We had a lovely stay here while we were singing weekend services in the cathedral. Gated parking for the car was good. Clive was a gracious host in his beautiful regency home. The bedroom was large with a very comfy bed. Extra bonuses were fresh milk, coffee, fruit, and sherry in the room. The breakfasts were wonderful. Good choice, beautifully cooked, and freshly squeezed orange juice. We also enjoyed the company of resident cat.
This is the second time I have had the pleasure of staying at Gothic House. The atmospheric, elegant house is beautifully maintained by Clive who is very welcoming. Although the bathrooms are not en-suite they are dedicated to each room so you don't share with other guests and there are fluffy robes provided. Breakfast was by far the best of all the places we stayed in Suffolk and Norfolk. Gothic House is situated a few minutes walk from the centre of historic Norwich and there is parking.
Stopped in this lovely B and B for two nights. It is a lovely quirky building that has been wonderfully decorated. The location is ideal, close to the centre but also in a quiet area. The property sits behind a pub and has off street parking. Clive the owner is a very interesting person with many interesting stories to tell. The breakfast is lovely and tasty and good quality ingredients are used. We will be back
Clive takes great pride in making his beautiful home as welcoming as possible. Bathrooms are not en suite but are specific to each bedroom and he provides dressing gowns. Beds are comfortable (so are chairs - I fell asleep in one). The full English breakfasts set me up for each day’s walking around Norwich and Clive had lots of advice and books to help. I’ve already booked to go back.
We travel less to sight see and more to experience places and people away from home. Our trip to Norwich (too modestly calling itself “A Fine City”) was highlighted by our stay at Gothic House, brimming with warm hospitality and individual flair: the interior, the breakfasts prepared with care from an extensive menu , and most of all the host’s élan. He meets every measure of the perfect proprietor, making guests’ happiness his most generous priority. Rooms are LARGE, comfortable, and beautifully appointed as is the entire house. Rarely is a single B&B worth a detour but the experience of Gothic House is worth a special trip to Norwich (and it’s a “Damn Fine City,” too!).
