Perched on a cliff-top, with magnificent views of the North Yorkshire coast, Whitby Holiday park is set amidst peaceful footpaths, golden beaches and beautiful countryside, with the charms of Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay nearby. National Trust owned Saltwick Bay and the Cleveland Way Coastal Path are both accessible direct from the park, making it the perfect retreat for walkers and nature lovers. Whitby is a short walk from the park with its' historic Abbey, Tall Ships, Regatta and annual Goth Weekend. Picturesque Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes are all just a short drive away, with beautiful beaches and a geology rich in fossils. The village of Goathland, made famous by the Heartbeat series, is also a short drive away through the stunning landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors. Nearby, at Grosmont, a ride can be enjoyed on the nostalgic steam train line to Pickering, one of the most scenic preserved lines in Britain.

Whitby Holiday Park receives accolades for its inviting atmosphere and picturesque setting near Saltwick Beach and Whitby Abbey, with guests often praising the clean and comfortable accommodations. While the hotel staff is generally regarded as friendly and helpful, some visitors have experienced inconsistencies in service, particularly noting the limited hours of the bar and bistro. Cleanliness is a standout feature, especially the well-maintained toilet and shower facilities. However, the park's value for money is a point of contention among travelers, with some finding the pricing to be high considering the amenities offered.

Chose this site specifically for it's location. The caravan was smart, clean and had everything you could want on a self catering break, plus a sea view. We wanted to spend time in Whitby and an easy 15 minute walk along the coastal path brings you to the top of the 199 steps by the abbey that leads into the town. The path has been covered in stones so it's not likely to become muddy, torch is useful if walking back after dark. The park pretty much has it's own private beach off the coastal path best explored at low tide as you can explore Black nab rocks, walk to a ship wreck and spot the entrances to the alum mines, it's also worth looking out for fossils. There was an on site bar which was open a couple of the evenings we were there, again very quiet also a cafe which we never used as we went off site during the day and it was closed in the evening. The only negative would be no where to get a bite to eat in the evening without going into Whitby where there are loads of eateries to choose from. Loved the park, loved the town.

Visited this site Friday - Sunday at a cost of £76 which is about average for a site like this, plenty of space between pitches excellent location nice 20 min walk into Whitby along the cliff top, gorgeous little beach about a 10 min walk down the steps . Kids park is one of the best we’v come across decent shop never visited the pub so can’t comment. Would I come back yes without a doubt . My only gripe was due to COVID all toilets & showers where closed this is the only site we’ve visited this year which has closed toilets and showers.

Good points
We stopped on the touring site and the views are amazing, we were lucky enough to be pitched right on the last row next to the cliffs.
Shower and toilet facilities clean. Had to book a slot for laundry ( wet bed from child) but that wasn’t a problem as no one was booked in so the lady gave me 2 slots.
Staff very friendly apart from one which let the rest down.
Cafe and shop on site.

Bad points

Gallon bar is expensive and no atmosphere at all. We stayed when it was the England quarter final. On arrival we had left our face masks and told we couldn’t enter, my partner and my step son are both exempt so I filled all the covid forms out for each of us and said to my partner you go and save the table and I’ll go with the others and get our masks.
When I got back with my two other children the gentleman was so rude and said I needed to fill a covid form out. I explained my partner had given them to him and that he had just spoke to me and knew I had gone to get masks. He was looking at me gone out like he had not just seen me. I told him our names and he had the lady checking through the pile of forms like I was making it up.
When I finally got passed him with my 2 children to go and find my partner and step son my partner wasn’t very happy at all. He said that the man had said even if he and my step son are exempt he still can’t come in without a mask! my partner argued this and he said “ well where’s your medical evidence?” Which my partner explained that he does not need to explain anything. The lady who was working said my partner was right and he finally let him in. Maybe he needs to have a look up of the equality act 2010 and stop discriminating people. My partner and stepson have enough difficulties without coming against ignorant people like that.
The man was awful to most customers, you could hear everyone on the tables discussing how rude he was. There was no atmosphere for the game, one lady taking orders, bringing the drinks and collecting glasses and that man behind the bar pouring the drinks. Everyone was sat waiting for drinks for ages to the point people started ordering a few at a time. I can’t understand why you wouldn’t have more staff on. Drinks were really expensive. There was also people that had gone and got seats and were waiting for their wife’s/partners to come in and they were not allowed to come in, even though they had seats and were not exceeding the rule of six. I can not believe that no effort was made for the game at all.

The bar and that man are the only things that let this place down. I would stay here again but avoid the bar!

