Within our breathtaking collection of rooms and suites – which are amongst the most spacious in London – we have many with private garden terraces and quiet balconies. All our rooms and suites skilfully combine comfort, stylish design and the latest innovations, to meet the needs of the modern traveller. Renowned pastry chef Cedric Grolet offers artfully crafted patisserie at The Berkeley Café and the stars come out for award-winning cocktails at the Blue Bar. The Berkeley is located at the edge of Hyde Park in fashionable Knightsbridge, a short walk from Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Behind the hotel sits the residential area of Belgravia: a charming enclave of Georgian terraces, cobblestone streets, independent shops and traditional pubs, which conveys the feeling of an English village.

The Berkeley hotel stands out for its prime location, beloved by guests for its easy access to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. While opinions on value are divided due to high costs and some dated aspects, the hotel's cleanliness is universally applauded. Its rooms are celebrated for their comfort and style, notwithstanding occasional calls for updates.
Luxurious amenities, including a rooftop pool and spa, along with a sophisticated atmosphere, receive high praise. Service at The Berkeley is generally regarded as excellent, though it does not come without a few critiques.

+1
This was my second stay at the Berkeley. The staff are always fantastic. So welcoming and so professional. I arrived early and my room was not ready but I was already looking forward to returning after lunch. Once back at the hotel I was informed I had been upgraded to a balcony junior suite which is very generous. I had asked when making reservation to not have a room designed by Robert Angell, however as with my first stay these were the only available rooms. I feel as though these are the least sort after rooms and I find them a bit dull and void of any flair - just a personal preference. As a result I stayed for 2 nights of my 4 nights stay at The Berkeley and moved to their sister hotel The Connaught. The hotel were very kind to cancel my last 2 nights at late notice after a very kind gentleman from reception showed me an alternative room.
The room was, however, perfectly comfortable and the balcony provided a nice space with a good view even though it rained for most of my visit to London. The room was a bit small for a junior suite. The bathroom is great and features a large bathtub and a walk in shower with good water pressure. The 2 televisions were on flexible wall mounts which is always nice as you get a good view wherever you chose to sit. There was an espresso machine and kettle in the room and they were kind enough to provide me with an iron as soon as I asked.
The hotel have a number of measures to help keep guests and staff safe with all staff wearing face masks and hand sanitiser available in the lobby and outside the lifts on guestroom floors. They also provided face masks, hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes in the room. Overall I felt safe and I certainly trusted them to do their best in this regard.
Breakfast was a treat and I found the breakfast team very warm and welcoming. The Collins Room is also bright and airy and the perfect space for that time in the morning. The blue bar staff were professional and the cocktails were fantastic. I did not have the opportunity to try the Berkeley bar, perhaps on another visit.
Overall I really like this hotel and I think the staff are great, however with the rooms you never know what you are going to get as the room categories mostly feature a mix of designs that are very different and this has it's pros and cons.

Dear Tatankar Thank you very much for your review and for your kind comments about our team here at The Berkeley, as well as the measures we have in place to keep our guests and staff safe. I am also pleased to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast in the Collins Room and your cocktails in the Blue Bar. As you rightly mention, our rooms and suites are designed by a number of different designers so it is usually possible to arrange accommodation to meet a guests preferred style; however I am sorry that a suitable alternative had not been available on this occasion. Thank you once again and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on a future occasion. Kindest regards Knut Wylde, General Manager

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend with my husband and have no idea why we have not stayed here before we have been missing out!
The staff at The Berkeley were just a delight couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our stay.
Our room was decorated to a high standard, all furniture, bedlinen and towels etc were of a top quality which is unusual always find London hotels are lovely at first glance until you actually start spending time in the room but at The Berkeley I couldn't fault it.
We used the bar which had a good atmosphere well worth a visit even if your not staying.
Breakfast was excellent and the location is ideal for shopping.
The attention to detail regarding Covid was very reassuring all staff wore masks, hand sanitiser everywhere, temperature checks and everything you touched in your room was marked as sanitised.
We loved our stay and will definitely be returning.

