Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wonderful experience at Chateau Denmark! Every staff member we encountered, from the reception to the bar staff in Thirteen , the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you! Full of swank and style! Highly recommended. The location is excellent - close to all the trendy bars and restaurants in London’s Soho.

We really loved this quirky hotel. Very stylish and sexy decor. Great location, right in the heart of London and super convenient to Tottenham Court Station for getting in and out of the city. This was perfect for a short stay to brush up on the sights and meals we craved. We'll definitely stay here again!

Quirky, boutique style Hotel in a great location for shopping, theatres etc.. but our experience meant no sleep at all! Unfortunately our room (115, first floor) had a balcony/window which opened right onto an events/club (HERE at Outernet) which has day & night events so non stop continuous noise & queues right outside. Night events going on after 4am so be prepared for no sleep. Not just noisy from the music but from queues of screaming/shouting people right outside. We were assured on arrival that we wouldn't hear anything from our room and it was quiet but sadly this was the complete opposite. We did raise the issue after our first night and considered checking out but again we were reassured there wouldn't be noise as there wasn't an event on that evening. I suppose we shouldn't have trusted it but we did and yet again another sleepless night as there was a night event that hadn't been advertised! It was a rare birthday treat (escaping 2 children) which sadly left us both exhausted but mainly frustrated that staff weren't truthful or overly bothered with helping us. We also had cigarette smoke coming through our Bathroom Saturday morning apparently from a guest smoking in their room! I had to follow up on this issue as again no-one seemed too bothered about it. Im still waiting for a reply from the manager! Couple of other things to note the extra service charge is true - you'll be charged unbeknown from the deposit, no kettle/water/milk in rooms. but these are minor issues compared to getting no sleep which in my opinion is one of the main objectives of a good hotel....

Amazing service from beginning to end. Frederick, Oliver and George were amazing. From setting up the internet and music in the room to running my bath whilst we grabbed a bite to eat…they even gave me a late check out…and I don’t want to leave!! The first room had a broken plug in the bathtub so I lost the water……but they changed my rooms so I could have my bath (and ran it again!!) . They couldn’t have been more apologetic and gave me a free cocktail of my choice to say sorry…..can anyone really ask for anymore? The room was out of this world. From the lightning to the sound system and decor - never seen anything like it….AMAZING.

We stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas 2023. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very nice and very helpful. Anything that we needed, they were able to do. Your butler, prior to checking in will send you a text message, and anything that you need you can contact them via text message. They are very prompt in responding to the texts and are very attentive to anything that you need. They are also very kind, I mentioned to a person at the front desk that my wife really loved the bath and body products that they had in the hotel (they did smell great). That night when we got back to the hotel, they had given us two free bottles of some of the products. Just amazing. The location is right in the heart of the theatre district and a 10-minute walk to Trafalgar Square. The location is fantastic. The decor in the room was so eclectic and amazing. One of the most unique and fun hotel rooms that I have stayed at.

