Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really surprising to find this club site in the middle of a residential area, it is wooded and very quite. The train station is only 10 minutes walk and the Greenwich only 20 minutes on the train.
Shower block is clean if not a little tired and a little less warm than other club sites, wardens are friendly and the nice touch of the showers not being cleaned till the afternoon, so your free to use them all morning.

We booked the site as I was running in the marathon that weekend. From booking in the staff were super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of the area. They found out the train times, lines ect. The local station is only a steady 5 min walk away so super convenient to travel into London.
The facilities were prestine, and I am very particular when it comes to the cleanliness of shower/ toilet facilities. Despite it being next to a built up area, it was very quite. Just watch out for the locals who have a fetish for shoes. I'm talking about the squirrels 😆.
We are already planning another trip!

Really enjoyed our first visit this week with grandkids. Scrupulously clean, well designed shower blocks, ideal location for visiting central London, mainline stations just 10 minutes walk and 20 minutes to central London. Well sized pitches, all electric hook up, plenty of space for our motor home. Can’t recommend highly enough, will definitely use again. Thank you, staff so helpful.

So much of this campsite is brilliant: clean, well presented site, good value, plenty of facilities we needed close to our tent, and a superb location near to Abbey Wood station. We initially appreciated the wildlife too: green woodpeckers hopping along the grass & parakeets overhead (noisy during the day, but quiet as the sun went down); and curious to see a fox along the edge of the campsite during daylight. Unfortunately, the foxes on site became a real pain - sniffing around the edges of our tent while we were sleeping; approaching us when we were cooking food (and not really responding to shooing); and the next day found that a fox had managed to get its head into our tent and take something outside while we were out. We'd been very careful not to leave food in the tent, but this one was clearly interested in everything we had and had no fear of humans.
The campsite is in a brilliant location, and very well placed for access into central London - for those with campervans and caravans, foxes will be much less of a problem and this will be a brilliant site for those not staying in a tent.

This site deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Even before considering the location, I would rate this site highly as a attractive semi-wooded camp site, all managed by a friendly team to the usual high CAMC standard. But it's the location that is the real draw of this place: close to the city, and easy to get in to the centre by bus, train, cycling, river boat...

Also, if you've got a large MH or caravan don't be concerned about access, it's really easy and just 10-15 mins from the A2

I cannot think of a single negative thing to report. I have already booked another stay!

I would like to congratulate the CAMC on their acquisition of the award winning site - Dornafield Touring site.

They have been able in a very short time to turn this site into a nightmare stay. The new site manager should ask for the money back on the customer service course he was on as it did not work, very arrogant to just about everyone who was staying at the site.Arrived to find major electrical work being carried our and had no power on day 1 from 09.30hrs to 16.00hrs. We were not told on arrival and no information from the CAMC before arrival. Sadly the Caravan club are now just a very large company focused on generating revenue and zero interest in their members. I’m sure Dornafield will have already lost many long standing customers

We have been staying at Abbey Wood on a fairly regular basis since 2011 .
There has been a lack of investment in the facilities blocks i.e. showers etc in recent years. Compared to 2011 they have declined considerably. This is a great shame as it is a superb location for London visiting.
Also, on another note, be aware that you will be unable to leave the site before 8am , so early starts eg for onward travelling , catching ferries etc will mean relocating to the outside late arrivals location. This should be made VERY clear to all arrivals. It is currently not made clear and some of us only find out when planning to leave early. Whilst appreciating that this prohibits early morning departure disturbances, it needs to be made clear ON ARRIVAL. Crystal Palace site is the best option if you want to leave early for onward travel etc.

Follow the instructions and this site is easy to find, although watch out for the speedbumps on the residential streets. A 10 minute walk along Crumpsall Street takes you to the station where you can either take the Elizabeth Line or the overground train. The latter is a more scenic journey. The staff are excellent as are the facilities. A large Sainsbury is right next to the station if you need anything on your return. The best thing is that you can be in Central London in 30 minutes from leaving the site.

This was only our second time glamping and we think it is a winner. Our pod (Woodpecker) was large enough for the two of us, with a well appointed kitchenette and full bathroom. There was plenty of hot water, a heater and the bed linen was crisp and white. The site is quite large, but has excellent facilities and security.

There was also the added entertainment of watching a large flock of free paramo!

We will be back!

Large groups of local teenagers and adults staying there why invite there local mates to party. Ended up fighting with each other, swearing and throwing things about. Not a nice place unfortunately. I've stayed at several of theses sites, and this is by far the worse.

Yes there are a few takeaways within 10 mins drive, [Chinese & Indian]. We had a brilliant Indian delivered to the gate from Taj Mahal - they are only 5 mins walk from the caravan site & you can dine at the restaurant. Also on the same road is The Abbey pub which does excellent pizzas
