Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A clean, spacious room and comfy bed. Staff were friendly and helpful however the bedroom window was level headed with a pathway which was strange and the noise was a nightmare we could hear everything going on in the corridor and the rooms next door to us and a strange drilling noise which went on all day and night for our 2 night stay. The only reason we would stay here again is for the location as that was brilliant!

Hard to see how this hotel is a 4 Star. Best thing about the hotel has to be location. The rest is average at best. Room just ok, nothing special and rather tired with battered furniture and mini fridge just to the side of the dresser. Bar area grubby with table clothes not changed. Breakfast was a poor 3 star standard. Who brews tea in a thermo in 2023 rather than offering hot water and a selection of teabags. Coffee was awful. Buffet items ok but Lukewarm on cold plates. Can’t help but think the hotel could be so much better with a little more attention to details and some overdue investment

I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but the hotel is lovely. It exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious and clean. I asked for a quiet location as was given an excellent room. The front desk and concierge are very helpful and knowledgeable. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family and hope to plan a return visit. The location is fabulous!

Don't do it. If you are still reading at this stage I'll say it again...don't do it. Stale décor and a musty ambiance made the place not just uninviting but almost unsettling. Despite being well-traveled, the subpar service and archaic amenities felt like a comedic tragedy and certainly not what one would anticipate in a prime Mayfair location.

Unfortunately disapointed with my choice in hotel this time arround. People at this hotel are bit the friendliest. THE ROOMS are too noisy. We can hear everything from the door slams in the hallway to all the annoying trucks and whatever activities down stairs. It was just so unconfortable and inconvenient. The room was dated. Curtains were so dirty. Definitely over priced for such low standard. Breakfast was buffer style not great, and not any options. The only thing this hotel has got going for it is it’s location.

I spent two nights in the Washington Mayfair at the beginning of September and received first class service throughout my stay. The room had been recently refurbished and was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and super shower - the toiletries are good quality too. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of options both hot and cold (pastries were delicious). Despite being so central, I was amazed how quiet it was during the night. I slept like a log! Happy to recommend this hotel

Arrived earlier than the designated check-in time so that we could drop off our bags ahead of the Billy Joel concert (with support acts) in Hyde Park and were very pleasantly surprised to find that not only was our room already ready but that we had been upgraded. Despite the upgrade I would not class the room as being 4 star. We each had a different (non-matching) bedside table and a different bedside light. The room decor was also a bit tired in places and would benefit from being replaced if the Washington wants to retain its 4 star rating. After the Billy Joel concert we went into the bar for a night cap. Not a lot of ambience and we quickly went back to our room. Very comfortable bed. Shower was good, shame about the shower curtain as opposed to a shower screen. Again not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was buffet style, so shame that several of the containers were empty (fried eggs, bacon, hash browns) and took a long time to be replenished. Also the stack of plates on the warmer were cold, as no one had turned the plate warmer on. Like the bar area the restaurant had no ambience to it. Unfortunately the Washington Mayfair is far from being a 4 star hotel and is the other end of the quality spectrum when compared to the Chesterfield Mayfair (see my review) where we stayed the following night, which is just around the corner and where a Superior King sized room at the Chesterfield is cheaper than the Classic Double we had booked at the Washington Mayfair.

The hotel room was large, bathroom was spacious, especially after our cramped Paris hotel room. Staff were typically stuffy English. I left my first aid kit in the room when I left and they put it in lost and found. I had been there 8 days, I feel they should have emailed me at the minimum. I contacted them and they were willing to mail it, for a fee. The hotel is near Piccadilly so the Underground is easy but not much to do in the neighborhood if you don't like pubs and cigarette smoke.

Dreadful waste of money. Room 415 smaller than I've had in 2 star hotels. Paint chipping off bathroom door, basket on bath wall not level, hand rail near shower coming away from wall, bath floor slippy so friend grabbed hand rail only to find it moved, found a piece of food in the duvet that was not from anything we had eaten in the room, booked twin room for 2 adults but had to request 2nd bath robe, free toiletries tiny, sofa tired, decor tired, one of the two lifts not working throughout our 2 night stay, picture of room on booking.com website not representative of the actual room, bottom of mirror in bathroom broken away, only 4 small cartons of whole milk supplied - so I bought own milk at Tesco over the road. However, staff were lovely, breakfast good and beds quite narrow but comfortable and good location. Wish I'd saved my money and booked a 2 star hotel. These 2 nights cost £778 and I did not get value for money.

We had recently stayed in Washington Mayfair hotel in London by indication of friends. Our stay has been for six nights, initially two nights from 6/23 to 6/25 and then a further four nights from 6/27 to 6/31 and on this second stay we were given the room 401, in which the curtains blackout did not close, leaving two gaps open, which allowed the entry of light early in the morning (remembering that the sun light at this time of the year appears around 4:50 hrs am). On the same morning of 6/27 to 6/28 we complained about this situation to the hotel reception who told us they would check to resolve it. However, nothing was provided, and no response was given to us until we left the hotel. We consider this a serious fault that greatly affected our sleep schedule. Elderly people usually have sensitive sleep (as is our case), but even for younger people, sun light entering the sleeping room at the morning is unacceptable.
