This place was a last minute find based on previous reviews, I'm always quite sceptical of even positive reviews at times but be assured what you read is all true and more.
The grand entrance is breathtaking and instantly takes you back to its history of a magistrates court.
The staff were second to none; very polite, helpful and have a massive knowledge of local area. The new covid measures were good to see too; I was asked to stand infront of a machine, a bit like those face scanners at the passport control, which took my temperature, lots of hand sanitizers dotted around the premises.
Check in was very swift.
The room. Where do I start!? Phenomenal! Immaculate, spacious, well equipped, modern are just some of the tags I'd use for this place. The beds are the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, not sure where their mattress toppers are from but.. wow.
We decided to skip breakfast so can't comment on that but I can only imagine no expense would be spared.
The morning of check out an invoice was pushed under the door asking me to check the amount and sign along with adding the room keys into the envelope. This was to reduce the face to face contact between staff and guests in this current climate and its great to see they're being looked after too.
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Can't wait to return!

From the moment you walk in until you leave the staff are there for all your needs, they could not have been any more attentive and the overall feel of The Dixon is one of quality. The rooms were very well laid out with quality furnishings, the shower was heaven as well as the pillows, a fantastic nights sleep.
As it was our anniversary we were welcomed by Lisa the Hotel food and beverage manager at breakfast, and were offered complimentary Champagne along with additional items off the breakfast menu and then when we returned to our room a special chocolate treat awaited us, these little touches make your stay even more memorable. You need to take in the Court Room Bar for evening drinks where you will be met by Mario who will look after all your needs, his cocktails are superb, please try one. The location of the Dixon is perfect, with less than a 10 min walk to London Bridge station where you can get across town with ease. We decided to drive to the Dixon and found parking at Q Park just around the corner and as you are staying at the Dixon you get a 25% discount off your parking. We were introduced to The Dixon by a friend of ours and see know reason why others should not hear or have the opportunity to try out this fabulous hotel, give it a go you will not be disappointed.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from London Bridge station and easy to find - the exterior and entrance staircase are beautifully restored, retaining the classic style of the building but with a modern twist. We arrived early on Friday afternoon so checked in at reception receiving a warm welcome from the very helpful staff. Our Marriott Bonvoy status was recognised with a room upgrade, complimentary breakfast and points. We were also given a voucher for 2 cocktails in the Courtroom bar. We left our luggage and had light lunch at Provisioners by which time our room was available. The concierge, Marco, showed us to our room : a 5th floor room with view of Tower Bridge and the The Tower of London; Marco also told us about the history of the building and explained the significance of the photographs in the corridors. Our superior room was well designed and equipped with luxury fabrics and finishes; the bathroom had a large walk-in shower, marble tiling, excellent lighting, space for toiletries and spotlessly clean.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Globe & Sam Wanamaker theatres. After the performance, we returned to the stylish Courtroom bar for drinks where Mario made us 2 delicious Espresso Martinis and even managed to source some Earl Grey tea bags for morning tea in our room. Breakfast in Provisioners consisted of a good cold buffet selection and some hot dishes available to order.

The staff were very efficient and helpful; we liked the decor: retro cafe style with the old cell detail of the magistrates court. On our last day, we able to have a late check-out. As we left in heavy rain, the receptionist kindly offered us a Dixon umbrella and told us to return it when we next stay ! We have told all our friends and family about this great hotel in such a good location.

What a fantastic boutique hotel!
Absolutely captured the charm and feel of the original court building with up market chic!

The brand's staircase and entrance is suitably imposing with a massive chandelier, with some hidden nods to it's past!
Check in was a breeze with lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Stayed for our anniversary and was gifted a lovely little note and some Dixon branded chocolate.

The room was light, bright and will equipped with Nespresso machine, kettle and chilled bottled water.
All around the hotel are little hints of the past - the old benches of the cells are now side tables, with the names and messages still scrawled on them. Also the lift lobby has all the old keys stick to the wall.
In the middle of the restaurant is one of the old cells, now a coffee store.

The hotel bar -
The courtroom bar is what was Court No. 2 with the old wooden surround of where the judges used to sit, now an impressive back drop for the bar. Beautifully decorated and with funky pictures of previous 'guests' given a modern twist.

