The hotel is great for location but it’s a tourist hotel. It’s ideal for musicals and general entertainment n food. No doubt about that. The services and rooms are however not desirable especially on a business trip! It’s a tad tacky. The deluxe room is so small . Staff are generally not helpful ! The stay was salvaged only by 1 outstanding member of their team , Raunak. Not only is he resourceful, he applies sense of what a customer may need and take extra steps to help solve issues! He even checks in to see if I was fine with my room change and remembers me afterwards! I feel he genuinely cares about what he does. The rest of the team seems clueless and just executing below standard service with ridiculous answers.

I arrived just before 5pm, already late for a business event so I checked in and asked to leave my luggage in the luggage room, so I could race away. The doorman realised that I'd gotten lost on the way to the luggage room and was so helpful in proactively showing me the way; then he realised I had a room, and offered to take my bag up to my room for me so I didn't have to faff when I got back later that night. It was so appreciated. When I got back later than evening, I arrived at the room to find it absolutely spotless. The man at check-in, Ravnak (sorry if I've spelt this incorrectly!) , gave me a complimentary upgrade to a twin room which was great and the room was well furnished. They provide 2 reusable water bottles and filling stations throughout the hotel, so you can always access fresh water whilst remaining green and there's an umbrella in the room you can use, as well as a safe, hangers, iron + board, and hairdryer (along with the usual tea facilities). The room was spotless, including the bathroom. In fact, the shower was so clean I didn't realise a bath sheet had been folded up at the bottom for me to lay on the floor, and I absolutely soaked it (sorry, housekeeping..) but its a testament to just how pristine it was. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was lovely. It's served as a buffet style which is absolutely fine for when you're half awake in the morning like I am and the options are relentless for want of a better word. Checkout was smooth, and about an hour later I realised I'd left my toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom. I called reception to see if they could locate them for me and I'd return at 1pm, they were brilliant. They called me back once they located them, and had them ready for me to pick up when I went back. I haven't found a single thing from my experience that I would want to improve, and I felt very lucky to have been able to stay at this hotel for business. A beautifully presented hotel, feels like a 5 star but not at 5 star prices. Really well looked after by Raunale, got upgraded to a deluxe king room with complimentary mini bar and had a great nights sleep. Perfect.

Pillows were foam filled and not very comfortable. Room very small but clean and I’d guess relatively recently refurbished. Great shower. ‘Extra large’ double bed was only 5ft with mattress that bounced whenever either partner moved in the night. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially at the Haxells restaurant. Excellent breakfast.

I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed this hotel. It is huge and there is clearly a big turnover of clientele, but it was really good...Think of a more upmarket Premier Inn, where you have everything you need. Gifts were left for my daughter in the room which I thought was a great touch. Lovely big bed, lots of tea and coffee options in the room, dressing gowns etc. Good minibar selection if you are into that. I thought the room service menu could have had a few more choices though, and it is eyewateringly expensive. The breakfast buffet was great. So many choices and really good quality. Organised well so you don't have to wait or queue too long for things. The checkin staff were fantastic and friendly as were the porters and waiting staff. My only issue was on Saturday afternoon at 5.30pm not being allowed into the casual bar / restaurant dor a drink even though there were lots of tables free. It just didn't make sense at all. Our hotel looked onto The Strand itself, but honestly we had a really peaceful night and was not disturbed by the traffic. We know London well, but if you are a tourist then the location of the hotel is fantastic. 5 min walk to Covent Garden and lots of theatres, and 15 mins across the bridge to the Southbank. Can't get any better. I would definitely stay here again.…
