the best thing about it is the location, stunning view of the north sea which is just across the road. Room was o.k. but had obvious patch up areas on wall which looked ugly, and my friends room had odd stain marks on ceiling. Communal carpet on stairs had a few holes. Breakfast room is lovely with white, fresh décor...

We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay as much as we would have liked you to have. We're also sorry that you didn't feel you could speak to us directly. When you left the guesthouse, Zed asked if everything was good with your stay and you replied that it was. There will always be areas to improve in our...

From arrival to departure the whole experience was excellent. Great location on the sea front with excellent sea views as you would expect - including the harbour entrance. Lots of choice at breakfast and comfy homely room. Would recommend staying here and would certainly book again next time we visit Whitby or surrounding area.

I stayed here for a night while on a wee trip around England. Wonderfully polite hosts, efficient service and great location. I would come back to Whitby just to stay here again. Definitely recommended.

We recently took my parents (in their seventies) to Whitby, staying at the Riviera. They couldn't have been happier with their room, their bed, the breakfasts, the owners - success all 'round. The location, just up from the Whale Bone Arch, is excellent for walking into town. NOTE: the staircases ARE steep, if that's an issue for anyone.

The couple that run the Riviera are so lovely they treat you like family, once you have been it spoils you from staying else where. We have stayed with Emma and Zed three times now, consistently the same friendly welcome and service, nice clean bedroom with spectacular views, a good variety of breakfasts to choose from. Fabulous accommodation. Spacious, modern and most importantly clean rooms. View is to die for! Staff are really friendly, it's like 'home from home' but with a touch of pampering! Oh and breakfast in the morning is fabulous and there's more choice than any other guesthouse we've been to. We will definitely be returning.

The Riviera is in a great location. There is on street parking where you can buy a ticket for £1 for the day which is great. The lax atmosphere is fine. I however like to be greeted on entering a holiday establishment. The owner was very friendly. A little over friendly for me. I like a degree of professionalism and...