One of them meeting rooms upstairs is also an old court room.

Provisioners, the main restaurant, served a good breakfast, with a choice of a la carte options with fresh orange juice and very good coffee!

Dear “guyth0mps0n”, We would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us during your anniversary celebration. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay with us; the hotel indeed represents the exact concept of the blend between modern interior and the classic, historic exterior, which makes a great fit with one of the most historic postcodes in London “SE1”. The rooms are indeed well equipped and we are happy to see that you made use of most of the room amenities as well as our different food and beverage outlets. We take great pride in providing "exactly like nothing else" experiences and I am very pleased that the team went the extra mile to make this special trip of yours even more memorable. This was my 2nd trip to London in 2 weeks, a bit unusual for me to be back so soon so I decided to try a different hotel as had spotted the Dixon when it was first opening last year and liked the look of the boutique design.

The Dixon has a characterful exterior and an impressive grand staircase in the lobby.

Check in was efficient but the phone app key only works on the room door, not the lift so you still need a key card which sort of defeats the point of keyless access.

The higher grade rooms are of a decent size and due to my Gold Bonvoy membership I was given an upgrade to a 6th floor room with views of Tower Bridge enchanced by having the bed facing the windows. The room did however lack having a desk which I imagine would be frustrating for business travellers.

The bathroom was spacious and the walk in shower was easy to use -not always the case as I am sure frequent travelllers will testify.

Unfortunately breakfast was a disappointment -slow service followed by an average full English -to be frank, I've had better at a Premier Inn. I guess they are understaffed but also the quality was not as it should be.

Overall an enjoyable stay but should be better.....

Dear "Riki747", Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at The Dixon, Tower Bridge and for sharing your feedback with others. I am pleased that you were able to experience what our Grade II listed building can offer, such as grand space and plenty of history, which the team is always keen to share.I have also shared your comments regarding the phone app not working in lift which was due to technical issue and I have addressed this to rectify. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you during the stay. As a valued Gold Bonvoy member of ours, we certainly look into the room allocation in advance and ensure that our Marriott Bonvoy members are looked after and benefit from what their tier level offers. The views are indeed stunning, especially from the rooms overlooking Tower Bridge and the River Thames. I am glad you were able to enjoy this. I am sorry if your breakfast experience was not as you expected it to be. Orders are indeed taken a la carte to ensure that it arrives fresh prepared with premium ingredients, however, I have shared your comments regarding the speed of service with the Restaurant General Manger for her reflection and actions. I hope we will have the opportunity to serve you better in the future and please do not hesitate to contact me directly so that I can oversee your arrangements for a seamless return stay. We like The Dixon and have stayed here several times before however this time we received no Marriott Bonvoy recognition. Our room was small and cramped with a distinct smell of bad drains.. The room was cold. I've never before had to negotiate with front desk staff to get heating turned on in a hotel bedroom!

When I reminded them that Marriott Bonvoy Gold members are supposed to receive a room upgrade they said the hotel was fully booked (frankly I didn't believe them as there were several unoccupied rooms on our floor). To cap it off Room 408 had a film placed over the glass in the window to prevent you from looking outside. So much for the hotel's claim that "every guest has a view".

It's a pity the hotel management here are unwilling to reward loyalty. Currently it feels like Marriott Bonvoy members are treated as "hostages to fortune" as opposed to valued guests on whom this hotel could build a loyal guest base. Loyalty is a two way street and The Dixon could do so much more to recognise this.

If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member then this may not be your best choice of hotel in London.

Dear " Relay", Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay with us, however, I am sorry to note that you did not fully enjoy your time with us on this occasion. As a valued Gold Bonvoy member of ours, we certainly look into the room allocation in advance and ensure that if an upgrade is available, it is allocated to our member arrivals as a recognition of their status. While our availability might not allow us to upgrade your rooms on every visit, every effort should be made to accommodate you as much as possible and show you how valuable a guest you are. If an upgrade is not available, we would allocate the best available room booked in the category and on this occasion you did not find your room to be your liking. We always ensure that our Marriott Bonvoy members are looked after and benefit from what their tier level offers. As a Grade II listed building, we are able to offer some unique features. I have shared your overall feedback with the team and updated your guest profile in order to ensure that these will be reflecting on any of your future reservations. This hotel has a ton of history/character but has been very nicely upgraded. Rooms are spacious and I highly recommend checking out the Courtyard Bar on the ground floor if you need a late night drink or snack (croquettes were very good). It’s easy to get an uber (I recommend ubering around since taxis are double the price) and hotel is around the corner from restaurants, grocery store, and tower bridge. Gym is a pretty good size, never got crowded (I went 3 days in a row), and has free bottles of water. Overall this was a great hotel and we’d definitely stay again.

