The Darlington Hyde Park hotel garners praise for its prime location near Paddington Station and the inclusion of a full English breakfast, which guests find adds to its value. While travelers frequently commend the hotel's cleanliness and the helpful staff, opinions on room sizes vary, with some finding them spacious and others experiencing noise issues. The atmosphere is considered comfortable, though a few guests have noted signs of wear. Despite mixed reviews on value, the hotel's amenities and service generally receive positive remarks.

Arrival is easy, it is approximately a 2-5 minute walk from Paddington Station. There are tons of restaurants in the area, with easy takeout or sit down dining. The staff at the Darlington were so pleasant and friendly, at check in, at breakfast, for any questions we had.
We stayed in a quad room (2 bedrooms), it was fantastic for two adults and our two mid sized children, having some extra space gave everyone a better trip. We booked direct, so we got the full cooked breakfast every morning included, which saved us so much money and time. I reached out ahead of time with a question and received an email back quite quickly.
The layout is very neat, it is a space of converted townhouses, so the rooms were unique and felt more genuine than a big square hotel. Besides being close to Paddington, the other direction is a close walk to Hyde Park and to a different set of tube stations or bus stations. I felt it was a fantastic location for using public transportation.
We spent 8 nights there and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights to attend a wedding just after Christmas. The hotel is very conveniently located for walks in Hyde Park and there are lots of nice places to eat within a short distance. Getting a taxi right outside the hotel was no problem and although the road outside can be busy the windows in the rooms are well soundproofed and you could hardly hear any traffic. Overall a very nice experience.

On arrival the reception staff were very welcoming, the room was spotless and very comfortable, a twin bedroom and a separate double room, the beds were very comfortable and the room quiet. Good clean rooms with good quality bed linen, bathrooms well stocked with quality towels and toiletries etc. The breakfast room was very comfortable and the continental breakfast was sufficient. The lady working the breakfast room was very pleasant serving coffee and toast to the table. The location is perfect for Paddington station/underground, a 5 minute stroll, there are a few bars and restaurants close by. All in all a very relaxed stay at an affordable hotel of a good standard.

Three of us stayed at the Darlington Hyde Park hotel for one night before we left London. The location was perfect for Paddington Station and the Heathrow Express train. The hotel was extremely clean, the breakfast good, and the host on duty was excellent.

If we come back to London, we will most likely stay here for our city base location given the number of restaurants in the area and the quiet nature of this section of town. We had previously stayed at a different hotel in another part of London earlier during our trip and although the first hotel was excellent, it was across the street from a university whose students were out making noise for hours. By contrast, we had no trouble sleeping at the Darlington.

We also liked that the hotel had nice fluffy towels for the bath and a proper kettle and tea for the evening. The host gave us directions to see some final sites in London before we left and was very gracious. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quality room without having to pay the extreme prices that other London hotel owners charge.

Stayed at the Darlingon at the end of March 2023 for 6 nights. A parent with two children (13 & 9) we opted for the quad room so each one of us can have his own bed. The quad room we got we composed of a small corridor connecting two completely separate rooms and the bathroom. Both rooms where quite large (especially for London) one having a very large double bed and the second having two single beds. A pleasant surprise to find so much space in London. The bathroom was nice with a nice tub we used for a nice bath after long day trips. The wifi single was fine throughout the room and hotel. The double bed room faced the inner court so it was very quiet throughout the day and night. The two single beds room where facing the street and was a little bit nosier. However, since the road is not a very busy one the noise level will be acceptable to the majority if people. This is a small hotel so we hardly heard or saw any of the other guest, however some noise from the other rooms can be heard. The hotel informs the clients at the reservation that the rooms are not cleaned everyday but only once during a 5 day stay. Our room was indeed cleaned up only once during our stay. This was just fine with us as the room was very clean when we got it and a huge amount of towels were provided. The English breakfast we received (only for direct bookings) was very minimal even for London's standard - my kids did not find anything they liked. Some vegetables, bread and cheese spread will improve the breakfast a lot. However, most adults who are used to this type of breakfast will be just fine. The location if quite close to the Paddington railway & tube station which is very convenient. It took me about 8 minutes to get to the main building of the station. It's also close to the Lancaster gate tube station of the central line and many bus lines. However, if traveling with small children I would consider a hotel closer to a tube station. The surrounding area is quite nice and quiet with several good restaurants (and Mcdonald's) only a few minutes walk. Paddington station has two super-markets and many cafes and stores. Overall we had a great stay at the Darlington.

My friend and I stayed here is we wanted to be close to Paddington Station (5 mins walk) and Kensington Palace (25 min walk max) and Marble Arch Tour Bus stop (10 min walk) so it was perfect.

