The Strand Palace Hotel garners acclaim for its impeccable cleanliness and inviting atmosphere, with its eclectic modern rooms often highlighted by visitors. While opinions on value vary, with some guests citing great deals and others pointing out pricing issues, the central location near Covent Garden is universally praised, albeit with some noise concerns. The hotel's amenities, including the breakfast buffet and Gin Palace bar, consistently earn rave reviews. Despite occasional service hiccups, the staff's attentiveness is frequently commended, although noise level and room variability remain points of contention for some travelers.

I arrived just before 5pm, already late for a business event so I checked in and asked to leave my luggage in the luggage room, so I could race away. The doorman realised that I'd gotten lost on the way to the luggage room and was so helpful in proactively showing me the way; then he realised I had a room, and offered to take my bag up to my room for me so I didn't have to faff when I got back later that night. It was so appreciated.

When I got back later than evening, I arrived at the room to find it absolutely spotless. The man at check-in, Ravnak (sorry if I've spelt this incorrectly!) , gave me a complimentary upgrade to a twin room which was great and the room was well furnished. They provide 2 reusable water bottles and filling stations throughout the hotel, so you can always access fresh water whilst remaining green and there's an umbrella in the room you can use, as well as a safe, hangers, iron + board, and hairdryer (along with the usual tea facilities).

The room was spotless, including the bathroom. In fact, the shower was so clean I didn't realise a bath sheet had been folded up at the bottom for me to lay on the floor, and I absolutely soaked it (sorry, housekeeping..) but its a testament to just how pristine it was.

The bed was incredibly comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was lovely. It's served as a buffet style which is absolutely fine for when you're half awake in the morning like I am and the options are relentless for want of a better word.

Checkout was smooth, and about an hour later I realised I'd left my toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom. I called reception to see if they could locate them for me and I'd return at 1pm, they were brilliant. They called me back once they located them, and had them ready for me to pick up when I went back.

I haven't found a single thing from my experience that I would want to improve, and I felt very lucky to have been able to stay at this hotel for business. I'd come back for a personal trip too, as its excellently situated for a day around London.

If being honest London would have been the last place i chose to visit, its been 40 years since i was last here and its only due to the pandemic i visit now. Its not i had any dislike for London just the fact there are so many other places to see, However what i experienced shocked me!!!

As someone who has visited Milan, Paris, New York to name but three of the many places i have been fortunate to visit, London is up there with the best of them.

The Hotel is easy to get to from Heathrow, jump on the subway to Covent Garden and its about a 5 min walk if that.

Check in was a breeze, arrived early and it wasnt an issue, Kevin on reception was a great help and very professional.

Room
was on 7th floor had a window but did not over look any streets, not an issue.

Cleanliness
First impressions were that it was spotless couldnt fault it, a few minor things in bathroom where grout in tiles has fallen out but nothing serious.......well not that i noticed until day of checkout

Sleep was great, very little noise apart from the AC which was needed due to the temperature.

Breakfast

Buffet style but not self service.
If asking for white bread make sure you ask for Untoasted Toast as person taking order didnt have a clue what 2 slices of white bread was and came back with about 8 slices of thinly slices of something, not sure what. When i finally managed to explain i was informed that what i wanted was untoasted toast ( found this hilarious )

Location is fantastic, nearest subway will take you directly to most of the major attractions, others are within walking distance.

Check out

As mentioned previously when first entering our room is was as if it has just been renovated, looked spotless but on checkout day i got a surprise.

Usually i would check everywhere when arriving but this time i just didnt feel i had to, I WAS WRONG.

