Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel is in a great location near the tube and a hop on/off bus stop. It’s walkable with many great restaurants and pubs nearby. The staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating and helped us book transportation to the airport. And when I walked into the lobby early morning the day we left, I heard the front desk staff on the phone confirming our pickup. We arrived early and they made a great recommendation for lunch while we waited for our room. The room was perfect for our needs.

It was really important to us, that we have a good hotel in London, since me and my daughter have waited more than ten years for this trip. And Ashburn really delivered! Room was bigger than most hotel rooms in London. It looked beautiful and even luxurious! And the beds....wow! One of the best I have ever slept in. Pillows and linen included. Breakfast was really good. Lots of things to choose from. And the customer service was really good from breakfast room to reception and housekeeping. Couple of days the housekeeper had even folded our nightdresses and arranged a good place to my daughter's plush toy. We checked out yesterday 6 o'clock and were terribly tired because of very active week in London and a very early wake up. That's why it took a while to realize that the receptionist spoke fluent Finnish! One of the most languages to master and not very common either. We would have stayed and talk with him a bit longer and give feedback. Big thank you for him and all the others in reception. Especially those two who were on duty Wednesday evening! I hope our Halloween cupcakes tasted good. :) I watched the lady receptionis in question to serve another customer and she went great lengths to help that customer staying dry while walking to her car. What a service! Me and my daughter recommend hotel Ashburn for everyone. Location was great (tube and bus right next to hotel and food store too), rooms were quiet, bathroom had bath as well as shower and was spotlessly clean. And there was a lift. I walk with crutch and it was easy to reach our room in the 4th floor. Usually all you see from a London hotels' windows is next house and garbage cans, but this time we even had a nice view towards Cromwell road. If I have to come up with something to criticize, the water pressure in the shower could have been better. But on the other hand, almost all hotels in London have the same problem. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff in Ashburn. We will be back next year! P.S I'm afraid we forgot to empty the fridge. Hope someone enjoys the cider that was there. :)

This is the third or fourth time here over the past decade or so, so obviously we have no major problems with this hotel, only some cautionary notes. Location couldn’t be better, with easy access to the tube and the “74” bus to downtown, shopping and restaurants nearby. Note that with the number of hotels nearby, restaurant reservations are recommended. Our room size was reasonable, and the bed comfortable. Limited clothes storage. Location is quiet, given its proximity to a major road, due to excellent soundproofing. Very good lighting throughout. One of my pet peeves is doors that squeak and sinks that don’t hold water; this hotel passed both tests successfully. Wifi was good, although not secure. Fridge worked well. There is a “bigger” TV, but no on-screen program listing, and no streaming services, although the remote indicated that capability. Note that continental breakfast tickets can be purchased at 9.50 GBP per person per day, and they seem to be a reasonable value; however, if on an extended stay, one might want to have breakfast elsewhere occasionally, since the breakfast at the hotel is repetitive. Note that the tub in our room had quite high sides which would give issues for the mobility challenged. Also, the anti-slip provisions in the tub did not extend over the whole floor of the tub. As well, the shower adjustment mechanism is complicated – four separate levers. Why not have an explanation of what each lever does? The only other issue was very inconsistent room cleaning; we never knew what towels we’d have until we returned to the room; housekeeping management needs to kick things up a notch.

I have stayed there many times over the last 13 years. It is certainly not what it once was. At 10pm I had to request cleaning products so I could clean the bath before I used it. The next day the products were removed but the dirty cleaning cloth was left on the floor for our entire 5 day stay. Also bathroom sink was dirty. Staff were pleasant but not very engaging. Extremely overpriced for what we had - you can do better in London. Unfortunately will not be staying there again.

Just spent 2 nights in this delightful hotel, whilst attending concert in Hyde Park. Great location, walking distance to most places and tube station on doorstep. Staff here are amazing, greater reception and breakfast staff. Arrived early but room ready so allowed to check in early. Very spacious room, super comfy beds, really quiet which I was surprised at, as our room was ground floor street level, but we were totally undisturbed. Adequate continental breakfast, with hot cooked available at a very reasonable price if that is your preference. Loved our stay here and would definitely return.

We really were very happy with this hotel. It was clean and nicely furnished and made us feel relaxed and at home. Spacious room too! It is wonderfully located just a few blocks from the V&S and the Natural History Museum. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

We usually search for hotels near Gloucester Road tube station. It has three good lines: Central, District and Piccadilly lines. This time it was the Ashburn Hotel a couple of hundred meters away from the station. Ashburn is a classic English hotel, both in terms of interior design and furnishings. The rooms are reasonably spacious, as is the bathroom. Nice staff and, as I said, close to the metro station. In terms of price, it is also well placed compared to other hotels in the vicinity. We were also in London later in December and then chose to stay at Ashburn again.

Good base, close to Gloucester Road tube, on the Cronwell Road which gave me excellent access to the places I wanted to visit. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The room was a good size and had everything I needed; tea and a comfortable bed after a long day. I was amazed how well I slept next to a busy road. Supplies are a short walk away in Waitrose and Sainsbury’s as was pointed out.