We had a lovely warm welcome from Dominika the manager and were able to leave our cases there on our arrival and departure day which was very important to us.

The hotel and our room were spotless, and there were directions arrows and hand
sanitisers everywhere so Covid precautions were taken very seriously and followed. The staff are safely behind a screen in reception.

Our room at the back on the first floor was so quiet we could leave the window open. The room seemed freshly decorated with a spotless new looking bathroom both to a higher standard than other more expensive hotels I have stayed in.

All I can say is if you want an excellent location for exploring London, look no further. Excellent value, with brilliant staff, spotlessly clean and great cooked breakfast. Look no further - go and visit Dominika and her team.

PS The Monkey Puzzle Pub a few doors up the road, was great for our evening meal, great staff, lovely food and good prices.

TOXIC FUMES ABOUD! Not only was the state of this hotel one that I would not wish upon anyone, but the customer service was deplorable. There are toxic paint fumes in the rooms. So bad in fact, that I could not even sleep. I had the bathroom fan on, a room fan, and the windows open. Seeing a rat trap outside of the window made me quickly close the window though. As I was meant to stay another two nights, I asked to be put in another room. They were resistant but agreed. I asked if it TOO had been recently painted, they said that yes it had- about a month ago, the same as the room I had the first night. Not wanting to inhale more toxic fumes and go without sleep, I asked to cancel my (prepaid) booking. They only refunded one of the two nights, which they said they did not even have to do. I insisted that they refund both and they grew increasingly more inconsiderate. Stay elsewhere.

Dear Ms Delany, Thank you for taking time to post review of The Darlington Hyde Park Hotel on Trip Advisor, Google and Facebook. I am most grateful for your feedback which is a valuable source of information for us, regardless of whether it is good or bad. It helps us monitor the service we provide. I was saddened to learn that your stay with us was such a disappointment. Your first booking was for 1 night in a double room and when you arrived you were given an early check-in as the room was ready however after a few minutes in the room you approached the reception saying the room was too near the lift and asked for a change of room which we were able to arrange. However the next morning you stated that you couldn’t sleep and you felt sick from the paint smell but as you had not made any complaints till the next morning there was nothing we could have done to alleviate the situation. Your second booking was for a twin room booked under the non- refundable offer (for the 2nd & 3rd night). This room was on another floor and had been painted before January 2020 and many guests had already stayed in it without complaint of it smelling of paint. You stated that you didn’t want to stay with us for the other 2 nights without even bothering to test the twin room for any smell of paint. We were sorry to hear that and reminded you that this room was booked under the non-refundable conditions and it had been already charged and couldn’t be cancelled with no good reason. You asked if we could cancel and refund the money to you otherwise you will have to leave a bad review for the hotel. After a discussion, we agreed on a compromise to refund 1 night and reassured you that you have the right to leave a review following your stay with us whether good or bad. Once again, my sincere apologies for your disappointment after your recent stay with us and we very much hope that you could give The Darlington Hyde Park the opportunity in the future to restore your faith in the hotel and us. Kind regards, Dominika Gozdzik, Hotel Manager

I have been to this hotel several times and will do so in the future.

Location is ideal for not only for Paddington Station but just a short walk to bus stops that will take you to most of the main areas and attractions.

Bedrooms have every item you would need, bed linen is particularly of a high standard.

Breakfast room is bright and cheery; full English is you wish but the Continent Breakfast will see you to lunchtime.

The staff are there to help you and it is a tone of the hotel in that the same helpful staff are there each time I book.

I have been to London four times now and this is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it’s affordable and the standard is higher here than what I’ve experienced in London previously. The staff is super friendly, we got checked in by a very friendly man and the woman running the breakfast was always very happy and helpful. Our room was surprisingly big and the bathroom was narrow but still spacious and mostly felt newly renovated. There is a big fan in every room for free use. The hotel entrance is locked 24/7 and the reception is staffed 24/7 too. High safety standards! And not to mention - there is a lift!!! All in all we are super happy with this hotel.

If I have to complain about something it would be that there were some cleanliness remarks such as around knobs on the wardrobes and crevices on the shower. But all in all it felt clean. The continental breakfast wasn’t very exciting so I guess it would be better to book directly with the hotel in order to get the full English included in the price. I’m lactose intolerant and could only eat toast, croissant and fruit for breakfast, unfortunately. Other guests ate the full English and it seemed really nice. Maybe boiled eggs could be included in the continental to make it more fun?

The Darlington Hyde Park Hotel is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood just a few blocks from Paddington Station (Heathrow Express station). This made it easy to quickly get all over the city on the tube. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We especially enjoyed the full breakfast that came with booking directly on the hotel website. Would recommend this hotel and stay here again.
