The building is pleasant, with a fine selection of framed playbills on the staircase walls. My single en suite room was comfortable enough, but single-glazed and subject to noise from Gower Street traffic through the night. The bathroom was rather cramped, but the worst feature was that it was impossible to set the shower to a comfortable temperature. It was...

After reading the reviews on here I was very nervous about staying at Arran House Hotel. Stayed here for 2 night with my Mum in a twin room (no en-suite). When we arrived the man on the desk was very friendly and helpful giving us lots of information and also took our luggage up to our room for us. The...

This hotel has mice. Mice! One visited our room in the night, chewed its way through a rucksack pocket to get at some food we had forgotten about and scurried about the floor. The en suite bathroom is tiny, with a very impractical shelf above the tiny sink so that it's almost impossible to clean your teeth with out banging your...

Cheap but not cheerful, clean bed but that's all that was good about this hotel. En suite rooms was a joke, a cupboard with a caravan portar loo and shower in it but no light and the smell of sewage coming up through the sink. How this has three and a half stars from trip advisor is a mystery.

Oh my goodness. Although the staff were friendly and helpful and the room very cheap with a free breakfast, please check the photos below. We managed to laugh ourselves to sleep after the disbelief of what we experienced. Very shoddy With a mouse bait box next to the double bed - not ideal. Very deceiving as the hotel looks lovely...

I was in a tiny basement room that was accessed via the kitchen. The place was just a tatty house masquerading as a hotel. It was awful value for money, so just don't bother unless it is a last resort.

First the good stuff: the reception staff was unfailingly welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was hearty if not elegant, the bed was good, the water was hot, and the location close to Goodge Street and Russell Square tube stations plus shopping and eating options on Tottenham Court Road was good, wifi worked well, sometimes. However, the room was cramped, the...

I was awoken at 1am by a loud squeaking, scratching and scrabbling. The unmistakeable sound of mice. Couldn't sleep after that. I informed the concierge in the morning; I suspect I wasn't the first person to have mentioned it.

Having read some atrocious reviews for this place I really think we might have been staying somewhere else! Whilstsome aspects of the accommodation were a bit basic, our room was more than adequate and clean in every sense and every place - definitely no bugs or mice as other reviewers had said! The en suite bathroom looked newly refurbished with...

Convenient location is probably the only conceivable positive. I get that you can only expect so much for your money in central London, but honestly this place is genuinely a health hazard. Our room was conspicuously dirty; the carpet was grimy and faded, and there were cigarette butts piling up on the windowsills. Don't look too closely at the walls...
