The Crescent Hotel is located in Bloomsbury in Central London. Our bed & breakfast hotel is near St Pancras International (Eurostar), Kings Cross Station, Euston Station and Russell Square underground. Our Georgian Grade II listed building overlooks a quiet crescent with gardens and tennis courts. It nestles within the university and research cluster of London. Close by we have UCL, King’s College, LSE, Birkbeck and SOAS, and many other research schools. We are a family business that has offered bed and breakfast for three generations. Our rooms range from single to family rooms and our English breakfasts are cooked to order, rather than warmed under lights. There is a selection of cereals, fruits and yoghurt for those preferring a continental breakfast. We maintain the same standards of housekeeping and service for guest whether in our basic or de-luxe rooms. Our reception is there to help guests with advice on places to visit and how to get there. They can not only advise on venues within close walking distance to the hotel such as the British Museum, the British Library, the Foundling Museum, the Sir John Soane Museum, Lincoln’s Inn and the Wellcome Collection but also those areas of London reached by a pleasant stroll: Covent Garden and Soho. From the close-by underground stations much of tourist London is only a few stops away.

My friend booked this hotel for our one night stay, we were coming to London for a mid-week birthday treat. I always stayed in a brand hotel, because of the safety concern and the quality of sleep, in London, you can get lots of traffic, busy commute persons and tourists – like us.
I totally recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice quiet night, feeling safe when you sleep, but close to restaurants, underground and lots of small shops. The hotel just tucks in the quiet location within 5 mins walk to the Russell Square underground.
The hotel is super clean, it has nice and newish bathroom units fitted in, no smell and no dirty marks. I saw the person who does the job, no dirt on the ground after he has done his job. You know when you visit an older style hotel, the window and the window sills, you might see dirty or build-up blackish air dust, I saw none at this hotel. You might think I am looking for trouble, honestly, I was just impressed with how clean it is when I used the public facility when I picked up my bag after I checked out.
The landlady and the staff are gentle and helpful. You can see the kitchen from the dining area, again, really clean and tidy. Those that the things that I appreciate, I am eating in a place with a clean and hygiene kitchen, and the rooms are safe, warm and clean. It is a listed building, so the window is not double glaze, but we found it super quiet at night, only the wind rattles the window because we open it for fresh air.
All of us wanted to come back, with our family/kids, because we want to have somewhere that is welcome and also close to town. I took a uber ride back from Leicester Square to the hotel at around 10.30 pm, it was less than £12.00. our Uber ride to and from Waterloo Station was less than £10.00 each with medium traffic. It is something to consider if you are in a group of 3, this is cheaper than underground.

Thank you for such a fulsome review that ticks all the things we strive to do well. The hotel has been largely run by women for many years, so we understand.

You can safely stay here for a good rate in London. Its clean, and spacious. Its quite traditional and the owner/ staff will do everything they can to enhance your stay. It is perfectly placed for the tube to all the attractions or you can just stay local, Bloomsbury is a little gem in its own right. I could not imagine needing to stay anywhere else in London. Thank you for a lovely stay.

My Husband and I stayed here for 1 night after returning from holiday to Kings Cross station. It is conveniently located just a 10 minute walk from the station. Set in a beautiful peaceful crescent, Cartwright Gardens. Check in was smooth + the staff very friendly and understanding. Im mobility impaired + use a walking stick. He changed our designated room to another room on the ground floor. The room was lovely, a good size, clean + very comfortable. We had a very good night's sleep in the comfortable bed. However, next morning, breakfast was the only downside to our experience here. The "poached" eggs were hard and over cooked in the microwave. The bacon tasted over fatty. Only a tablespoon of micowaved beans. The breakfast staff were friendly though, its just the condition of the cooked breakfast that we felt was a bit of a disappointment.

