This hotel has a lot going for it. Nice setting/ pleasant rooms/ good food but sadly the staff let it down big time. Mainly young girls who need more training and management. Don’t work as a team. In the restaurant tables are ignored for long periods. Only 6/7 tables occupied and three staff but seemed to have no clue. They were not alert to clearing plates and people’s needs. Breakfast was much better with slightly more mature staff. Reception staff hastily stop texting and hide their mobiles as you come down the stairs. The first night the bar girl pretty much ignored us for some time. When checking out the lady ahead of us had extras on her bill that she had not had and we also experienced the same problem We left feeling very disappointed with our stay. Then to top it all a week later we realised (when our credit card bill came) that they had charged for the room twice. Once two days before we arrived - that was fine. But they charged us again the day we left but this was not on our check out bill and we did not authorise this second room payment .We have now received a refund for the second payment. When my husband suggested that this second payment had not been authorised by him the member of staff flippantly said ‘well it’s all sorted now’ We will not be staying here again.…
Spent one evening on bed breakfast and evening meal. Reception and rstaurant/bar staff very welcomng. Room described as cosy but pleasantly surprised as much larger than expected and had been refurbished in recent years. Bed extremely comfirtable and bathroom fine. Dinner also ecceptable in lovely dining room overlooking gardens. Breaksfast huge, fresh and exceptional. Price for DBB very sensible. Would recommend.
We received a nice friendly welcome from Charlie and two ladies at reception. Our room (10) was lovely, an open four poster bed with a walk-in shower, but there was nowhere to put our toiletries. We had nice views of the lawn and hills in the distance. It was nice to see the sheep, newly born lambs and some hares and rabbits in the nearby fields. We enjoyed some drinks in the bar and in the lounge, the Pheasant Plucker ran out before the glass could be filled. They had no replacement so I had to have Hen Harrier. My wife enjoyed Blueberry G&T’s. Our evening meal was good, nothing to write home about. There was a limited choices on the menu, just four of starters, mains and desserts. A couple more mains choices would be better. I ordered drinks and a starter of Goats Cheese Tart. The Tart arrived within 4 minutes and the drinks about 5 minutes later. My wife’s main of Lamb Koftas tasted okay, The pita bread had been over cooked and was dry. After complaining, It was quickly replaced with a freshly prepared one. My mains, Sea Bass Fillets (2) and a scallop in batter with egg noodles would have been outstanding if only it had been served on a hot plate. The noodles soon went cool. The broth and in particular the scallop in batter was delicious, I could have eaten four of the scallops. Our Desserts were Caramel & Chocolate Tart, I was very pleased with it, but the Baked Alaska was a disaster, the ice cream had melted! We had a good nights sleep in our Kingsize bed but slept near the middle because it was only fitted with a double duvet ! Surely they must have Kingsize Duvets! Breakfast was very good, I couldn’t fault it, plenty of additional choices besides ‘a full English’. All staff were friendly and helpful. The Falcon Manor is a lovely hotel which has some incredibly nice features. If your wanting a place to chill out away from the hustle and bustle then I can highly recommend it. The grounds are lovely and I can see in warmer days how nice it would be to sit outside with a drink, relaxing, chatting or reading a book. I’ll leave the choice to you! On checking out we were asked about our stay, so mentioned only about the food. The manager without hesitation reduced our final bill to take account of our evening meal issues......... and Yes, I would stay here again, but only bed and breakfast. This was out first stay here, we have stayed on several occasions at one of their sister hotels, The Royal Hotel in Kirkby Lonsdale. Both are quite different regarding locations and things to see and do.…
Excellent food and helpful friendly staff. I felt however that the hotel Wi-Fi asked too many personal questions before registering and allowing me to log in. Our bed was a good size and very comfortable. The location and parking were also excellent for our planned visits around the area.
We had a wonderful stay at Falcon Manor. The staff were very attentive. We couldn't fault the evening meal. Breakfast was excellent with a full range of fruit/cereal/croissants and a menu to order hot food from. We would recommend staying here to anyone.
If this review was just for the restaurant experience, it would be two stars at best, but the fact that the room was OK means a three star review is more accurate. But for now I would avoid the restaurant here. There were three menus in the info folder in the room, one had no prices and the other two had set prices for two or three courses. None of these were relevant though. The actual menu available at our stay only had a choice of four main courses. There wasn’t a single vegan option and the only vegetarian option was spinach and ricotta ravioli. Like one of the menus in the room, this menu had no prices which I’m fairly sure is illegal. I asked the restaurant manager for the prices and she said she would get them but she never did. We actually asked about a bar menu but there apparently wasn’t one. We mentioned that the website had a much more varied, bar type menu only to be told we must have been looking at the lunch menu. We were not; the menu was headed “A la carte”, no reference whatsoever to “lunch”. The restaurant manager clearly had little interest in improving the customer experience. We asked for a variation to the sea bass option but still didn’t get what we asked for. The pork and black pudding bonbons were very good though. Dessert was so-so, as was breakfast. We heard many other diners complaining about choice and speed of service. The room was OK, but some TV channels weren’t available and the shower was a simple rain shower. At checkout we went through our issues and were invited back at their expense to prove they’ve improved things. We will not be taking them up on this offer. It’s sad writing a review like this as we stayed there a few years back and enjoyed the whole experience including a bar meal. It seems like it’s still trading on past glories.…
Lovely hotel, great staff. Room was ok but Room 6 is over the back courtyard and we were woken at 7.30-7.45 by the Recycling lorry! OMG… what an awakening… horrific noise of the bottles etc being tipped into the lorry🤬 Duvet didn’t fit the bed! Double on a king size bed isn’t good…A boiler or similar that started and run all night… We did not have a good nights sleep🤬Food in restaurant was ok, limited menu
Stayed for one night staying in room 11 DBB deal with my husband. Absolutely gorgeous building & in keeping with all the other James places, lovely decor, real fires & lots of candles. Our room was compact but very comfortable over looking the court yard. The bed was very comfy & we had the best night sleep. Our 3 course meal was included & the ham hock was delicious, both our mains were mediocre lamb kofta & Chinese chicken skewer but it didn't spoil our stay. The breakfast was outstanding 👌 the best we have had in a hotel 👏👏 fresh fruit salad, meat & cheese, warm croissants & pain and chocolate followed by full breakfast & poached egg on toast. My husband said his full English was the best. My poached eggs were perfect. Staff are really helpful & very happy. We will be back.
What a beautiful hotel and in walking distance to Settle too. The check in was easy and we were shown to our room. The room was beautiful and spotless. We walked into settle which is full of cute shops and lovely pubs. Later we returned to Falcon manor as the 3 course was included in the price . The food was amazing and the service too. One staff member stood out she made us feel so welcome like we were regulars and nothing was too much trouble I think her name was Kaylee . Can’t wait to go back, the breakfast was one of the best we have had .
We were married here in December 221 and I have not hi g but positive things to say about our stay. We stayed for 2 nights and our meal the evening before the wedding and the wedding breakfast itself were amazing. Food was hot and extremely tasty. The staff were extremely accommodating during our stay and although there were staff shortages due to covid we wouldn't have known at all as everything ran extremely smoothly. A special mention for Gareth and Charlie who were extremely attentive during our stay - nothing was too much. The wonderful venue and attentive staff made our wedding perfect, we can't thank Falcon Manor enough!
