My partner and I stayed here for one night in May 2012 and it brought back memories of how terrible English hotels can be at their worst. First, the location was brilliant: a 5 minute walk to Bayswater tube, and plenty of food options, pubs etc along the way. We walked from the hotel through Hyde Park to Knightbridge, and...

My wife and I have just got back from a two night stay at the Gardens Court hotel and had a great weekend. We were welcomed by the very polite, friendly receptionist who made us feel at home and allowed us into our room well before the check-in time. The hotel is in a lovely area, about 5 minutes walk...

Stayed here on my own for what was meant to be 2 nights but turned into 4 after I came down with a cold and had to change my plans to rest up. I was given the single room on the first floor - no ensuite but situated right next to a bathroom so that was quite handy. The room...

I booked this hotel for an overnight stay on my way to Heathrow. It's small, quiet, very clean and in a convenient location (near Paddington station). I wouldn't want to be there for any length of time on holiday, but for a short city stay, it's perfect considering the price. My only gripes would be that the hot water in...

I stayed 3 nights in a single room which was meant to be shared facilities (to save money) but when I got there I was told that I was given a room with an ensuite! I only paid GBP45 per night so this was an amazing find! The room was small, bathroom was small - but it was clean, quiet...

As mentioned by other reviewers already, having a room with shared bathroom for £50 is a great find. The room is not large, but the beds are comfortable, you have a television and a shower (which I didn't expect) and share a clean bathroom - negative side was that the toilets were on the first and second floor...which means you...

there's nothing particularly exceptional about this hotel, sure, but it's a great option for the price. a room with 2 twin beds was £50 a night, which is perfectly reasonable for London. the room was clean, the beds were comfy, and the neighborhood is gorgeous. the only downside is that bayswater is a bit out of the way for anything...

London hotels are, in my experience at least, generally over-priced and not very nice (unless you pay a lot). This hotel was a great find. A small hotel, overlooking a very pretty square. Just 5mins from Bayswater tube station, but very quiet and peaceful. Very welcoming public areas downstairs (and very pleasant staff), and bedroom was clean, quiet and comfortable...

Garden Court Hotel is a great place to stay for a weekend trip to London. Centrally in Kensington/Bayswater area with a short walk to cafés and restaurants in average price range. The Tube is within a few minutes walking distance, Paddington Station within 15 minutes. Rooms are clean and simple, small with basic necessities, as hot water. Service is good,...

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
