Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We travel on January 2024, the hotel has a great location and the staff is very, very friendly. The room for three people was a little small but very clean. Good breakfast and they give you free tea, cookies and still/sparkilng water every day in the room.

Hotel is very dated, the name sounds posh but it’s really a budget b&b. We got to our double room and there was a 3rd fold up bed in there that took up most of the floor space. The manager apologised and said he’d get it moved for our return, but it was still there blocking the bathroom door and wardrobe. Room was cold and noisy from the outside, don’t think it was double glazed. Bathroom was minute with cheap nasty toiletries. And now to breakfast - oh boy, probably the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. They only have about 8 tables so there was a queue of 20 mins plus waiting for a table. No fresh brew coffee, just a kettle on a table with instant sachets. Cold boiled eggs and the cheapest nastiest packet slice bread, croissants etc and a horrid tub of porridge that had the price on - straight from the cash and carry. They couldn’t have offered a cheaper lower quality breakfast . Will definitely never stay here again

We had the quad room. One of beds was so lumpy we couldn't use it. The tv only worked one of the four nights of our stay. We did report the problem. The location was great and the staff was very friendly.

We liked the location of the hotel very much. The lady at the reception was nice. The food was top We had a family room. The beds in the room were only 1.20m wide, this was to small to fit two people.

We had an amazing stay at the Astors! The staff was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was impeccable! Location was convenient to walk to the Victoria Cross Station where we booked several tours. The best part was receiving a thank you card and Christmas stocking full of treats on our bed. I will definitely stay again!

Horrible stay at Astors Hotel. As a family of three we were given a tiny room on the top floor. With the beds layout were not even able to access the wardrobe. Shower didn’t work properly. The following day we were moved to a bigger room on the ground floor. Mattresses were so poor quality we couldn’t rest/sleep during our stay. The shower kept flooding after every use. Breakfast was so bad we only had on our first day. Honestly this hotel needs a major upgrade or lower fares in accordance with what is on offer

Reception rude on check in, no soap in room, bed too uncomfortable so slept on the floor, requested iron did not work, breakfast was terrible in a dirty room and had to wake the receptionist to check out.

Close to the coach station, short taxi rides for the shops. Booked Astors for a concert trip for myself and my elderly mother. Really impressed with the cleanliness and how comfortable Astors was. 100% we will use this B&B again.