We had high expectations for this site given the amount we had paid for our pitch. We had a hardstanding serviced pitch close to reception. In reality it's a tarmac area that looks like the arrivals car park. Toilet blocks are basically public toilets as the site is on a public footpath and gets used as much by walkers as by paying site users. There are no locks on the outside doors and no evidence of cleaning. Some of the worst we've seen.

Whitby is such a lovely place and if we return we will certainly not be using this site.

Everyone had to use their onboard toilet/shower facilities due to the coronavirus. However the club, shop etc were not open but they still charged the full price. The grass pitches were very muddy, waste water and toilet emptying area was a long way away from our pitch. The disabled toilet door when locked from the inside could be opened from the outside. I was having a shower in there and a young woman came in and used the toilet fully aware that I was there. No hooks for clothes and no mirror in the disabled toilet/shower. Overall we were not impressed and will not be returning. A real shame as we have had good times in the past on this site. My car and caravan was covered in mud and sand/hardcore that had turned into mulch where they had filled in the pot holes on the road. Tarmac should have been used instead of the cheaper option.

This site is completely oversold and overpriced.
The steep clifftop pitches have great views over the sea but the they’re all grass and poor land drainage, resulting in boggy conditions after rain, but don’t worry the tractor will pull you out if you get stuck. the tracks around are full of potholes .
As for the Jet Bar and Bistro, forget it because even though they display a sign of restricted opening times you can’t rely on them.
They seem to open and shut when they want and it’s this attitude that makes you feel used.
For £50 per night it’s a ripoff.

Lovely location over looking the coast and only a short walk to Whitby centre.

Has a bar and a nice kids play area and the site is operated by friendly staff.

It's one of the very few places that has sufficient, clean toilet facilities for tourers and actually keeps the facilities open while they're being cleaned. This is great as most places close them for several hours, which if you have a disease such as Crohns or Colitis is not a nice experience.

We've been twice and will continue coming back - keep up the great work!

Substandard Caravans, no customer service.

We booked to stay at Whitby Holiday Park on Monday 4th October 2021 and when we arrived to check in at 4pm we were horrified. Paid for a ‘Platinum’ caravan 2 bed £440.00 for 4 nights. The caravan was extremely tired and dated, it smelt stale, all the floors were vinyl and our feet were sticking to the floors while looking round. The shower room/wc facilities were horrible as were the bedrooms and we could not stay in it. Caravan HS2.
Reception staff did try to help and showed us another Platinum which was slightly improved but still could not stay in it, very substandard, caravan AV52.
On top of this the site facilities were shabby and old not to mention the Galleon Bar was closed so what were we getting for our money? We took the decision to leave and checked into a hotel for the night. (More expense).
We were advised to contact Phillip Key by email if we wanted to try for a refund which we did and received NO customer service, Phillip’s responses to my messages had a hostile tone and he made no effort to offer any kind of compromise, just that we had made the decision to leave even though we had been offered alternative accommodation. I did challenge him to stay in HS2 overnight and let me know his thoughts then. I would have slept in the car rather than these supposedly Platinum caravans.
We feel very aggrieved, we lost out on our holiday, very out of pocket, not to mention taking time off from work. Extremely disappointed.
Had Phillip Key empathised and tried to offer a solution my review may have been different, but he did not! I believe if an issue is resolved then all is well.
We have been going around various sites this year to possibly buy a static caravan or be a returning guest however Whitby Holiday Park is now off our list of possibles!
Avoid staying in HS2 or AV52, seriously poor substandard accommodation.

We had an amazing time. Caravan was spotless and comfortable. The park itself is in a great location, we enjoyed the coastal walk into whitby which only took about 20 min. Saltwick bay is amazing and very beautiful. Staff on site were very friendly and being a dog owner our Viszla had a great time. Will definitely be back.. x

Although I accept Covid has limited the hospitality sector on what it can offer, but feel the company that runs the club has missed a trick. People with children are limited as to where they can take children in Whitby. Unfortunately the onsite club now also has nothing to offer them either other than a playground We visited this evening the beginning of weekend half term. Gary the Steward is welcoming and professional but was limited to what he could offer his customers. No tonic to go with the good selection of gin, no prosecco and no ice (that alienates most females) There's no wonder the place is empty. Wake up and fill the gap that exists for parents ans grandparents to have a family evening out with their children/grand children and give the bar staff a much better drinks selection

we normally say two dogs however if you call the park direct and let us know how big your dogs (small Jack Russell's normally fine for three depending on what your booking). hope this helps :)