Most if not all of us on our last day as we pack our bags will check everywhere just in case when have dropped something, safe, wardrobes, bathroom and under bed! It was here under the bed in room 790 that i came ( maybe wrong choice of word ) across a box of condoms with the ripped packing of one. Now being 52 years old, having had the snip 27 years ago and sharing this room with my wife, either my wife has some explaining to do or this room wasnt cleaned properly. My guess given the fact my wife and myself were together the whole trip is that the cleaning staff let this slip through their fingers.
Now i checked out yesterday sunday the 14th, room should have been cleaned for any new guests hopefully its been removed as the next guests may not be so easy going

Apart from that i cant find fault with this hotel, its a gem in an ideal location and YES we will be back, however it wont take me so long next time to revisit

Ps next time maybe some viagra could be left under bed instead of condoms given my age and heart condition lol

Dear Ray, Thank you for recent review! We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us in London - we are indeed one of the greatest cities in the world! I would like to thank you for your very honest feedback - without which we cannot learn! The feedback has been passed on to the relevant departments and our housekeeping team will ensure when checking rooms, we are sticking to our (usually) very high standards as I appreciate that this was not the discovery you were expecting. Ray, we would be absolutely delighted to welcome to back and although we cannot provide the welcome gift of your choice - we are sure any future stay with us will be as enjoyable as your last! Stayed for 3 nights in the middle of a heatwave, deliciously cool as soon as you entered reception, great air con. The hotel receptionist was very helpful in getting a fridge installed in our room. We booked a twin superior not realising that a fridge was not included but after speaking to the receptionist we had a fridge delivered to the room within 15 mins, excellent service!

Our room was quite small but very clean and modern. Loved the shutters, great for blocking out the sun. The twin beds were a king size bed unzipped, no space in between but it was fine for us, they were very comfortable with nice pillows. The bathroom was newly renovated and nicely done, found the toilet roll holder a bit unpractical as it’s very close to the floor, ended up with the paper trailing across the floor more than once! Loved the White Company toiletries though.

A bit of a niggle was that there is only one ice machine in the hotel and it wasn’t working for the 3 days of our stay. We had to keep asking the bar staff for ice buckets but they were very obliging. We found all the staff very pleasant and helpful.

The one way system they have in place for COVID works very well and there are good hygiene procedures in place, we felt very comfortable staying there.

The location of the hotel is great, lots of shops and convenience stores within 5-10 minutes walk. Not all restaurants are open yet but we managed to find enough places to eat, you’re close to Covent Garden and Leicester Square, also it isn’t far to Soho, all walking distance.

We really enjoyed our stay here and have booked again for October.

So the location is perfect especially if you're going to a West End show or plan on being around that area at night. You could be in your hotel room in no time.
The hotel also went through a big renovation over the last few years and this could have been a great opportunity to improve a few things.
They've added a better chair to the rooms as what they had before was some sort of stool. Now you can recline your back, watch TV or eat something at a small table instead of doing that from your bed. The other desk below the TV is a strange one and mostly used just to leave your stuff. If you try to eat there you'll have to manspread your legs so it's pretty uncomfortable.

Small toilette (not sure an overweight person would fit there) and bathroom has no door.
If housekeeping decide to come in (even when the do not disturb sign is on) and you're showering then your privacy will go out the window. First thing they'll see as they open the door is you naked in the shower...and you might not even notice it! This happened so not sure how this could be fixed but if the 'Do Not Disturb' sign is hanging from the door perhaps don't come in?

Lastly, there is a sign saying that your room has been cleaned and disinfected before your visit so this is important especially during Covid times. Unfortunately, room cleanliness wasn't up to standards. Found hairs that weren't mine on the bathroom floor, shower wasn't properly cleaned and found what I hope was raisins and not mice droppings on the floor. I am attaching pictures as proof.

Apologies for the slightly late review - we visited the week of 19th July.
An excellant location on the Strand approx £12 in a taxi from St Pancras, this hotel has recently undergone a full refurbishment to a very high standard.
The Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, we were on the 8th floor in a junior suite which was spacious and had a good lay out, we paid extra to include breakfast which was a buffet style, full english, toast and muffins etc
The location is ideal for Covent Garden and the south bank and there are plenty of restaurants round and about.
All in all a great stay and would highly recommend.

Quite simply, this was a great stay. According to the staff, the hotel was recently newly renovated – and it shows! Our Superior Twin Room was very contemporary and had these excellent, sliding blackout shutters I really liked; the shower room was spotlessly clean and beds super comfortable. The downstairs lobby is large and open, and the front desk staff courteous and were happy to store our luggage before official check-in.

