The Covent Garden Hotel opened in April 1996 but the building dates back to the 1890’s when it operated as a French hospital. It is located in Monmouth Street, a charming cobbled street in the heart of the theatre district and surrounded by interesting boutiques, restaurants, cafes and bars. Covent Garden Hotel is "a quirky modern take on traditional English style." The hotel's interior has been dramatically designed by owner and design director Kit Kemp, and reflects her personal attention to detail. The ground floor is just like a stage set. A quietly bustling lobby leads into Brasserie Max, the hotel’s bar and restaurant. Up a sweeping stone staircase and into a sumptuous wood paneled drawing room and library, each with a log burning fireplace, quirky furniture and vivid upholstery. Downstairs there is a gym, private event space and a screening room.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous service, convenient and well-situated property, delicious and wide ranging food choices, well-appointed, modern and comfortable rooms. The concierge was so helpful with restaurant recommendations both in advance and during our stay and helped us to re-route our travel plans due to a train strike. Our stay was perfection. Highly recommend.

A perfect vacation stay. I so enjoyed my three nights at this property. It is well situated, very comfortable, and the staff is exceptional. This is my first time staying at this hotel, and it will certainly not be my last. I only wish I had stayed longer and London!

Just a perfect hotel. We stay here a few times a year. The staff are friendly and recognise us with a genuine (I think) welcome back each time. A special shout out to Nicky at the concierge desk on this trip. He went out of his way to secure Kit Kemp Alphabet mugs from a local store and had them delivered to my room. Absolutely awesome!

We came down for a couple of nights and stayed at the Covent Garden Hotel. A very classy establishment. Well appointed rooms and the staff were very friendly and professional. Breakfast is cooked to order with vegetarian options. A charming hostelry and I hope to return in the future.

Wow. This is simply a wonderful hotel. Right in the heart of Theatre land and next door to Covent Garden. What a perfect location. The hotel itself is beautiful. Fantastic staff. Fabulous room. Lovely lounge and library area and an honesty bar. We had an evening dinner which was excellent. And breakfast was brilliant. I cannot fault this wonderful hotel. And it is now the only hotel we will stay in when we come to London.

I’ve stayed here, been here for dinner and come here for tea, so I know it can be great. Sadly, not this time. Our lunch main courses were very good. I can’t say the same for our puddings. They never came. “We have 40 minutes until we have to leave to get to the theatre. Is that enough time for pudding?” “That’s no problem. What would you like…” “Can you tell us when our puddings will arrive?” “They will be one minute.” “Hi, can we get an update on our puddings? Also, can I get the bill.” “They will be coming in two minutes.” “Here is the bill. Just to say, we have taken your puddings off the bill.” It would have been great that they took the puddings off the bill if they had then turned up. Sadly not. We were also never told they weren’t coming, nor did we get an apology that they never arrived. By that stage, I’d lost the will to complain. We left the restaurant wondering if they ever turned up. Maybe if we’d waited one more minute. Or maybe two…

Always a huge fan of Firmdale properties - especially in the UK. I always enjoy my stay here as first and foremost this boutique hotel is situated in a primate location - steps away from the West End in one direction, Oxford Street and its amazing shopping in another direction and lastly the historic and fun Covent Garden in another direction. The property's main entrance off Monmouth Street is literally across from Neal's Yard which offers a cute narrow walkway through shopping and dining of every taste. Staff are always welcoming and informed and the rooms are super comfortable, usually quiet and always kept clean and cozy. Be sure to inquire about the room you are being assigned as there are a handful that I would be disappointed with (eg small windows, slanted ceilings in an attic like setting, interior rooms, etc). Not every room is the same and many, like I, have an exact preference. The dining on premises is a popular go to even if you aren't a guest and the bar is very pretty. I also love the central room on the second floor featuring an honor bar and food station. The pillow mist is a must btw.

My wife snd I are in our seventies and love to travel. The service was outstanding I believe due to plenty of well trained and well supervised leadership. This outstanding service does not happen by accident but only by the diligence of following a service oriented company policy. The location is terrific if you love short walks because there are thirty theaters, and at least 100 restaurants, pubs, bars and stores within half a mile of the hotel entrance. We stayed at the Covent Garden Hotel for three weeks in November 2023 . We saw fourteen shows. Four dramas and ten musicals and only “Witness for the Prosecution” we had to take a cab as it was a mile away. The hotel has wonderful 24 hour consierge service ( Augustino and H and others were great) that booked our shows, three total immersion experiences, our Eurostar overnight tickets to Paris and back and lots of our restaurant reservation, and our departing ride to Heathrow Airport. The head of the restaurant, Rainton, made dinning in their restaurant/bar made me feel special. They have 24 hour room service. The twice a day room cleaning and turn down as well as laundry was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable. If you love theater and being in the middle of the Leister Square/ Covent Garden excitement and are mobile. You are making a big mistake if you can afford if you don’t book your next London vacation at this amazing hotel.

Room Tip: Ask the Consierge for maps of the West End as The streets can be very confusing.

I have always wanted to stay at a Firmdale Hotel, and I had high expectations. The Convent Garden Hotel exceeded my expectations. The service is exceptional. All the staff members are great, a big thank you to Ben for his warm welcome, our delightful conversations, and the wonderful tour of the hotel. And a thank you to Agostinho for his warm welcome and for helping us out immensely. The doorman H, who welcomed us to the hotel with Ben was also great. They all made our excellent stay, memorable. Also, a thank you to Rita who checked us out and Akhim, the wonderful, polite young gentleman with her( I think they said it was his first day). The standard room we had was beautifully decorated, comfortable with delightful touches such as a lavender spray provided at turndown service, a welcome treat, and a luxurious bathroom with a handheld shower. There were other thoughtful touches such as magazines in the room, and a delicious in room breakfast service. The hotel is lovely, and the service in the restaurant by Patricia and the rest of the staff was wonderful. My husband and I loved this hotel and we will be back. We highly recommend a stay here.
