walk from aldgate tube station.

We had a 'Super Room', with free wifi and breakfast included.
Request for high floor was met.
Probably no such thing as a 'view' from this hotel, but that was OK.

Needed some prints, and there was no charge for b&w 3 copies.

There are some signs of downmarket activity - somebody has spilt something on one of the passageway carpets, and the clean up had left a stain.
Not the sort of thing you see other places, but it wasn't really a bother.

The bed was good, sheets and pillows fine.
Room was clean.
Shower was good.

Breakfast was OK.
It's served in a room more like a canteen than a restaurant, plastic seats, cheap cutlery, but all felt clean.
Not quite as good as a Premier Inn, but perfectly edible.
Eat as much as you like, self-serve buffet. Full English, continental and fruits etc.

Location is good, just a short walk to Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations.
Bus route 42 and 100 (and a load others) stop almost outside (about 30 yards from front door).

Best restaurant nearby is Pizza Union in Leeman St.

Beware, street markets close the surrounding roads and it's impossible to reach by car, on Sunday mornings at least.

By far the cheapest way to book was direct on the Travelodge web site.

Having to stay at a Travelodge in London one night a week now as back in the office one day a week. This is a new hotel - I think it must have been finished during the pandemic as I can remember it being built in the very early stages a couple of years ago. As a result, it's generally cleaner and more pristine than other Travelodge branches which need some TLC and the big plus especially in the hot weather is that my room was fitted with air con. I cannot tell you how relieved I was to realise this when I stepped into my room from the 28 degree heat! The location is brilliant; a couple of minutes' walk if that from Aldgate and Aldgate East stations (was probably equidistant to each so handy depending on which line you need) and no more than a 10 minute walk away from Liverpool Street station. Tower Hill and the City not far away either. There is a Sainsbury's Local and a Tesco Express no more than a five minute walk away if you need to get a few bits.
If I could improve one thing, it would be that when I checked in, I asked for an iron and ironing board for my room. I had two bags for work and a suitcase and the man at the desk seeing this could have gone the extra mile and offered to go with me to my room and bring it with him but didn't so unfortunately I needed to come back for it later. A small thing however in the grand scheme of things and I would have no hesitation about returning.

Really lovely stay, staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. Food was better than I was expecting. Location was brilliant within a few minutes walk of 3 underground tube stations. Also walking distance of the Tower of London which is about 15 minutes away.
Also quite environmentally friendly. You had the choice of when you wanted your room cleaned and towels changed rather than most hotels that do it on a daily basis. Only negatives were lack of hairdryers near New Years Eve and no safe in the room. I will definitely book again.

Had a recent 4 night stay here. Great location minutes walk from Aldgate and Aldgate east tubes. Arrived at victoria bus station and caught no. 11 bus for £1.50 which goes past a lot of sights, and arrives 10 min walk from hotel.
I got a Super Room for around 60 a night including brekky and wi fi. Bargain for area.
The room has comfortable bed, superb power shower coffee machine and hairdrier.
However I think in future I would make do with a standard room.
The downsides are you have to hang a card on the door if you want the room making up. Why not have a card if you don't want the room making up. The toilet is too close to sink so you have to lean forward when sitting down. The breakfast is ok but same boring stuff every day, ie scrambled egg. Why not fried egg every other day? This is however a bargain if you have got kids as they can eat for free.Bar is way expensive ie £6 for a pint of (very nice) Leffe. Next time I wont have breakfast or use bar.
Thought the 2 kit kats was a nice touch but you only get them on first day only!
The automatic lighting in the corridor only has one sensor at the end, so you sometimes walk to the end in the dark before the lights come on!
All in all though not bad.
Take a tip though, If its just adults avoid the £9.25 breakfast and expensive bar there is a wetherspoons 10 mins away.

Had a 3 night stay last weekend with my partner, cannot fault the hotel or location, all the staff were very nice and helpful, very clean hotel, building work next door we could not hear until going outside, air con in standard room simple to use, 2 min walk to Aldgate or Aldgate East station with a few other stations within 10 minute walk, tower bridge/tower of London 10 minute walk, petticoat lane market runs the length of Middlesex street on sundays, brick lane 5 minute walk, we never ate at the hotel but peters cafe opposite Aldgate station is highly recommended for breakfast. We had groupon vouchers for afternoon tea at Clayton hotel 5 minute walk and London steakhouse in Middlesex street and that was one of the best meals me and my partner have ever had visit there if you’re staying. Sky garden is a 10 minute walk and we had free tickets from there website and worth a visit if you can get the free tickets. Half hour walk to St Paul’s cathedral, borough market, prime location we have booked to go back in October

Stayed a night before heading off to Stansted. Bar open 24 hrs, breakfast served from 6 am
Cheap and clean
Will use it again for any other trip. Not many shelves in the room but fine for one night. Its a budget hotel so you know what you are paying for.

This hotel is clean and bright and in a good location. There are two tube stations very nearby, Aldgate (Circle, Metropolitan) and Aldgate East (District, Hammersmith and City) so use either depending on where you're going. You can also walk to Brick Lane and Spitalfields market very easily, about 10 minutes.

Our room was huge, but we did pay for a third adult (16 yrs) as well as a child so that might explain it. It was excellent value, but I checked the rates for each night on the website and they did vary quite a lot (60 to 200 per night). As a result, I stayed somewhere else for the 2 dearer nights which meant dragging cases across London.

Housekeeping is on request which is OK if you remember to put the sign on your door handle. We didn't bother so ran out of run out of tea, coffee, milk and toilet rolls and had to hang our towels up to dry on coathangers. Luckily, there's a Tesco Express 3 minutes away.

Lastly, the photo on here looks a bit formal and boring but actually there's seats outside, painted pavements and very informal atmosphere.