All in all, I would return without a shadow of a doubt.

Matkustimme hyvin poikkeuksellisena aikana hotellissa. Hotelli oli siisti ja henkilökunta varsin ystävällistä. Hotelli sijaitsee keskeisellä paikalla Lontoossa, kaikki nähtävyydet lähes kävelymatkan päässä. Aamupala tarjonta jätti kuitenkin toivomisen varaa. Ymmärrämme toki korona viruksen tuomat haasteet, mutta olimme silti maksaneet hotellihuoneesta täyden hinnan ja odotuksella ”buffet aamupalasta”.

We traveled during a very exceptional time at the hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff quite friendly. The hotel is centrally located in London, close to all attractions within walking distance. However, the breakfast supply left something to be desired. Sure, we understand the challenges posed by the Covid-19 but we still paid the full price for the hotel room and with the expectation of a “buffet breakfast”.

Dear Niko, Thank you for your recent review. With the current situation and as per government guidelines, we have opted not to provide a buffet breakfast, in the interest of both staff and guests safety. Instead, we are offering an A La Carte menu at a lesser price than our original buffet breakfast. I do hope that despite this, you enjoyed your stay. Kind Regards Holly Front Office Manager

Visited London for three days with my daughter in mid July and booked a late deal for this hotel and got a fantastic price for B&B in a deluxe room. Arrived early so the room wasn’t ready but staff were helpful, checking us in and keeping our case whilst we went out to explore. We visited during one of the hottest weeks of the year and the air conditioned room was a blessing! The bed was comfortable and we also had a sofa bed in our room that could be made up if we needed it. Our room faced directly on to the Strand, however with the shutters closed it was practically silent and did not disturb our sleep at night. The room decor was modern, clean and comfortable and there was plenty of space for both of us, alongside the mini bar, we both loved our room. We had a shower room rather than a bathroom and again there was plenty of space for both of us and the fittings were clean and modern. Breakfast each morning was tasty and fairly quiet, although we did eat quite early. All staff we spoke with were exceptional and extremely helpful with a special mention for Muhammad who helped us with our case and hailed a taxi for us as we were leaving - he is a star! For the price we paid, I’d gladly stay again as the location cannot be beat, we loved the whole ‘deco’ feel of the hotel and thoroughly felt at ease here.

This hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to public transportation and sights. We took the Piccadilly line from LHR ( no change of trains) to Covent Garden. It’s a short walk from there, so super convenient. It’s also located near Embankment station and Gordon’s Wine Bar ( London’s oldest wine bar). The staff let us check in early with no extra cost which was a huge bonus in my book! I had a cozy single room ( I think that’s what it was called). I thought it was rather small, but then realized I wasn’t in the room that much. And after two nights, realized I had all the space I needed! The bathroom was updated and nice ( good water pressure too). The air worked great and my room was quiet. I asked for a ‘quiet room’ so was given an interior room as it’s located on a busy street. The hotel gives you an option to ‘go green’ during your stay. You hang the ‘go green’ sign on your door to ‘opt out’ of maid/cleaning service while there. For every day you opt in, you receive a voucher under your door. You can use it in the restaurant at the hotel and receive 1 of 3 choices: £7 credit towards your bill, free glass of wine or free dessert. I think this is a wonderful idea, so I took advantage of it. There is an amazing breakfast buffet that is included in your room stay ( but not all reservations include it). I would stay here again if ever in the area. It’s directly across the street from the Savoy and surrounded by multiple theaters.

Been staying here every year since 2014-except last year but we won’t talk about that- , & it’s always perfect! The location, the staff, the cleanliness, it’s all spot on.
The rooms are tiny & it is a bit pricey but you’re in London & the location & service more than makes up for that.
This year you have the option of not getting your room cleaned & you get a voucher for £7 for each night & I love this idea! It conserve water & helps deal with short staffing post Covid, & really do we need our rooms cleaned every day? Not really!
Thinks guys! Keep up the good work!
