Travellers' Choice
The Clarendon Hotel overlooks historic Blackheath. This area of London is very special with Greenwich Park, the River Thames and many fine attractions to visit. Situated in Blackheath Village with its many special shops, cafes and bars to enjoy, the Clarendon offers a village atmosphere close to the O2 Arena (10 mins), Central London and Excel in Docklands. All rooms are en-suite with facilities such as the Meridian Restaurant, Nautical Chart Bar. Parking - the hotel has a front and rear car park, however these do get filled. For alternative parking, there is street parking or the Blackheath Village train station car park, which has CCTV. With Blackheath in front of the hotel, we are of course dog friendly.

Tired tiny twin bedroom. Small single beds with only a small unit dividing the two as being the only space between the beds. Bathroom had no ventilation (no extractor fan / or was not working). Needs a renovation ASAP. Carpets stained and odd smell in the room. Paid £140 for the one night as the groom of a wedding party and both myself and the best man had an awful night's sleep. A person with their dog stayed in the room next door to us and with the heavy door closers in the building, the dog was distressed and barking at each noise in the early hours (2am). The location and the friendliness of the staff are the only two positives about this hotel. Deeply regret staying here and recommending it to others in my family beforehand who some also had negative reviews for various

Fine room, great location, grand company. My best mate's wedding. Very salubrious! The staff were attentive without being all over us, there was a fine bar, and the Wedding Reception backed out onto the garden. All good!

Not the most modern of hotels but good value for money. Very pleasant staff. Comfortable bed, good size double room, great breakfast. Cant book a carpark space but carpark quite large and we had no problem. Apparently a lot of available parking nearby. Overlooks large common and park nearby.

The hotel is quite dated & old-fashioned but it’s in a great position. Reception staff were very friendly & welcoming. My room was quite small & compact but it had a great view over the green. The corridor leading to my room was dirty and in need of a clean. Cleanliness of my actual room was fine. Breakfast was good.

Booked through ‘Offpeak Luxury’ but certainly nothing luxurious in the hotel. Staff were lovely and it seemed clean but hotel and room VERY tired. Appreciate it is an old building and we were in a Classic Double Room (which is obviously the basic room?) but we had an old metal window that you couldn’t even shut, some very dubious stains in the carpet and wall and the bathroom was very small and dingy. Even worse was the sound proofing! I could tell you word for word what the people next door had been doing! The second day there was rubbish left outside a room opposite and more round the corner - maybe from the room but it looked a mess. Stair carpets were threadbare in places. Had meal the first night which was lovely and the breakfast both days was fine. Used Chart Bar one

Dear zoy4 Thank you for taking time to leave your feedback. I apologise that your stay was not to your expectations. I must admit we were carrying renovations prior to the pandemic which unfortunately had to be stopped and things have not been back to normal yet so we can restart them again. However, this is no excuse and thank you for raising the other issues in your review. I have spoken to our housekeeping department and the staffs in the bar as these cannot be tolerated. Once again , please accept our sincere apologies.
