I was very disappointed in this hotel. The rooms are ok, but there is NO air conditioning which I know is common in the UK but I thought they could have done a better job of helping guests when the temperature reached 104 degrees. One small window that opened and a ceiling fan that wasn't much help at all were my only choices. Each morning when I left I begged the front desk not to allow housekeeping to enter my room and each day I returned to find my room an unbearable oven since they did enter the room and closed the one window I left open to make the room more bearable. I can't describe how horrible it was. Also, I think this hotel is dangerous. I know there have been deaths there due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The hallways are a maze of doors that if I had to find a way out in a hurry it would not have been possible. Also, they have NO ice in this hotel and you have to walk down the street to buy a small bag at a grocery store and absolutely no way to keep it from melting. The front desk clerks are nice but not knowledgeable or competent in my opinion. They were supposed to have a restaurant but they didn't. Even after checking in I was told I could order breakfast if i didn't want to pay for continental. But the restaurant had closed weeks ago. When I said I was willing to pay for the continental the waitress refused to let me. I had to go back to the front desk and ask for permission to pay. On the plus side, this is a nonsmoking hotel and they had a very nice (not clean but ok) garden area where you can sit down and smoke. Can't really think of any other good things about this hotel. But I lived through it and I know the heat is not usually a problem but they really could have improvised some help when they knew the forecast was for the hottest days on record. The lobby has air conditioning.…
Hands down this is the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I travel a lot. The staff are rude, the rooms are awful, the bathrooms drip water all night and if you are lucky you get to have their “luxury suite” which is located in the basement and on top of the tube line. I asked to move rooms the minute we got into ours because of the trains thundering beneath the bed. I was told that this is London and what do I expect! I advised the receptionist that I have visited London many times and I am fully aware of the transport system but said maybe they should state the level of noise if you book a “luxury” room. They eventually moved us to a different room which was just a standard room. I asked if we could have a bit of a refund because of the cost difference. I was told no by the rude receptionist because they had to clean the room again because we had used it! We’d only sat on the (creaky) bed for 5 minutes to look online to find a different hotel! I can guarantee that that room wasn’t cleaned again, I don’t think it had been cleaned before we stepped foot inside it. The hotel is far from luxury and is very tatty. The beds creak, the furniture is falling apart, the rooms are tiny and boiling and the creaky floorboards everywhere in this maze of a hotel makes for a fun night trying to sleep with people in and out and doors slamming. It’s just awful, don’t bother and go elsewhere. I dread to think what would happen if there was a fire at this hotel as it is just a maze of small rooms and tiny narrow corridors. I’m glad I’ll be checking out early this morning.…
We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The room was tiny and furnished with very dark furniture. We were in the basement and could hear doors slamming from very early in the morning. We could also hear people talking in the room next door. The bed touched two of the walls. The bed creaked loudly every time one of us turned over. Our window opened onto the terrace which meant we could smell the smoke from people smoking outside. We could also hear the tubes, but, I guess this to be expected given the location. When we booked we asked for gluten free bread. I was told “we don’t offer gluten free bread, you can go to sainsburys and buy some”. I called and left seven messages for the manager to call me. I did not receive a call. We should have cancelled there and then. There was no bottled water in our room so we bought some locally. We asked if we could have some ice when we returned to the hotel and were told “we don’t provide ice”. The breakfast rooms are very cramped when the hotel is busy. We left our suitcases with reception when we checked out. When we returned we asked for our cases and were invited to help ourselves. The chap on reception had never seen us before and we could have been anyone taking the cases. On the plus side, the room was clean. The continental breakfast was ok. Not fab, but ok. We were very disappointed with this hotel. …
Really great hotel and superb staff on hand to help in every way. Personally i was staying in a apartment that was great and full of amenities that i needed when working in London. Pretty much home from home. A personal thank you goes to all the staff for making me so welcome well done..…
You might like this hotel prices and location but this is a trap. I stayed in this hotel twice and both times were bad and I documented it with pictures and video. My first stay the gave me a room in the basement with a view of walking pedestrians feet and the sound of cars tires and the entrance door was the place where they keep their garbage bags.... but that wasn't the real problem... the real problem was the entrance was full of mice! So I complained to the hotel about this and they moved me to another room. In my second stay, they gave me a room on the 2nd floor without an elevator and I had to carry my suitcases alone though the narrow staircase without any offer to help me with it. and it's important to mention that the is room in a building around the block about half a km (about 1000 feet) from the hotel lobby. While I was sleeping in the tiny bedroom exhausted from the two floors staircase I woke up from dripping water! the ceiling light was dripping water on me! I since the room doesn't have a phone to call the front desk I had to walk to the down the street to the front desk to tell them to check it out and water with electricity doesn't mix! so I had to wait for about 3 hours then they asked me to go back room to find nothing changed then I called them from my mobile phone so I don't have to walk to them again under the rain. after an hour a maintenance guy who smelled like he had a lot to drink looked at it then told me that they can't fix it. a few hours after several calls later they told me to gather my important stuff and check-in another hotel to spend that night in it. the next day they asked me to move to another room in a different building and again it's in the basement. After all that and on my checkout day I asked to extend my checkout for an hour and they said you have to pay £10 for an extra hour. I told them I had to move from 3 different rooms during my stay with you and you ask me for £10?! the rude hotel receptionist said "if you are not happy with this write a bad review about it, but this is the hotel policy" So this is the review you asked for.…
