Good points Nice Toiletries from Penhaligon’s. Breakfast - served in the room with linen napkin & silver cutlery, good selection plus a choice of 4 newspapers. Staff – helpful staff, but no bar or proper reception area, it is just a small office down a corridor on the 2nd floor. Bad points Avoid room 4. It is tiny, very narrow single bed along one wall, no bedside table. Bath in poor condition (patchy enamel, rusty plug) and is in the same room. No shower, the bath is next to the window which overlooks the terrace. If you enjoy bathing with an audience, then this is for you. I had to keep the blind down all the time I was there. No desk or workspace. TV is not ideally placed if you are watching in bed. No kettle or fridge but two bottles of water are provided. Breakfast – Day 1: it was 10 mins late, no milk or sugar. Day 2: I got milk & sugar but no newspaper. Lift – to get in, you press a buzzer at street level to be given access to the building via what I suspect used to be a service lift. You step directly into this lift from the street. No clear instructions on any of the lift doors. It broke down on the first day so guests were taken through back of house, to Searcy’s hospitality venue next door. When the lift was back in action (day 2) it took me several attempts to work out how to actually get out on the third floor. I would have liked the opportunity to speak to someone when I left, but the “reception” office was locked up. I had (unfortunately) paid on arrival.…
From the moment I arrived, the ladies in the reception were amazingly kind and helpful and welcoming. My room was perfect -- very comfortable bed, adorable view, open windows, updated private bathroom. Fantastic breakfast served - warm chocolate croissant was my choice. Mmmm. Definitely will be back!
You arrive at a blue door which opens straight into a lift - quirky is a good word to describe this hotel. The location is superb and the staff are very friendly and efficient. My single bed was extremely comfortable and probably one of the best that I have used. The room was very compact and clean. On the downside there was no real shower and my room looked over the roof terrace so I had to keep the blind drawn. But the price was extremely reasonable for that part of town. Would I stay again? Definitely.
My son and I stayed at this lovely, quirky hotel for a full week and loved it. It’s a small, shabby chic little inn with a tremendous amount of character. The staff was very warm and beyond accommodating. Breakfast is served in your room and the very well prepared. The location is perfect. The Knightsbridge Underground Station is 5 minutes away. Fabulous shopping and restaurants is all around. The staff arranged car and driver back to the airport and met every requested need. This hotel is perfect for people that want a small, personalized experience and love British character.
I attended an event here in the afternoon. What a beautiful place inside, love the old style rooms and Library where you can relax. The finger food was really lovely and they paired it with matching wines. Definitely, a nice area to have an event or wedding in.
