The reception always seemed to be be staffed, and they were happy and friendly.
Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss. Requests for housekeeping were ignored a couple of times during our stay.
Our key cards continuously deactivated even though we kept them separate but reception always fixed immediately.
Inside the hotel and our room was continually overheated and the window could only be opened a few inches - and there were sirens all through the night.
During my stay, I was disturbed repeatedly throughout the night. At just after midnight, I was woken by a commotion outside my room. Three members of staff were exiting the room across from mine, apologizing for the noise. However, an hour later, they returned and loudly demanded the guest in room 205 leave. This disturbance continued, and despite asking them twice to lower their volume, I was ignored.
It appeared that the guest may not have paid for their stay, which raises serious concerns about how the hotel manages check-ins and verifies bookings. Adding to this, earlier that day, another guest in front of me at reception had an issue where someone else had already checked in under their name. This suggests a systemic issue with booking and identity verification that requires urgent attention.
As if the disturbances caused by staff and unruly guests weren’t enough, I was woken again at 3 a.m. by the deafening noise of roadworks outside the hotel. No warnings were provided at check-in, and there were no notes, signage, or even earplugs in the room to mitigate this disruption.
Additionally, my colleague, who was due to stay at the hotel on the same trip, had her confirmed reservation mishandled and was forced to move to another hotel late at night—a completely unacceptable mistake.
Despite raising all these concerns via email, including asking for some form of compensation for the poor experience, I received no response from the management. The lack of acknowledgement shows a complete disregard for guest satisfaction and loyalty.
I used to appreciate the convenience of this location, but after this experience, I’ll seriously reconsider booking here again. I recommend others do the same until the management addresses these operational and customer service failures.
The Shower also leaked, and whenever I used it the whole bathroom floor was soaked.
The pillows were lumpy and old, the sheet was very thin and there were no extra amenities eg. hairdryer or safe.
The TV didn't work and wouldn't turn on, and it was even little things like the fact you couldnt pull toilet roll off of the holder because it was the wrong size and got stuck.
Even factors such as entering the hotel were poor, the automatic door was broken and took about 20 seconds to even open, and my key card continuously meant I was locked out and had to be restarted.
The room also wasn't too clean and there were hairs and things all over the floor, and it was dusty.
The breakfast was sub par and I was promised vegetarian meat options, which weren't there at all.
Overall, I went expecting the bare minimum (just a place to rest, sleep and get ready after my days out for business purposes) but I unfortunately wasn't given even that. I don't expect high standards from a Travelodge but this was awful. The only redeeming factor was that the staff were lovely - this was clearly not their fault but rather the hotel's actual management through the chain and the funding it is provided to fix things / provide the correct amenities. For the amount I was paying (about £130 a night) I expected at least the basics to be in place. I often visit Travelodges, as do my colleagues and associates, and I'll be telling them about my experience and think again before staying at one.
In 5 days I asked for at least a change of tablecloths and a cleaning of the bathroom, or to empty the rubbish bins, or to provide hand soap, but despite writing down the room number and reporting several times, no one provided a solution.
The only positive note was the silence and the position in relation to the place we were interested in visiting.

Wifi although paid for as an extra was limited to a Max of 2 Devices. This was not mentioned in the detail of the Booking. Something to watch out for if you have a Family of more than 2 persons.
Plus points were the excellent unlimited Buffet Breakfast, but no Pancakes were available, despite being on the Breakfast Menu. Overall we were happy with our stay but perhaps attention to detail needs to be improved!
Room was very warm, could not open window due to traffic noise.
Paid for late checkout but still got locked out of room at 12:30, had to get that sorted.
