Dorset Square Hotel is a beautiful Regency townhouse with 38 individually designed bedrooms many of which look onto the leafy private garden square which was originally the site of Thomas Lord's first cricket ground. An interesting collection of cricket memorabilia can be seen displayed throughout the hotel. There is a sumptuous ground floor guest drawing room with a fireplace and The Potting Shed bar & restaurant which is open all day long. The hotel's interior has been designed by owner and design director Kit Kemp in her fresh modern English style.

This is a superb place. Beautiful modern sparkling interiors, spotless, amazing service, wonderful bedding and bathrooms, lovely view and great location. 3-4 mins walk from Marylebone station and less than 5 mins from Baker Street. Even though the rooms are small, so they are so thoughtfully organized and curated that you don’t even notice it, especially with the gorgeous large French windows. This is a gem.

Firstly I got upgraded to a luxury King room and breakfast was included in the price. It’s not cheap but when I stay at a Firmdale property I always leave feeling like a million dollars. I could have paid £100 less and left feeling meh.
The room was perhaps not very big for a luxury king room but was very nice with the usual Kit Kemp signature touches.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly.
And breakfast was a joy, one of the best I’ve had in ages!

My husband and I had our wedding reception and breakfast in the Dorset Square Hotel (for 30 people in the Potting Shed) in the middle of September. We also stayed in the hotel for the event, along with several of our friends and family. The entire experience with Luca and the hotel team was first class and the journey from booking the event to the event itself was a joy because of them. Luca treated us like valued guests from the start, over email and during visits for tastings and menu choices. He is so warm and personable. The service from him and from everyone in the hotel was first rate. The rooms in the hotel are stylish and comfortable. The wedding breakfast menu was amazing and every morsel delicious. All our guests commented on the high quality of the house champagne, canapes and every dish which was served. We were so well looked after, from the minute we arrived to checkout two days later. The team took care of everything - pre-ceremony drinks, reception, the wedding breakfast and they allowed us to have the Potting Shed for the whole afternoon and evening. Everything which was delivered to the hotel on the morning of the wedding, flowers, cake etc were smoothly and efficiently looked after. This meant that we didn't have to worry about anything. There were lovely touches in our bridal suite too (champagne and gifts). We have no hesitation in recommending this charming, hidden gem of a hotel and restaurant - you will have a wonderful experience. Thank you, Luca and team.

We absolutely loved this hotel. My husband and I stayed for a couple of days on the way into Europe and gain on the way out. The location is great. Marylebone is my favorite area in London: so many great restaurants and shops and doesn't feel as touristy as a lot of the hotel areas in London. The particular square the hotel is on, Dorset Square, is very charming. The hotel is an older townhome which was restore and is maintained impeccably which is no easy feat with an old structure. Both rooms that we had, one on the fourth floor, the other the second, were beautifully decorated and had nice views of the square. The room on the first visit was quite small but very well laid out. It worked great for a couple of days, but would have been tight for longer. For the second visit we had a larger room which was fantastic. When we returned, we felt like we were "coming home". We had breakfast every morning in the restaurant, The Potting Shed. We loved it. It had both great service and food. An ideal way to start your morning. We had late afternoon tea and drinks as well. Lastly, the staff was amazing. I wanted to buy a few Kit Kemp items, and they went out of their way to be helpful. They were great with all our reservations and provided advice on lunch spots. Andres and Luca and all of the staff were amazing! We have been to many hotels in London, including other lovely Firmdale hotels, but this is our favorite!

Very expensive for average room, no water or kettle with tea/ coffee.
When I asked for a kettle it came with sugar and mugs but still no tea or coffee.
At 10.50pm both nights some sort of bottle bin was emptied very loudly outside my window. No form of view outside, just a dirty courtyard with the hotel/ restaurant bins.

Beautiful boutique hotel with comfortable room and pleasant service. Great to see the link with cricket and lords being upheld.
Downsides were the lack of tea making facilities in the room, very uncomfortable pillows on the bed and for the high cost of a room I do think breakfast should be included. Breakfast OK but overpriced. However, it is a good place to stay. Very clean and the rooms are functional.

I've been staying in Firmdale hotels since over 20 years, including this one, but unfortunately, this time, my stay has been of the poorest quality and the highest price. I'm moving on after this experience.
On the positive side, the location is very good, the hotel is nicely decorated and the rooms are well appointed.
On the negative side, the rooms and bathrooms are very small, our $700+ per night room had massive ducting blocking the window. This is unacceptable at this price. A well decorated lousy room is still a lousy room.
Also, the hotel seems to suffer from lack of staff (including in the restaurant) and some of the staff is inexperienced. Perhaps this is an issue with many London hotels.
Finally, I remember the restaurant food of being better in the past than my recent experience. Perhaps this is also related to the staffing issue.

Dear Zebdiane, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your stay at the Dorset Square Hotel. I am sorry to hear the disappointment about your room. Our manager on duty showed you few options but sadly none were up to your expectation. If you wish to return, you’re welcome to book via me at lucaperletti@firmdale.com and it would be a pleasure to personally take care of your reservation, Best wishes, Luca

We found the staff very warm and helpful.
The hotel room was decorated to a very high standard and generally experience a tranquil setting. With subtle gifts left on your bed.
We had the vegetarian breakfast which was absolutely delicious.
In the afternoon we enjoyed a cafetiere in the hotel lounge which we recommend.

My wife and I recently held our wedding reception at Dorset Square Hotel and The Potting Shed Restaurant and Bar. It was a really lovely and intimate event. The setting of the restaurant is very homely and unique, and the hotel and drawing room was great for photos. All our guests really enjoyed the venue and the quality of the food. We're still getting compliments about the canapés and the custom welcome drinks!

In addition to great service, we would highly recommend the hotel and Potting Shed as a reception venue due to its close vicinity to Old Marylebone Town Hall. Marylebone and Baker St station are also within walking distance.

We can't thank Luca (the General Manager), Giulia and the staff enough. Luca was very friendly, enthusiastic and easy to deal with. He made it easy for us to plan our event providing honest, open advice about what was possible and his experienced recommendations. He was generous in allowing us to customise things like the menu, drinks and restaurant space to how we wanted and within our budget. We also really appreciated his willingness to take impromptu calls and meetings to discuss any concerns or questions we had. Giulia and the staff were also warm, helpful and accommodating to our needs which really eased our minds, and enabled us all to relax and take in the occasion. We all felt well attended to and looked after.

We will definitely be returning in the future and many of our guests said the same : )
