Purpose built to a contemporary aesthetic, The Whitechapel stands on the original grounds of a textile manufacturing company once owned by five brothers. Inspired by our site’s industrial past, we have also referenced specific iconic elements, which are woven into the fabric of the hotel design. Every room has been carefully designed and coordinated to offer an alternate take on the unique Whitechapel themes of retro London Telephone Box red, pristine linen white, deep ebony and natural oak wood.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friendly staff on arrival. Apartments are down side street. Not the most welcoming of areas and at 23:00 at night a bit rough around the edges. The apartment itself was really nice, out of character with the rest of the street. Decent amount of space and the apartment I had had a really good shower. Would stay again for work as a useful location, not sure if I’d use it for personal use. Again, staff on check out were really helpful.

We stayed in an apartment within the hotel. It was great value for money with loads of space and modern decor. The hotel is situated about 10 mins walk from brick lane and 20 mins from spittlefields. It’s not a very nice area but perfectly safe and a great location for accessing the east end attractions. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend.

I just stayed 02 nights at this hotel. Staffs were friendly and cordial. Location is good. You can walk to the White chapel and Aldgate East tube stations...You can go anywhere from these stations by tube...there are number of restaurants and convenience stores nearby... they also have a restaurant at the ground floor. Value for money...

Needing a place to stay for the last two nights of my grand tour, I finally decided on this hotel. The single room's photos on booking dot com had a semi spacious room with a chair in which to watch t.v.. I was given the not so spacious single room, were the washbasin was in the room at the end of the bed. It was comfortable though and if I kept my luggage tidy, it felt less cramped. I asked if my room was quiet and I was assured that this was the case. Unfortunately I was next to the door for the stairs and above the back door of the hotel's restaurant. Staff members had their breaks out in the alley and I was kept awake till three. The location will improve with the steady gentrification of the area, but it felt a little unsafe as a single woman. And I only saw one female staff member in my two nights, apart from the cleaning team.

I’ve stayed in the apartments twice now. The apartments are not in the hotel but down the side street, two apartments to each entrance. First was 220 top floor, spacious, clean and looks like the pictures, only criticism is very little draw space if staying a week and no plug near mirror. 2nd apartment 216, 1st floor, good space smaller then top apartment but bedroom bigger. Settee was stained and dirty, only one mirror in bathroom, no where to do hair etc, chips in tile floor in kitchen. Not soundproof so can hear person walking and banging around upstairs so kept awake for first few days. Small entrance hall so be careful if you have a large suitcase. It is cleaned everyday, mattress fine and bedding was clean. 5 min walk from both Whitechapel and Aldgate station. There are nicer hotels for less per night but ok if you want a little more space and are spending a few days.Tesco metro around the corner for provisions. Top tip- ask for top floor less noise but there are no lifts.

We booked a premier room and it was the smallest hotel room we'd ever stayed in. I literally had to shuffle along the wall to get to the bed. The wash basin was in the main bedroom area, a bit inconvenient. That said, it was very clean and very quiet. The area around is a little rough but everywhere we needed was walking distance. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but there are lots of cafes on Whitechapel Road. 'Grounded' was the best we found. One thing to beware of is the texts sent by the manager asking how our stay was going...it wasn't until I had my mobile bill that I found I had been charged for replying to them as the number was not a UK one.

Hotel room way smaller than we thought. Bathroom sink is in the middle of the room as there was no place in the bathroom, tv hanging half on the wall, staff not very friendly (just the bare minimum). We had paid for breakfast and no one informed us that the kitchen was being controlled and therefore breakfast was cancelled. And when I connected to the hotel WIFI, my email got hacked immediately and got a warning from my provider.

but close. The rooms are small, the wardrobe is big enough for one person's clothes at a push, but there's no other storage. The fridge- situated very conveniently on the floor (never heard of built-in) hummed loudly all night, and the light was annoying. The bed wasn't what you'd call comfortable, but it was, at least, clean. The breakfast was inedible, and came complete with a ten minute wait for the coffee. (there was no tea available). Didn't bother risking an evening meal, obviously, but if we had, we'd have found there is no bar. It soon became aparent that this is a Halal and Sharia compliant establishment. The staff were decent enough, but a lady trying to make a complaint about the dreadful food and the vomit in the lift got nothing for her trouble but a Basil Faulty style argument. Still, it was funny. In future I'll pay double and head a few miles west- it'll be worth it.

10 mins Walk from Aldgate East tube stop. Check in was quick. Had the single room 1.8 on the first floor. Size was fine for one Person. Toilet was good size. Had tea/ coffee facilities. Bed comfortable. Booked without breakfast Issues: clearing of bottles At the Back of Hotel at 11pm. Light comes through bottom of door and noise from next room from conversations