Booked this hotel for my partners birthday trip to London and I am so pleased I did!
The entrance is beautiful, stairs with pillars & automatic doors. Massive gallery staircase and chandelier in the hotel lobby. The staff were welcoming and kind. Every time we walked past they said hello. The decor is quirky and boasts a luxury hotel.

The bed was amazing! So comfortable. The bathroom was also lovely with marble features and powerful shower. Towels were changed and bed was made. The Tv was a main feature and was ginormous for a hotel room! It also featured chromecast so we could stream Netflix to the tv. Hairdryer was provided and ironing board/iron. The room definitely had luxury features with a beautiful armchair and light up mirror to do my make up in the bathroom. I felt safe and didn’t hear a sound from rooms next to me/people walking past. Black out curtains enabled me to sleep perfectly! Nespresso machine.

I was worried about the location when booking but we found parking at a discounted rate round the corner at Q park tower bridge. The nearest tube station was London Bridge and that was within a 5min walk which wasn’t an issue at all! So the location was actually fab! It was in a nice quiet area but quick enough to get to the tube. There was a small Sainsbury’s and Tesco nearby.

We wandered into borough market which is close and that was lovely for street food and market food! Walking over tower bridge (2 min walk) also gave us some amazing views!

We had breakfast at the hotel. I chose the Dixon fry up and it was cooked well. No grease! We were also offered toast, hot drinks and juice within the breakfast price. The waiter was great,
Very kind and helpful.

I am Very happy with my stay at the Dixon. I would definitely recommend it! Thank you for making my first trip away out of lockdown so memorable and comfortable!

This hotel manages to nail quirky and elegant at the same time. We were lucky enough to nab a fantastic deal through Wowcher, and enjoyed every part of our stay. Staff were all lovely and paid particular attention to detail. We were surprised with a shot of special decaf coffee upon returning home one night!

Our room was comfortable and clean, with plenty of storage and a huge bathroom. We loved the small extras like the coffee machine and the extra toiletries - they were a lovely touch! We were given one of the accessible rooms so I'm unsure how ours compared to another room but we loved it - especially after a long day of exploring London! Our feet thanked us for the short walk to our room.

The restaurant was also lovely, and went out of their way to cater to me despite the fact that I have Coeliac Disease. One waiter in particular, Chris, was very helpful and never made me feel like a nuisance even though I usually feel awkward when eating at restaurants. I couldn't eat anything off the buffet as a lot of it contained gluten and the rest was off limits due to the likelihood of cross contact with gluten, but Chris was so helpful getting me food fresh, uncontaminated food from the kitchen just for me! The one thing I'd say about the restaurant is that it would be good to have GF options available on the buffet, as I wasn't able to enjoy the 'continental' side of things and felt a bit left out as it looked delicious. My partner certainly enjoyed it! Whilst the food from the kitchen was lovely, I would have loved to be able to have some pastries, cereals and yogurts too. It's not enough of a thing to bring my overall rating down as the hotel was perfect in every other way - it would just be much more inclusive to guests with dietary requirements.

Overall we had a brilliant time and the attention to detail was fabulous. I would 100% come back here and recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the heart of London. The Tower of London has a special place in my heart so to walk past it to and from the hotel every day meant a lot to me. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location!

They do not have an executive lounge. The room layouts are slightly different although it isn’t particularly evident from the pictures. I have stayed at the property multiple times, most recently last month, and find it enjoyable and a nice, quiet location.

This is all spelled out in hotel terms and conditions, so it’s important to always understand when you book. Unfortunately you’re unlikely to get a refund if the booking was pre-paid or inside the cancellation window. Trip insurance is a safe way to plan accordingly for the future. Good luck with your recovery.