I was hoping to meet someone in London and Booking.com listed Crescent Hotel as a viable hotel. I made a reservation but my friend advised he was unable to meet on the reservation date. I needed, per their advice, 48 hours notice to cancel and receive my refund. I reserved the room and received confirmation at 5:47 pm on Saturday, 11 June, 2022 went to their website as soon as I found out and requested a cancellation at 9:00 PM on the same day; Saturday, 11 June, 2022 so they had 3 full days to take another reservation. They argued that I was not entitled to my reservation because I should have cancelled through Booking.com. Not only will I not use Booking.com again for their once sold no support but Crescent Hotel, in all fairness, had plenty of time to take another reservation with 3 days notice. This is just a plain case of taking a customer's money instead of fair customer service. I will not support a business that, in my opinion, holds greed to understandable customer service.

Slightly out of the ordinary, this was a business stay. With that in mind, I was allocated a quiet room and that it was. I really enjoyed having a little communal terrace just outside my window as well. Unfortunately, that meant I wasn't comfortable having my window open at night. The room was clean with its private bathroom but tiny. I did think the staff could have been a bit more friendly. They were very serious and not very chatty despite my attempts with friendly banter. A minor point compensated by a brilliant location just next to St Pancras in what seemed to be a quiet and safe street. The price was a bit higher than I would otherwise be prepared to pay but comparable to accommodation close by.

Very reasonably priced hotel in a very quiet quaint area of the city but close to the hustle and bustle of Camden. The hotel is in a historic property and operates similar to a Bed and Breakfast. The beds were extremely comfortable and an excellent breakfast offering. The hotel was clean and quiet. A great experience. Because it is an historic property, some hallways and spaces are tight and will require you to have the ability to carry your suitcases up a set of stairs.

Spent three nights absolute top of the house in late September, £89/night. Very small room, though it was a triple. Some electrical problems with bedside lights and kettle. Bath tiny, but we expected that. Clean, and bed comfortable. Not too far from Russell Square tube station. Staff were helpful and friendly, and our room, overlooking a parking area and some flats in back of hotel, was quiet and had good daylight. Breakfast pretty good and enough to keep you going for a long time. Would definitely ask for room at back of hotel. No lift, so if you have heavy luggage ask for a lower floor room. We would stay there again, good location and moderate price for London.

After staying in a complete dive we had booked thru a package deal, this place was heaven! We were on the 2nd floor in room 15, which was a triple (3 twins, which they said they'd be happy to put 2 together for us), towards the back of the building. (No lift, so keep luggage light!) We were surprised at how large the room was & the bath was quite comfortable. We were amazed at how quiet the area was, even a couple blocks off Euston Road, & we could sleep with the window open & no noise! The reception people were quite helpful & will book theatre, cars, trips for you if needed. They serve a choice of a full English breakfast (egg, sausage, bacon, beans & veggie) or continental style that kept us going all morning. (Full breakfasts can be hard to find in some areas, so strongly suggest booking in a place like this!) The location is great - 3 tube stations very close, including King's Cross which links you to Heathrow & several other lines nicely; & there were some pubs, restaurants & basic shops - incl. a Boots drug store nearby.
We will definitly consider this B&B the next time we visit London.

A friend with whom I attended graduate school recommended the Crescent Hotel for my recent stay in London. For parsimonious graduate students who are completing research at the British Library, the Crescent Hotel might seem like a good, inexpensive option. However, it really is a false economy. This Dickensian hotel is strictly for travelers who are willing to put up with threadbare carpets and linens, dank bathrooms, and surly staff, to save a few measly pounds. The Crescent reminded me of the hostels I stayed in when traveling through Europe when I was a poor college student. The hotel is ideally located in Bloomsbury, about a block from the British Library and nearby the British museum. The rooms vary in size, but, while they are all clean, they are dumpy. The comforters are pilling and faded, the bathrooms small, dark, and unventilated, and the walls scarred by scuff marks, as well as blemishes from recent repairs. The maid service is poor at best, particularly when it comes to cleaning linens. Adding insult to injury, the office staff are far from gracious. For example, when I checked out, they did not ask how my stay was, nor did they thank me for my patronage. Rather than subject myself to another night of this claustrophobic mediocre hotel, I opted to spend about 25 pounds per night to stay at a nearby chain hotel.

Does the hotel have air conditioning?
We do not have air conditioning. We have the original Georgian windows that open (with security locks). We believe in good natural ventilation. During the summer months we provide our guests with electric fans. Very best wishes from London and we look forward to being of service. Rita Cockle - Proprietor.
