I last visited the Atheneum about 8 or 9 years ago - my late husband and I used to take our daughters up to London every Christmas and stay in one of the hotel’s townhouse apartments. This month we had tickets to see The Eagles at Hyde Park, and knowing how close the Atheneum is to the park, I decided it would be the ideal place to stay. On arriving I was delighted to see that the doorman, Jim, is still there (30 years and counting). He greeted us by name each time we left and arrived, and couldn’t have been more helpful. Our Deluxe room overlooked the side street (the same street on which the townhouses are situated), and was extremely comfortable. Very comfortable bed and pillow (I struggle with pillows as I have neck problems, but these were fantastic and I came home an immediately ordered two), and all the amenities you could need. We both slept very well (not always a given when you’re middle-aged!) and breakfast the next morning was plentiful and delicious. If I was going to make any complaint it would be that the air conditioning didn’t seem very effective - it was quiet but didn’t get very cool so we slept with the window open. It was noisy, but I popped ear plugs in and didn’t hear a thing. Service was excellent from every member of staff we encountered and I wouldn’t hesitate to return if we need to be close to this part of London again (it was a ten minute walk once we’d left the park after the concert).…
Classy, stylish and comfortable ( with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in) Excellent service and perfect location for exploring the city. I would struggle to consider any other hotel when in London. Thank you to the whole team for providing a memorable stay.
This was the perfect place to stay when meeting with friends for the weekend. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The hotel and location are excellent sitting on Piccadilly opposite Green Park. A particular treat was the WNBR parading past the front door on the Saturday afternoon 😎
Whenever I visit London, I always make sure that I stay at THE ATHENAEUM. The staff are sincere, cheerful and friendly. The location is so central to most of London's attractions and shopping. The rooms are so well-decorated, tidy, and clean.
Fabulous location; excellent service; outstanding value - what more can you ask for! Located about 10 mins walk from London's West End and just across from a beautiful park - this is a great hotel! The breakfast was wonderful, as well!
I had a weekend break between business meetings. The Deluxe Double room was very comfortable, well-appointed and great shower pressure. The bar and spa facilities on the ground floor were excellent though book in advance for the treatment menu
Was a one night over stay spa the spa facilities was amazing a bit small but great was nice and intimate was very clean the spa people where very nice and helpful people at the reception was really nice and welcoming they made sure I knew all I need to know they where very helpful with carrying my luggage to the room and showing me to my room also the breakfast was really nice too this was a nice stay and I will recommend it.
My family stayed at the Athenaeum for a week this June in one of the residences and had an amazing time. The staff were tremendously helpful and attentive. The room itself was stylish and large with a small washer/dryer. The breakfast was delicious and fun in the mornings. The location of the hotel is terrific for major sites and public transportation. We had one of our best trips in large part due to this amazing hotel!
We stayed on a busy Saturday in June. The team looked after us incredibly well. For anyone looking for a treat, the park view rooms are amazing. They are spacious, very comfortable and the attention to detail is great. Fluffy bathrobes, fine bone china cups, high quality linens, lovely ESPA toiletries and soft fluffy towels.
Having stayed in a wealth of hotels of varying ratings I would say that aside from the concierge greeting, there was nothing else that I would put on the 5* rating. Very comfortable bed, nice room but no nice than a good standard 3 star or 4 star hotel. Breakfast was nice but not much choice when included with your room, the eggs were cold by the time the accompanying toast eventually arrived and it was clear to us that the other guests seated near to us were of far more importance to them. I can on my assume that this was ascertained by the room number.
