Hilton London Paddington has the advantage of being directly connected to Paddington Station by footbridge. We are just 15 minutes from Heathrow airport via the Heathrow Express and have 5 London Underground lines on our doorstep — Circle, Hammersmith and City, District, Bakerloo and Elizabeth Line. From shows in the West End to shopping on Oxford Street, there is nothing is too far away from our hotel. There is a fitness centre on site and 19 meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 350 guests. Hilton London Paddington also has Wi-Fi in each of the hotel rooms and throughout the rest of the hotel (complimentary to Hilton Honors members). When it comes to dining, choose from our Carriages Restaurant or the iconic London-inspired bar, 146 Paddington, both of which provide excellent quality cuisine to suit everyone.

Pluses: Heathrow Express stop. You can get from airport to hotel in 15 minutes in a driving rain storm without getting wet. You can purchase all British National and regional train tickets at Paddington. Short wait and friendly staff at ticket office. Two short underground stops to Marylebone station to Oxford and Bicester Outlet Mall. Direct bus route (205) outside hotel to King’s Cross or St. Pancras Station. Minuses: Despite access to many Underground lines, they all require some walk except for Bakerloo. And there are steps to climb so luggage potentially is a problem. The new Elizebeth line is right next door but you need to go outside for a short distance to get to the entrance. This line is very friendly for luggage. Proximity to train station means crowd in the area. It’s a very large and busy station. Lots of fast food and exchanges places, numerous roadside shops. If you like a serene place, this is definitely not it. The hotel: This is a hotel probably not owned by Hilton. Hilton appears to just manage the facility. There is clear weakness in the hotel staff. They are reasonably efficient but not warm and friendly like most European Hilton facilities. This is a facility used by travelers for business travel and short stay. No one appears to be looking for warm service. Just good breakfast and fast check in and out. You get two bottles of water but nothing more regardless of status. Housekeeping was hit and miss. During my 8 day stay, they missed one cleaning and removed but forgot to replace bath towels during another. I was out of shampoo the entire stay but no one checked or took care of the refill. The upgraded room was large but a bit old with noisy plumbing. Bed was comfortable as are the pillows and down cover. Despite the large volume of buses and cars around and in front of the hotel, my second floor room was very quiet suggesting excellent sound insulation. The only USB port in the room was so worn I could not secure the plug. So plan to bring a transformer. There were three slow elevators for the entire building but one was out of service for multiple days compounding the delay in getting to and from your room. And there was the fire alarm going off at midnight which was not the hotel’s fault as someone had pulled a prank. In summary, unless you really value the convenience getting to and from the airport which is not negligible, there are better Hiltons in London.

I was looking for a hotel that was easy to get to on my first day of atty so and chose this one. Nice historic property connected to Paddington Station. Warmly greeted at check in. Hilton Diamond member and upgraded to a larger room but not a suite that faced the interior. This provided a nice quiet night of sleep as the hotel is on a very busy street. Room amenities were standard cookie cutter Hilton. Access to the executive lounge. Evening had a nice selection of snacks. Breakfast was provided in lounge or the restaurant. I opted for the restaurant and it was very good with a lot of choices. Very easy access to the train station and the tube is directly across the street.

Nice big terrace room - but the gate to the next terrace was unlocked which unnerved us a bit - made certain that doors to room from terrace were locked and curtains drawn at all times. Usual dated Hilton furnishings and usual need to re-clean the room upon arrival. Bathroom was clean - which is the most important thing. Room service wasn't great - we were clear in our order that we wanted salt/pepper/ketchup (red sauce) for the mac and cheese but none arrived. Didn't notice before server raced away. Pizza was NOT good. Only ordered once as a result. Luckily it wasn't far to get fast food or sandwiches at the Station. Breakfast in Executive Lounge was subpar - not nearly as good as the breakfast offered in the restaurant - and again, cleanliness was an issue. (Advice: pay for breakfast if you want to eat at the hotel before you start your day.) EXCELLENT shop around the corner (SPRING STORE on Spring Street) for that extra piece of luggage you need or ANY SOUVENIR that you have to get for a work mate. Best thing is the location - which is absolutely perfect for us - visit London, head out to Henley, Bath or Cornwall to visit family and get back and forth from Heathrow. On basis of location, much better than the Metropole - but they were starting renos at the Metropole (stayed there on this trip as well) so it might be better furnished by the time of this writing. May try the Indigo next time - though that easy walk from the train to the Hilton Paddington is very persuasive for another stay here.

For my tastes, I think this is the ideal hotel for a tourist weekend in London. First, the location. Adjacent to Paddington Station (you don’t even have to leave it), the hotel is minutes from Heathrow. Literally minutes on the Heathrow Express or the Elizabeth Line. Yet, it is also extremely accessible to all of Central London via the tube. The British Museum for example is two quick stops on the Elizabeth Line and a few minute’s walk. I particularly loved the location as a solo traveler as the convenient grab and go food options at the station (M&S and other quick spots) suited me perfectly. Second, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and beautifully styled in genuine art deco fashion. I was upgraded to a tower room as a Diamond member and was very pleased with it. (Special thanks to the friendly red-headed member of the cleaning crew - sorry I don’t know the name - who did a great job.) Third, breakfast was excellent. While there were plenty of good options, some folks were just filling up bowls with the beautiful berries that were continuously brought out by the efficient staff. So fresh and a real treat. Finally, the value was excellent especially with the diamond perks including the breakfast and lounge access. Obviously these things fluctuate and a winter weekend was probably a good time to visit but I would have expected to pay much more for what I got (and certainly could have at other hotels. I would absolutely come back when next in London. And btw I would imagine the hotel is great for business too depending on where one needed to be. It would even be worth going somewhat out of the way for!

WOULD GIVE ZERO BUT NO ZERO RATING AVAILABLE Very dirty rooms and bathrooms worn out and damaged fixtures and fittings. Morning housekeeping who refuse to clean, faulty appliances, woken up every morning early hours by construction works opposite. General malaise and laziness amongst staff, very unhappy and disinterested in their guests. Complete lack of respect toward their guests. Bedding had not been changed, not clean, floors not hoovered, crumbs on floor, dust in drawers, toiletries not replenished all empty on arrival no tissues

I chose this hotel because it is right across the street from the tube, specifically the Elizabeth line, and it is historic with a beautiful exterior. The room is very spacious and art deco, but feels old, which just depends on your taste. And if you like giant cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, this place is definitely for you! Are uncleaned bathrooms your jam? Definitely book your stay here. The tub looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a month. It has the dirty water lines crusted around the bottom. I don't even want to step foot in there. Oh, sure, there's a floor mat, but it's stained a brown-grey color – another place I don't want to step my bare feet. To top it off, there is a construction site right out the window, so you wake up to the lovely sound of jackhammers. If you want this location, find somewhere else nearby.
