First visit to London in a good many years and this hotel was chosen by our daughters as our Christmas present - they brought us down for the weekend and chose this hotel specifically for its location. Proximity to Tower Hill tube and London Bridge and the Tower of London was just great and suited our needs perfectly. Upon arrival,...

Have stayed in this hotel before and found it very good. On this occasion I stayed for 1 night and was allocated 106, a room in a wing on the 1st floor only accessible by lift! Very embarrassing when you a getting in a lift on the 1st floor just simply to go down to the ground floor. With respect...

We booked this hotel last minute and got a great deal... It's a brilliant location for the Tower of London, just 2 mins walk from Tower Hill tube and 5 mins from the Tower of London. If you can book a 10th floor room I would recommend asking for a city view. A real plus point for this hotel is...

Simple & quick check in,room was like a premier inn room, definitely not a 5*. Good location for tube & Tower of London but not a lot else. No complimentary water in the room. Won't be returning to this hotel!

Staff were all very polite and checking in took less than a minute or two. Building is in excellent location especially if travelling by/on underground. Nice area and a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Room was far larger than expected and nicely decorated, very classic if maybe a bit dated in a few small places, with everything...

Booked this hotel last minute and couldn't believe how great the location was, literally 10 steps from the tube next to the Tower of London. Checkin was a nice experience, especially when we were upgraded to an executive room. When I say room, it was the size of 2 or 3 rooms. We had a great nights sleep on a...

Had a great stay. Was upgraded too as was my husbands birthday and on arrival to our room there was a cake waiting. Very nice touch. Breakfast was excellent. Central location and next to tube station. Recommended highly.

Warm welcome from the check in desk who quickly steered us through the check in process. The room was well decorated, a good size with tasteful furniture and a lovely ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Sadly we did not have time to investigate the pool and leisure facilities which looked exceptional.

I booked two nights as a lastminute.com 'Top Secret Hotel' deal for £198, which seemed OK for the location. The bedroom was old fashioned, the furniture a bit tired and the bed was uncomfortable and dipped in the middle. The bathroom had a fixed shower head over a bath that was quite hard to climb into (would have been impossible...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
