Arundel House is a beautiful Georgian manor house boasting private off street parking and also a fully licensed bar. It has recently been taken over by the Booth family who are currently in the process of renovating and modernising the property. The majority of the rooms have views of the Abbey and Pannet Park.It is ideally located for Whitby town centre which is only a 5 minute walk away. Our comfortable rooms, each of which is dedicated to a prominent character from local history, are all en-suite and have television and hospitality trays. For that special occasion we have the superior Sutcliffe room and we also have twin and single rooms. We offer an excellent choice of breakfast including vegetarian option, famous locally smoked kippers, or to set you up for the day our hearty English breakfast.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved our first stay in Whitby here. Greeted friendly be Rachael and we got a free parking spot. The room was perfect and we had an extra large bed. The view of the Abbey and park were brilliant. Breakfast was hot tasty and served very efficiently. If we come back to Whitby we will definitely be coming back to Arundel House.

We’ve stayed at Arundel House Whitby a few times now and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Whitby. The hotel is perfectly situated on Bagdale with great links into Whitby, overlooking Pannett Park with onsite parking. Although limited spaces, we’ve never not gotten a space whether it be in season or out having stayed at various times throughout the year. Usually we would stay in Stoker Room but this time opted for Cholmley Room which is now our new favourite having already booked again for next year. Scott and Rachel run the place but this is clearly Scott’s baby. We absolutely love Scott, he’s a great character and fantastic host. He also does a wonderful full English breakfast too, served at 8:30am each morning. Looking forward to staying again!

I had a great few days at Arundel House, enjoyed it immensely. The room I had was small, but that’s not a criticism as I was on my own. The housekeeping staff do a great job cleaning and tidying the rooms and making beds every day. The en-suite was perfect. Breakfasts were cooked to perfection and served by polite, friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back there in a couple of weeks.

Absolutely cannot recommend Arundel House enough! After a nightmare start to our holiday and us ending up with no accommodation for us and our 9 month old Pup! Scott came to our rescue and couldn’t of helped us anymore than he did, even giving us the space to let our pup off the lead to play with his dog while we calmed down! The staff were all so helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us! The room was absolutely spotless, smelt amazing and was a brilliant size! Everything we needed and even a view of the Abbey though our window. Great location and parking too! We will return again and recommend Arundel House to everyone. We honestly can’t thanks Scott & team enough 🖤🖤🖤

I have stayed at the Arundel 2 years ago. Terrific experience . However this time I was not so impressed. We had a wonderful welcome by Scott. But I was disappointed that we had to pre-order our breakfast ( we didn’t have to do that on my previous visit) I chose a double room at the rear of the hotel as I do like quiet. For the price the room it was very tired and desperately needed decorating. Also the dressing table had a concealed mirror which I was only told about the second morning of our visit. The bathroom was very impressive and had been modernised. The cleaning staff although friendly didn’t seem too keen to clean the room. Breakfast was lovely but I felt a bit rushed as as soon as we had finished our fruit plate it was quickly taken and the same after the main. I do feel the rooms need refurbishing as my friends Room was tired too. All in all a reasonable experience but sorry Scott until the rooms are updated and a few minor details addressed I would not return. Denise Blanchard

We booked to stay here after seeing all the lovely photos on the web site and reading lovely reviews, well arriving late afternoon and struggling for a long time to fine somewhere to park, we were greeted by a very young school boy and his friend, who booked us in, ( where were the host?), after showing us to our attic room i thought he had made a mistake, no nice tiled bathroom like in the photos, instead a bathroom with vinyl paper which had definitely outrun it's time, no towel rail, no shelf, no hooks, not even room on the sink to put a toothbrush, (just were are we supposed to put our towels when we shower?) To say it was dated is being kind, The room itself no bedside lamps, only one lamp which was very badly stained and you had to get out of bed to turn off, laying in bed we had a lovely view of the chimney pots and if we were really lucky we even got to see a seagull sat on them. Although have to say the bed and pillows were very comfy, breakfast we were served by yet again a very young school girl, WHERE WERE THE HOSTS???? as we didn't see them at all in our two night stay, so not surprising we will definitely not be going back.

Not happy to submit 1 review but now in pairs. We thank you for your review and allowing us to explain in a few short words our experience of your stay. Rude to guests and staff, drunk, hungover so much so breakfast was returned uneaten as you stated you were to hung over to eat and wanted a free stay which booking.com did not refund. I’ll let people read between your lies…….oh I mean read between the lines. I will gladly open the doors to anyone wishing to see this room, also your host was cooking your breakfast and who you told on departure everything was great, also your other host being my wife was the lady you spoke to in the bar to say how everything was lovely. Oh and the Seagull was free

Our room that we booked unknown to us had been changed on our arrival when I spoke with the owner they said our room wasn’t guaranteed when booking via Booking.com! This is complete nonsense! Front of house run by a teenage girl who was lacking customer service skills! We were given no WiFi ( advertised ) no bar was open ( advertised ) there was a large party booked in who we’re loud and disruptive! We were placed in a replacement room which was on the main road with a busy roundabout! Plus above the main door to the b&b we were woke up serval times with the large party coming in at 4am! Limited parking! We did try to resolve any issues with the owner but was told we had the right room ( untrue ) all other matters ignored!

Suitable for a weekend break but wouldn’t stay longer! Well situated for town and although a bit dated, room was clean with comfortable bed. Breakfast was adequate but average for taste. Biggest problem was parking, although four places at front these seemed to be occupied by the staff/owners, street parking near is very limited

The Team are extremely helpful, will do anything they can for you. The hotel is in a great location for the town, it does have parking (although if full not so sure if there would be enough). The hotel is beautifully decorated spotlessly clean, and the beds are fantastically comfortable, The breakfasts are of great quality food and worth having, can not fault this place. Highly recommend.
