Very pleasant and well maintained hotel with cosy breakfast and dining area. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Large shower cabin with rain shower. Everything works very well, and the service is good and personal.

My wife and I stayed here for a Saturday and Sunday night and for a London hotel, it's probably the furthest you could be from a tube station, a 15 minute walk to London Bridge tube station which is also not an ideal station for most central London places. We normally went to elephant and castle on Northern line then...

Dear woolleyterrier Thank you for your comments. Even as a Londoner the tube network is always a bit of a challenge. I think that Bill Bryson's book sums it up perfectly. London Bridge is in fact only 3 stops from Westminster and 4 from Green Park which is about as central as it gets, next to Bond Street and a...

4 nights in clean and comfortable room. All facilities worked properly. Vey nice bathroom. In the room the hotel offers coffee tea and hot water. There is small minibar with water . Small lobby and dining room that serves continental and English breakfast as well. I have eaten better breakfasts in my life. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel...

Stayed one night in this hotel, tucked away between Borough and Tower Bridge. Excellent value for money considering Its location. Bedroom - comfy bed, modern decor and creative use of space to give the room for a nice, unconventional feel. Good bathroom and spacious shower although the shower itself was quite weak and the towels were basic rather than luxury....

We stayed here as this was half way between central London and O2 arena. Lovely friendly staff and good sized, modern room with en suite mini fridge hair dryer etc. Walking distance to London Bridge Underground. No alcohol but we took our own and glasses are in the rooms. Smart phone which is free to use. Boris bikes outside if...

Dear JT-Laverstock I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and were able to make use of the free smart phone. Whilst we do not sell alcohol, there is a supermarket on the square, that has a wide selection and we are only too happy to provide you with an ice bucket and glasses. Hope to see you again soon....

Nice clean room, friendly staff in a good location. Some nice little touches and attention to detail - like the hole in the shower screen so you can turn it on without getting wet. Staff have a ready smile.

Stayed for 2 nights in a family room, all as required, continental breakfast included in deal and plenty of choice available. Requests to reception for fresh milk, extra tea and coffee delivered in a timely fashion. Good location for central London, plenty of restaurants and bars locally if you so fancy. Our room was right next to the road and...

Dear meonianw Bermondsey Street has become a real mecca for foodies with some excellent restaurants and bars offering all sorts of cuisines. Borough Market is also only a 15mins walk which is great for an early morning amble. Thank you so much for your comments with regards to Gianluca which I will be sure to share with him and the...

Arrived Saturday morning via car. Parked in NCP Kipling Street although there is closer and cheaper, refer to hotel. We left our bags and ventured into the city. Returned late afternoon, the room was modern and clean with a view of The Shard in the distanc (half a mile). Breakfast was very relaxed - home from home. Would definitely stay...

Hotel is reasonably well placed, not far from the Shard. It's a good 10 minute walk to nearest tube but on bus route and easy to flag taxis. Hotel reception is quite basic and the restaurant small, mind you considering location it's really not an issue. Bedrooms were excellent, spotlessly clean and in excellent order. I stayed in Room 514...

Stayed here as was half way between central London and O2 arena. Lovely friendly staff and good sized, modern room. Walking distance to London Bridge Underground. Great Omelette for breakfast too! No alcohol served but the restaurant next door supplies direct to your room! All in all great value and would happily stay here again.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
