Excellent location, ample free parking and a lovely clean sunny room with the usual comfy Hypnos bed.
This property benefits from a lift so no carrying cases upstairs with the added bonus of all rooms have walk-in showers just up my wife’s street.
The staff at this property go that extra mile and all seem to genuinely care for the needs of their guests from check in to check out nothing is too much trouble and always a friendly hello when passing reception
The main attraction is the breakfast, a purpose built breakfast room so no trailing outside in the cold to a Brewers Fayre buffet this is an all you can eat cooked fresh to order breakfast.
A big shout out to Denise the chef and Cath the server you both helped make our stay that bit special and is one of the reasons why we like to return to this Premier Inn.

Pretty standard premier inn perhaps slightly on the older side and the family room was smaller than other and only had a shower (no bath). The room was absolutely boiling but to be fair the hotel does state clearly when booking it doesn't have air con so we knew what to expect but worth being aware of. Big fan in room did help a little but with 4 people in the room it was stuffy. The breakfast was fantastic and it's served in the hotel and not the Toby next door. Credit to the staff at breakfast who were lovely and cooked everything perfectly. Especially in this current heatwave they certainly deserve praise. Marked as 4 and not 5 just because because room was a bit smaller and didn't have a bath which previous ones have done. A few bits and pieces in the room needed attention too like flickering light in the bathroom. A bit of tlc and it could be as good as the newer ones.

Having read some previous reviews I am not quite sure they stayed at the same place we just have. First of all the brilliant "northern welcome" the reception team could not do enough for you, very difficult during summer with rooms that have no air con but its not the staff at fault for this. They were all so lovely and handled issues well.

But my ultimate 5* review goes to breakfast! Although we couldn't just help ourselves due to covid the team still made sure the 'all you can eat' option was very much available for us. From the cooked breakfast of chef Maggie to the excellent service from Cath and Tracy, they are a credit to your workforce.

Thank you to the cleaning team also who made sure our room was clean and our towels replenished you just have to ask as again due to covid the rooms dont get cleaned daily but if you ask they will.

The family rooms are on the small side but the lovely staff working here more than made up for that so thank you. We will most definitely come again.

Me and the wife were going to do 2 days intense Christmas shopping in the town so thought we'd book the premier inn to save travelling home. Also known that Toby carvery is just outside made the decision even easier as we like the carvery. On arrival we were given our key only to find it didn't work so down the steps and back up 4 time because they couldn't get the key to work. When entering the room there was a nasty smell which I found was damp. The upholstery on the chairs were covered in staines, damp on the roof, wall cracking with plaster falling off and the shower room was filthy. We did book for the advertised bath only to find it was only a shower. I asked at reception for a clean room with a bath and I was told that none of the rooms have baths and this is fake advertisement to bring people in and there was no free rooms. We booked breakfast for 09.15 and when we arrived there was no table available so had to leave with no breakfast. When we arrived the staff from toby carvery were in the reception telling everyone that they aren't serving food all weekend!!!!!!!!!
We always stayed at premier inn but this one should be closed in my opinion it's a health hazard.

Staff very helpful able to respond to changes required ie suppling more coffee sachets, milk etc
Location Noise situated on a main busy road next to a busy Carvery with people arguing just near by. Children playing football in the car park until late in the evening where one could here the noises from the hotel room.
Location 20m from town centre plenty of buses near by
Safety poor during my stay at 1 am somebody bang strongly at the door room 2 times in 5m between each occasion which made me very fearful and nervous. Had to telephone reception and thankfully I was given a safer room on the first floor.

Staff friendly, breakfast as expected. Room too hot and stuffy, stale air. Family room on the ground floor with no air con as I knew when booking however the room thermostat was at 23 degrees and too warm to sleep and could not adjust. I could sense the stale air being a sleep apnea sufferer and having to use my CPAP. No reason for the room being that hot as the external temp was significantly lower.

Both my wife and I had a poor night and having raised it with premier inn only to be told that the good sleep guarantee they widely promote is useless. It has so many caveats that they wriggle out of what they heavily promote is a refund.... we could not open the window being on the ground floor with the children being the sleeping near the window.

Lost all brand confidence! Not so Premier.

I know that England were in their first final since 1966, but we arrived 20 minutes before kick-off and the guy on reception was watching the build up - when we arrived, he huffed and puffed and threw the room key at us and wouldn't answer any of our questions. Clearly, he wanted to watch the build up rather than do his job and welcome guests who had just driven for 8 hours to get there.

Then, for breakfast on the last day - the poached eggs were....well watery if the best way to describe them. Only milk alternative is Soya, so no almond or oat milk. Unable to order just porridge and add own milk, as only instant porridge is used which is formulated to 'just add water', not milk. Some workmen sat next to us had similar issues with incorrect order being served. There were only 4 tables, so not like it was super busy!

Main thing was the lack of welcome on arrival. Not expecting banners etc, but was made to feel like we were in the way. The guy might as well have just said "clear off I want to watch the football and I don't give a monkey's about any questions or requirements". Not up to the Premier Inn level of service I've come to expect.

We have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years and it is always of a consistently high standard. The staff are very welcoming and can't do enough to help you. This stay was under covid restrictions /rules, which were strictly adhered to. Great to see the Premier breakfast being served, which was delicious. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we will be back at the beginning of July for our next visit

I've never stayed at a Premier Inn where the staff aren't 100% committed to customer service and this was no exception. I'd contacted them prior to arrival to say that we would be arriving late as we had a six hour journey and they reassured me all was fine and gave us a lovely warm welcome when we arrived. The hotel is directly opposite James Cook hospital where my husband was having treatment and the location of the hotel meant I could pop back and forth to the hospital and also work remotely on my laptop in the hotel room. The Toby Carvery next door was really handy for a slap up breakfast and classic Carvery.

Although there is a Toby in the grounds. Breakfast is severed in there own area within the Premier Inn, although web site doesn’t confirm this. I was sat well less than a meter from the position of where food is being prepared, and in the main area where all people walk into the seated area.

Family room, small to say the least. 3 out of our party of 4 had to climb over the beds to get out of them as there’s not enough room to stand between the beds when in place. (See image)

You will need to check. This specific Premier Inn is a rebranded former Holiday Inn and so the room layouts whilst clearly Premier Inn decor/brand are what they inherited. Ours had a shower and an ingenious arrangement for to separate the toilet from the rest of the shower room. Hope this assists.
