I had a confirmed booking, paid in advance and after a 24 hour journey was denied a room as they were overbooked. I ended up at midnight trying to find another hotel. The receptionist was totally unhelpful and blamed Agoda who had made the booing who had received no cancellation from the hotel.

I booked a twin room at the Ambassadors Hotel on 6th October through Booking.com to celebrate my 70th birthday with my wife. I got an acknowledgment of my booking straight away. The location looked great (it was) the breakfast sounded a bonus (it was) - and the price of £87 a night seemed almost too good to be true (t...

I stayed at the Ambassadors hotel for 3 nights in November. Having read tripadvisor reviews about the hotel I was prepared for a small room and a relatively poor manager at reception. The staff were better than expected but the room managed to come below expectations nevertheless. The rooms were indeed small but so small that in a double room...

I booked this hotel some time ago as a surprise for my daughters birthday. The whole family were due to go but on seeing numerous, poor recent reviews I wasn't taking a chance on a bad hotel and wasn't prepared to disappoint my daughter so cancelled the day before arrival. It didn't stop the hotel taking my money! A word...

We booked this hotel due to it's location and the promise of free on-site parking, also it seemed quite a bargain compared to prices of other hotels nearby. It is indeed well located, close to an underground station and within a pleasant walk of many tourist attractions. There is no on-site parking. If you are lucky enough to find a...

I spent 3 nights in this hotel last week. It has a very good location, in one of the most expensive areas in LOndon (Chelsea) and considering this it is quite cheap. I was in a triple en-suite room that was not too small and very tidy and clean, even if the forniture was old. The bathroom was clean, too....

Booked 2 rooms. Both were up in the eaves. Ours smelled dreadfully of paint or cleaning fluid and as we were then on our way out I asked the receptionist to sort us out another room before we returned. On our return nothing had been done and they offered to change the room the next day. Not much good as...

We selected this hotel having viewed it online. As we were meeting up with friends, we booked the hotel as it had a bar that we could meet at. On arrival we were informed that the new owner did not want any alcohol on the premises so had taken the bar down. This should have been made clear as we wouldn't...

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. 6 floors and only one lift. Bathroom has antique taps with only a trickle of water. It seems management have not really seen other hotels and what comfort means. Breakfast: cold scrambled egg. Cold sausages . The staff are helpful and kind. No free Wi-Fi. Incredible in today's world. Will...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
