Came here with friends for a cinema experience, can say that the staff were unhelpful and cannot believe how much blame they pushed onto the company who set it up. We were given plastic chairs and told they the hotel was told about it late. We told them we wanted more comfortable chairs. The manager got some from reception which...

Went on a deal and almost everything worked pretty well Food was good and ok prices if you avoid the rip off steaks. Service excellent and they gave us our room at around 10 which was nice and helpful. Deal included continental breakfast which is always good. Location is a £6 uber from Covent Garden and £17 to excel centre...

Stayed here on business and was rather underwhelmed with the experience, especially since my employer was paying almost £250 for a one night B&B stay. Check in on arrival was fine. The decor isn't to everyone's taste (first time I've seen a hotel check-in area painted black!) but the process itself was efficient enough. The room was a typical chain...

Lovely hotel, but service slow. Don't expect efficiency here. Did enjoy stay otherwise. Brasserie A la Carte menu overpriced. Had a discounted £50 voucher for restaurant which we presented on arrival, but staff did not initially add to our bill, so we would have been overcharged. Was rectified only after we noticed the error and brought to staff attention. Dine...

We booked a January dinner bed and breakfast package and added a bottle of champagne to the deal. Welcome from reception was friendly. The champagne which I requested on arrival took 40 minutes to arrive, which somewhat spoiled the moment. Took 15 minutes to be served a cocktail in the bar. Food in the restaurant was excellent, and although the...

I stayed here with some work colleagues while on business. Upon arrival I was eventually greeted at reception, as there was no-one present when I arrived. I eventually got checked in, as the receptionist was having some issues understanding the English language. I got to my room which was quite small with views of a slated roof. The amenities were...

Malmaison has been on my list of to-do's as their rooms always look super stylish on-line. This one was no different, unusual mix of styles but very "cool". Not the largest of rooms but comfortable and everything was there. Good selection of snacks and drinks. Good silent closing doors. Love the look of the outside of the building, it looks...

Stayed at the property with three other friends and we were all bowled over by the quality of service provided by the reception staff and the Brasserie crew. The hotel enjoys a good location close to Barbican station and the staff were courteous, efficient and went out of their way to provide a 'Wow' experience for us.

I was so excited about staying here as I booked this for my husbands Christmas...but.... Some good points, close to tubes and restaurants/shops. Check in - good, was offered a room at the front or back, considering the whole area out front is a building site we plumped for one at the back which turned out OK, quite peaceful. Unfortunately...

Having heard that there was noise from works I requested a quiet room via email as I was there with my daughter. This was responded to quickly and when I arrived the room was very quiet. I was able to check in early as the room was ready and the staff were all lovely. The room was great and perfectly...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
