I stay in hotels a lot for work and the holiday inn express in Middlesbrough is definitely the best!! Vicky is amazing nothing is too much hassle and she is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. The rooms are always spotless and the food is always delicious. The toolbox and card in my room when I checked in was really appreciated

Alastair and Vicki are the two most helpful and pleasant staff we have experienced at a hotel. We work away a lot and usually don't get treated like this. Highly recommend this friendly hotel. From the boys at Tarmac

Our stay was fine. The staff were really very lovely and helpful, very friendly and easy to chat to. The room was clean and shower was powerful. Not enough pillows but a member of staff kindly brought us another one each. Location is good. The main bonus is that the rooms were very dark and there was no noise from outside. The curtains keep out all light to the extent that when we woke up late mid-morning after our first night we both thought it was the middle of the night as it was so quiet and dark. Because the room was so dark and there was no noise from outside, we both got a great night's sleep every night. Issues- the layout is very odd. To get to our room we had to get a lift up to one floor, walk along a long corridor and then get another lift down to another floor, then walk along another corridor. It got a bit annoying after a couple of days. Breakfast was a small selection and served quite early. Noises from corridors/neighbouring rooms very easily heard. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either and if you're looking for a town centre option it'll do just fine.

Hi Fadedbackpackthanks for taking the time to leave us such a great review! We really love receiving feedback as it gives us a chance to work on any issues we have so thank you! The team will be thrilled to hear your lovely comments and I can't wait to tell them. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and found the hotel to be so quiet and that you had a brill sleep! I do appreciate the layout of the hotel is quirky but glad to hear once you eventually made it to your room it was worth the wait! We really hope to welcome you back soon, and if you contact us directly - we will be sure to allocate you room nearer the lifts :-)

Stayed for a night just as a little getaway and change of scenery for girlfirends birthday weekend. Mentioned this when booking and asked for top floor room, in quiet area of hotel. Arrived at Hotel & was given a great top floor room with a nice view and was very quiet. Also had a lovely surprise as they left a bottle of wine, card and choccys for girlfriend too. Great touch by the staff who were great throughout. Clean room, comfortable, well stocked. Nice breakfast although you have to get in early to beat the rush, Excellent stay, will definitely return. Could of done with extra pillows and couldnt work out how to turn the heating below 18c but minor gripes.
