I have stayed at some lovely and charming hotels over the years, but Number Sixteen, a boutique hotel in South Kensington, is the perfect combination of beauty, customer service, and location! Our room was stunning with a wonderful view of the garden, the staff was superb -- cheerful, incredibly helpful and very accommodating, and the location was wonderful, right around...

Recently completed my fourth stay at Number Sixteen and highly recommend. Located near the South Kensington tube station, the hotel is a true gem. When you enter the immediate feel is small and exclusive, quiet, comfortable, and beautiful. The staff is friendly, the sitting areas plush and inviting, and the rooms are large and well designed. The lower levels find...

We stayed for 2 nights for my boyfriends 40th birthday, from the minute I booked over the phone the customer service was personnel, professional and friendly. We were upgraded on arrival and offered some complimentary champagne for our celebration. Nothing was too much trouble, the location is quiet and off the beaten track and the price is not crazy. We...

I stayed in late March and was very pleased. The hotel itself is located on a lovely street with period architecture just a two minute walk from South Kensington tube station, with lots of lovely cafes and shops nearby. The interior of the hotel is tastefully decorated with some really beautiful rooms open to guests such as the library, conservatory...

This place is located in a hot area for design shopping and brunch places, and only a few steps from South Kensington tube station (3 major lines across London) The venue is composed of a few british style homes linked together which keeps the area look like a residential street rather than a hotel. Rooms have been decorated in a...

Our family of 4 stayed here during Easter and had a hard time leaving one of the worlds most charming hotels. This is a home from home place were you feel instantly comfortable and we were able to enjoy an upgrade and stayed in 2 deluxe rooms on the 2nd floor, both beautifully furnished, with a small sitting area, a...

I had the chance to both stay at Hotel Sixteen and hold an event at its sister property, The Soho Hotel. Both are lovely places to stay and in excellent locations. I was lucky to have a junior suite at Hotel Sixteen, so the size of the room was quite large. The most amazing thing this hotel offers is a...

I was afraid if I wore blue jeans, I would not be able to fit in the bathroom door! Seriously, the bathroom is so small you can brush your teeth while you're on the toilet! And the space between the bed and the wall is the size of a small night stand. But the beds are oh so comfortable, the...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
