We had a morning flight out of London City Airport, and struggled to find an appropriate hotel nearby. Connaught Hotel was a great choice. Comfortable pub in the ground floor with a friendly staff. Rooms were upstairs. While they were a bit small and dated, they were very clean. Convenient location, clean room, friendly team, good food = a great stay.
We stayed at the Connaught House Hotel in February 2020 for our second stay at the Hotel. We parked at the hotel for our overnight stay which was conveniently included in the low price of a room. Our stay was comfortable and the rooms were a little dated but clean. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. There are a couple of things to note - This a three star hotel next to an airport and DLR line so during the day is not quiet and you will not be getting a lay in as the planes start at around 8 am and are VERY loud. Also, there is a mountain of stairs to climb to reach the rooms which will not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. If you are using the hotel as a base to go out and explore as we did it's an absolute gem and we would certainly use it again.
I stayed here for a one night business trip. On arrival the staff were very friendly and showed me to my room (carried my case upstairs as I was on the top floor). I felt that nothing was too much trouble for them and all done with a smile. The room was small but was very clean and comfortable. Travelling as a lone female I was made to feel at ease and I ate dinner and breakfast by myself in the bar downstairs, which was very relaxed and the food of good quality. I would recommend this hotel due to its close proximity to the ExCel. Thank you to the staff, their friendly and personable approach made my stay a pleasurable one.
My wife and I had an enjoyable dinner at the Connaught House Hotel. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a West Ham game on the TVs but I was pleased that the commentary was not blaring out so that diners who wanted to chat were not disturbed.
For business people visiting the Excel this is a very good location. This presumably explains the very high price of the room for the accommodation provided. The room I stayed in was functional and clean, but soulless. It was filled with cheap furniture and wasn't comfortable or restful. It was a convenient place to spend a couple of nights whilst at a trade show, but I did not want to spend more time than necessary there and I certainly would not return on anything other than an essential business visit.