Well, how do I begin to praise the excellent service received! We booked direct with the hotel and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Room was excellent and ready on arrival, even though we arrived mid-morning. Great start. Reception and arrival was faultless, and, as it was a Birthday trip, my room was upgraded to a room two grades above the room booked. Lovely touch which was much appreciated as it had a small tea terrace with views over Hyde Park Corner, also just in time to view the Household Cavalry file past! Had I not known better, I would not have put it past the hotel to have also arranged that!! Champagne, balloons, card, coffee and muffin were also arranged in the room. Overwhelmed by the kind efforts of Giulia and Tatiana in guest relations. I had also pre-booked the eminently Instagrammable Snug for the evening and this was kept for us. A real treat. The barman was willing to make off menu cocktails on request, so Vespers it was!
Doormen were brilliant, friendly and addressed us by surname. What memories they must have!
And the bed! Oh, my Lord. Like sleeping on a cloud! Best hotel beds in London, believe me, we’ve tried them all.
Thoroughly enjoyed the all too brief stay and will definitely recommend. As a more modern sister hotel of our favourite hotel, Claridge’s, it is certainly up there for the warmth of welcome and customer care we have come to adore from this class of hotel. For anyone wanting a Knightsbridge stay on the doorstep of Harrods and Harvey Nics and the V&A/Kensington Palace, treat yourself and book in!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in March 2020 for 1 night in Superior King room.
On arrival we were welcomed for a speedy check in, and shown to our room. The hotel was extremely quiet, with lots of reservations that were cancelled as the UK was heading for lockdown days later.
The room was extremely well appointed, lovely design with details that made you feel special, including well addressed hand written card, welcome plate of snacks.
We were able to enjoy spa treatments and the pool just the 2 of us, I will say that despite there being low capacity in the pool areas, towels were still waiting to be disposed off following use by previous guests. The massage treatments were wonderful and we left feeling extremely relaxed.
We decided to have dinner in the room, and a key selling point for the Berkeley has to be the food. The dinner was incredible, and very much distracted us from the fact that the WIFI was extremely patchy and the coffee machine was a bit of a failure.
Other issues which we experienced was around the drainage system in the bathrooms, although the hotel has been going through a period of refurbishment. Although our stay wasn't perfect, we felt that the staff really did try and go above and beyond with particular thanks going to Maider.
The Berkeley is certainly a 5* hotel, with 5* service and few teething issues with regards to coffee machine, WIFI and drainage which can be easily repaired, something like the service and the wonderful food we experienced at both dinner and breakfast (fantastic portions, organic, high quality) goes a long way to make up for the shortfalls for us.
We will certainly be staying at the Berkeley again.
We would rate the The Berkeley an 8/10.

From our early arrival and meeting Paul to our departure and being waved off by Paul the 4 night stay was excellent.
The concierge were on point, the breakfast was tasty (but rather meagre) and housekeeping was outstanding.
This hotel has a professional but also friendly approach. pricing is similar to other highly regarded establishments but The Berkeley had that little bit more that cannot be put in monetary terms.
Location is second to none, as is the hotel.
A big thank you to all staff.

My wife and I were belatedly celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary so decided to "splash out" on a top London hotel. We had booked a two night package which included valet parking and breakfast and from the moment we arrived to when we left, we received nothing but excellent service in a luxurious but relaxing hotel . The friendly greeting from the concierge who looked after our car (our five year old family saloon seemed pleased to be parked beside a McLaren - if only for a few minutes!!) The charming reception staff. We were upgraded to a larger room and there were a couple of little surprises in the room too.
The Collins Room staff were excellent. We had breakfast on both mornings and nothing was too much trouble. On both occasions I could not believe how specific some people's request for their breakfasts were and the staff took it in their stride. On our second afternoon some family members treated us to afternoon "Pret a portea" tea and they joined us. The tea was amazing and there were 8 of us, as you would expect we very well looked after. Again I saw, possibly one of the more senior staff in the restaurant, have to deal with a difficult situation/guest. Just because you are wealthy does not mean you can have a table where people are already seated!!
After tea we went to the bar but because they couldn't accommodate 8 together they said we could use the Snug as it was available. Usually there is a minimum charge for this. This was perfect and again the staff were excellent.
We had a brilliant stay and I can see why people return (it was evident from conversations overheard at reception and at breakfast that many do) Perhaps one day we will return - we would certainly like to.!
Thank you to everyone at the Berkeley.

