Hotel pros: Less than 10 minute walk from Oxford Street tube station and Oxford st. Local restaurants very close, cosy pub opposite, the Yorkshire Grey (only serves food mon - fri). The welcome at the hotel was warm and friendly and they were able to let us in to room earlier than check in which was very helpful after a long journey. Room was spotless and included tea and coffee making things (except spoons or stirers). Nice black out curtains and comfy bed. The bathroom was very clean and it had a good shower. Nice to have soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel included (plus shower cap). Extra loo roll too. The lobby area downstairs is a nice to relax in and enjoy a drink before bed, the hoteleven indulged my craving for something sweet and allowed me to have a slice of cheesecake from their menu even though it was quite late. Thank you to all the staff for being so efficient and friendly. Notes for other travellers: There's no airconditioning so rooms are warm. We were in 406 and the bathroom is a little on the small side so if you are very tall watch your knees if you sit to use the loo. We did have a very good nights sleep but there was a nearby party/ club that played their music loud, it was a Saturday night so expected in London and we were able to sleep so it wasn't a problem for us but you may want to check with the hotel if this is a regular thing or if it's every weekend. Hair dryer; this is a bug bear of mine and nothing against the hotel but the hairdryer is attached to the inside of the drawer and you have to hold the button down for air flow. These sort of hair dryers just annoy me in general but it's worth noting for others who are hair savvy. Summary; good location, nice rooms amd pleasant helpful and accommodating staff. …
Would stay here again. Great location, comfortable room, great breakfast. Enjoyed my stay. Free WiFi is always handy. Staff were friendly too. Room was very clean, bedding very comfortable didn't even turn the TV on as it was so quiet I was happy to read a book!
After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried but the hotel was fantastic. Lovely friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful. Super clean room and extremely well appointed. Small but this is london after all! Good breakfast and great location we will certainly be back.…
Booked this hotel for its convenient location. Staff were nice, but when we checked in we were given Lower Ground rooms 6 and 7. I asked if they had windows, and was assured that there were. However, when shown the rooms, they were absolutely awful, cramped and hot and down amongst high staff activity. There was a window, but when opened for fresh air, it opened on to an area with bins and lots of staff! We asked to move, and were transferred to much better rooms on 3rd floor, which were light and airy and great.…
I used to work in the BBC for years just round the corner of this hotel and we used to come and use the bar and also put our guests up in the hotel. I stayed for one night and arrived at midday as I'd travelled from Belgium that morning so pretty tired. The reception lady was not at all friendly or welcoming, I asked if there's any chance of checking in early as I'd like to freshen up after travelling and she said no I would have to wait till 3pm exactly, but would store my luggage. She didn't give me any place to freshen up or a place to even open my suitcase and get a change of clothing, some toiletries and make up out. It was quite embarrassing as I had to open the suitcase on the floor of the reception, I've had back surgery recently so not ideal with the bending over so had to kneel on the actual floor with my suitcase open and all my personal items spread around! She still said nothing. A place to open your suitcase would have been normal in a hotel or even a smile here and there. After having to put my make up on at the reception area and use the toilet to change I handed in my luggage and she didn't even ask if I needed anything else, a taxi, help with my bags nothing .... very unfriendly and not how I remember the hotel at all. I arrived back and checked in at 4pm and another woman was on the reception, again not welcoming, the luggage guy was very helpful and said he'd bring up my luggage for me as so heavy which was a nice touch and I was so grateful. My room was a single and I knew it would be small. It was averagely clean nothing special except the net curtains were hanging off the window and were very dirty, the blind also took some wiggling to get down coming down at an angel. The bathroom was tiny and ok for just one person and the shower hot. The room was tired and needed some TLC, I am guessing most of the rooms in the hotel are like this, the lift was SO heavy it was impossible to open the door with a bag in your hand. My room was by the lift too so all through the night the heavy door would slam and I'd jump out my skin as it sounded like someone was coming in ! We had drinks in the bar with old BBC colleagues and the bar lady was extremely friendly and helpful - shame she isn't on the reception! Overall its a tired hotel in need of some love, the reception staff need a lesson in customer service, the bar would be fantastic if they updated it too as the bar lady was lovely and made great drinks. Checking out was easy but again the reception staff seemed unhappy and unfriendly, she didn't even say goodbye! Cheer up ladies ! I will be staying again overnight as its very nostalgic for me and near the BBC for meetings and meeting up with staff and also a good location if you are shopping in Oxford or Regent Street.…
"a room on the front of Langham Street is lovely to look out of but quite noisy especially by the lift"Read full review
