The height of civilisation and good value considering the location. £6.50 for a pot of tea which came with home made shortbread. Scones were £12 for 4 with jam and clotted cream. Service was really good (Stephen our waiter was lovely). We’ll definitely be back.
A beautiful hotel in the heart of London the dinning room is something to be seen, exquisite and luxurious, afternoon tea was a treat, the staff were so polite and the service first class, I look forward to returning soon ....
The Lanesborough Hotel may front a busy thoroughfare but once welcomed inside, you soon realize it is the perfect London sanctuary and all your cares vanish. Every single individual we encountered expressed sincerity and warmth, making our stay very special. As others have commented, you are made to feel like you are part of an extended family while staying at the Lanesborough. The hotel’s small size and dedicated staff give it a boutique feel and there are times when you will feel you as if have the entire establishment to yourself. It's central location is perfect for doing everything in London. There is a nearby tube stop, a cab/uber can easily be hailed from the hotel, or better yet, get your exercise and walk everywhere like we did during our week's stay. I actually wish we had spent more time in our Apsley Suite as it offered an incredibly peaceful and pampered respite. If we needed anything, our butler was there almost immediately. The quality fresh fruit in our room, replenished multiple times daily was a welcome treat. One day, I asked if we could have more fresh figs as they were in season and oh so luscious. Minutes later, a bowel with half a dozen huge figs arrived courtesy of our butler. What a delight! The room itself was large, warm and essentially soundproof. The Hypnos bed and soft linens provided us wonderful nightly slumbers. A nighttime soft lighting system made it easy to navigate the large room after bedtime, when needed. The room televisions that disappear behind paintings are also a nice touch. Towels and toiletries are of very high quality. The complimentary breakfast that came with our package was enough to hold us until dinner. Having had such a wonderful experience, we look forward to staying here on our next London visit. The Lanesborough is truly a home away from home.…
Amazing to think this supremely elegant Georgian building originally called Lanesborough House dating from 1733 was St. George’s Hospital until its move to Tooting in the 1970s. The Duke of Westminster then exercised an option to buy it back for a mere £6,000 based on its value in the nineteenth century. It has no fewer than 93 suites and bedrooms with a starting price per night of $800 making it reputedly the most expensive hotel in London. It has a Michelin-starred restaurant currently known as the Celeste, a ‘luxury’ bar, garden room and spa. …
A friend took me to this place as a surprise and boy what a super place. The staff were a delight - friendly and polite but above all incredibly professional. Nothing was too much trouble and nobody hurried you up so you could enjoy the ‘how the other half live’ experience.