Listed as one of London’s finest luxury hotels, we were not impressed by the service. Granted, we didn’t stay in one of the grand suites, so perhaps we didn’t warrant the same level of attention as top end guests.
Despite having submitted a form listing my name as the second guest, the hotel didn’t know I was registered. So I waited for my husband to arrive to vouch for me since he arrived two hours later than I did.
Despite the mix up upon arrival and me being invited to wait in the restaurant (not a big deal in the grand scheme of things) it wasn’t until our third day at the hotel when the housekeeping staff even realized I was there. The housekeeper was in our room while we grabbed our phones and said, “Oh, I didn’t know there were two of you here! I will bring you a second orange and another bottle of sparkling water for your bedside. I wish I’d known all along.”
So for some reason the message we were a twosome didn’t get passed along. There were two other incidents during which the staff in the reception area were “snarky” with me (that’s my interpretation). I expect better in a high end hotel. We stayed at the Belmond Cadogen the last time we were in London and were treated like royalty. We will go back there next time.
Maybe we hit an “off week,” but with a £2500 charge for three nights we expected a more welcoming, accommodating, and warmer experience.
Nobody asked upon checkout how our stay was or if anything could have been better - and if they had I would have shared our experience. The good and the bad. Rarely do I take the time to post criticisms like this online because my preference is to share it directly with the hotel so they can improve.

A first, not only our first time with the Berkeley, the first time we didn't want to come home after seven nights away. The staff are truly wonderful, nothing is too much trouble including switching off the Japanese functions in the toilet (heated seats etc - why, oh why, can't hotels fit separate bidets instead of trendy loos) and providing a parasol for our Terrace. We booked 7 nights in a Junior Terrace Suite and the weather decided we'd made a great choice. The food in this hotel is definitely Premier League even room service, the quality of which can be sporadic in even the best of London 5 stars, excelled. The portions are definitely generous unlike so many of their competitors. Concierge moves mountains and the boys on the door can't do enough for their guests. Our Centurion Manager told us to try the Berkeley rather than the usual Lanesborough and she was absolutely spot on. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough from its Collins Room , its Beach Huts and spectacular Room Service, Housekeeping who are universally delightful and cleaned and tidied while we luxuriated on our terrace and as I've already said front of house, charming and spectacularly good, Concierge who seem to exist to work miracles and the boys outside who handle guests taxi and luggage requirements with aplomb...all in all, an excellent 11/10, We hope to join the hotel again in September for a second dose of Berkeley magic.

The staff made the stay so memorable and wonderful I cannot thank them enough. The girls said they felt like celebrities! In the room when we arrived were pretty duvet covers for little girls beds, balloons, a birthday cake, sweets and treats, by their beds were a tin of toys, a copy of Mary Poppins, little bathrobes for them and kids toiletries in the bathroom. The room was very comfortable and beautiful, everything was perfect, literally the nicest stay and memories made for life for the girls.
They used the pool and the staff gave them pool toys to play with, the restaurant staff, front of house, reception everyone, all so lovely and made us so welcome. Thank you

Thank you for your question.
Our swimming pool is accessed from the 7th floor with wonderful views over Hyde Park/London; it is enclosed and the roof is no longer retractable.
Kind regards
Knut Wylde, General Manager
Sorry for the very late reply. Did not use the pool, so do not know.
Did not see any children under 10 during our 3 day stay. I think there are probably more child-friendly hotels in the area.
"Accessing the shower required stepping into a very deep tub that was a bit precarious. OK for me but I would ask if you have mobility issues"Read full review