So this is a relatively new hotel in the heart of the beautiful West End of London. The Pros: - the location is perfect for the West End or an indulgent day of shopping and exploring - a new hotel, with a high quality finish (except for the areas below!!) - very comfortable, clean and spacious rooms - Cool design and attention to the design detail of the room - high quality beds - genuinely on a par with a 5 star establishment - the entrance, with a digital art installation is a wow moment and a tourist attraction in itself. - fantastic cocktail bar “Thirteen” right across the street from the main hotel entrance with warm and friendly staff So why only 2 stars…🙄 The Cons: - you’re welcomed by not so friendly reception staff. Quite pretentious team dressed in Steam Punk style fancy dress. - they require picture ID to prove identity - a bank card, email proving reservation and your name would normally be more than sufficient. Not even the Savoy, where I stayed last week, require photo ID - even when the room was prepaid (which was the case for me), the reception team welcome you by requesting your card details… not only for a pre-auth for any extras (normal), but to actually debit your account with £67 for a tip for the “butler”! They explain that this is refundable if you’re not content on checkout, but this is a deplorable abuse - Pay your team. I’ve been lucky enough to stay at some of the most salubrious hotels on the planet, and I’ve never experienced this. - the “butler” service was nothing but a concierge, to help with luggage as needed and show you to your room. Pleasant enough chap. I have no issue tipping for good service, but to debit your account by default is ridiculous. - Being shown to the room is needed, as the hotel operates on a split site, with rooms in the main building but also across the road on Denmark Street (as was my case) as a “Superior room”!! - no lift and 5 flights of stairs - not accessibility friendly - no bottled water (I know, 1st world problems, but while spending £500+ per night, you’d expect at least a bottle of water) - the shower head broke with the water pressure (reported to reception but not fixed) - the noise! OMG, there is a club pumping out 1990s garage until 3:15am in the morning. I literally got zero sleep, and ended up resting with my noise-cancelling headphones!! - noise insulation between the rooms is not good. My neighbour was having a “party” from 1:30- 2am. Not a problem because the noise of the club below was far louder and went on for much longer!! - building work - to add insult to injury, building works began at 8am which ended the little sleep I’d managed to grab. - when I reported the noise to reception in the morning, the response was, it’s my fault for not alerting them that night. Fair retort and I should have called reception at the time, but what measures they could take to ask the club to turn down their music?! To be honest, it was the condescending and uncaring tone to the response that really grated. In brief, my advice would be to spend your £500+ per night elsewhere. There are a number of other hotels in the West End where you can get the same good quality of fixtures, AND be welcomed warmly by staff and get a good nights sleep (which should be the top priority of any hotel)

Response from Emilie Russell, General Manager at Chateau Denmark

Hi Neilh103, thank you so much for coming to stay with us. We’re so pleased that you really enjoyed our cocktail Bar and the room amenities. We do pride ourselves on matching the good times with the right ingredients and while our team strive for nothing less than perfection, it appears that on this occasion we fell somewhat short. We understand the importance of a good night's sleep, and we apologise for any disruption caused by external factors and the response you received regarding the noise complaint. As our property provides a unique butler experience that encapsulates anything from checking the guest into a room, making a drink in the bedroom/apartment to general errant that a guest may require during their stay with us, we apply a 5% discretionary service charge on to our guests’ bills. However, this is discretionary and it shouldn’t feel mandatory or pressurised in any moment. We do hope that our paths will cross again, and on that occasion, you’ll be able to enjoy Chateau Denmark in the spirit in which it was created. Until then, Everyone at Chateau Denmark

There are plenty of positives about Chateau Denmark but it's far from perfect. It is stylish and finished to a high standard. This makes it stand out against so many formulaic hotel rooms. The big TV had a subwoofer and the bed was comfy. I like the butler concept but this is basically someone showing you to your room because the hotel is spread out over 16 different buildings. To get to my room I had to walk up 6 or 7 flights of stairs. There was no lift. There isn't a 'hotel' feel about Chateau Denmark. There is a check in desk and that's it. One thing that really irked me was the fact that there was no kettle in the room and no tea. I am British and tea runs through our veins. There was a Nespresso coffee machine but that's not really good enough. I also didn't appreciate the social pressure of being asked on arrival to pay a 5% Accommodation Service Charge. Of course I paid because I didn't want to look tight.

Hi manwhostaysinhotels, Thank you so much for coming to stay with us. We’re so pleased that you really enjoyed our room amenities and our butler team. We understand the importance of a good cup of tea, and we apologise that our facilities had not been demonstrated to you during your stay as we most certainly could have provided both a kettle and tea. Very stylish and clean rooms but no services you would expect from a good hotel in London. No lobby, bar or room service except sushi.. perhaps our fault for not looking into it more closely but it’s not for us. Style over substance is how we felt on leaving..

Plus side - very comfortable bed. Underfloor heating in toilet. Central location. Quite quirky Negatives - they take a £200 deposit on your card, not even a holding deposit, but take out of your bank. - a service charge is automatically taken out of this, unless you say you don't want to. I'm not sure what the service charge covers! When we said we did not want to pay this, the receptionist was quite abrupt. - lighting in the room was difficult to control. No kettle in the room, or milk. I have just found out it can take up to 10 days to get my £200 deposit back. Also it was described as a Luxury Apartment. You walked in the door and the that room contained a shower and a bar. There was a small separate toilet and a large bedroom. But not the lounge and bedroom as described.
