Being totally honest, we were invited back to stay at what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. The room itself was fresh and airy. The complimentary bottle of wine was acidic and cheap. The room service was a shock, a very rude gentleman named Felix, who was apparently the porter answered, took the order, no p's and q's... More

This hotel stacks up to the Autograph collection brand. We first checked in as Marriott Platinum members and we were offered an upgrade for 50 pounds. We mis-heard the offer and thought it was 15 pounds so we took the upgrade and found ourselves in suite on the 5th level. After discussion we checked with the front desk to confirm... More

The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The shower was a little small given the size of the room. Lighting in the bathroom was fairly good. Despite being on the 1st floor, the room was very quiet. The bed was slightly hard for my appetite but the pillows were disappointing. A very good hotel, worth a stay, in a... More

Nice, small hotel in Central London. It's about a 10 minute walk from my office, which is a huge boon for me. No tube ride. The rooms a well furnished and the staff is friendly and responsive. Room service is reasonable and offers good choices. Highly recommend.

Was in London for business for a week and stayed at Threadneedles. Excellent hotel. Very good service. Clean. Comfortable rooms...with chocolate treats! Enjoyed the breakfast--high quality food and good attentive service. Arranged a car to the airport for me without incident. The hotel is in The City, close to Liverpool station and a 10-15 minute walk to The Tower of... More

We stayed on a Saturday night, knowing we were we meeting friends in near-by Spitalfields. The City of London is very different during the weekend compared to the working week, and as such the hotel was quiet. Te staff were very attentive and the breakfast excellent. We loved the location, and the renovation of the old bank building in to... More

When we eventually arrived we stood in the reception area with our bags by the front desk and stood there for a good 5-10 mins, no sign of any staff. So we took a seat near by. When someone did emerge they looked at us and then just sat at their desk and carried on working, head down. So went... More

I had a number of business meetings in the City and was looking for a hotel within walking distance of my counterparts' offices. So, this is how I got to the Threadneedles. The hotel is situated a block away from the Bank conjunction within walking distance from the Saint Paul, LSE and offices of multiple finance institutions. It occupies the... More

Threadneedles is a good place for an informal business meeting in the heart of the City. The public areas are attractive and it's great to be able to hear yourself think. Service is efficient and prices are reasonable for central London.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
