We booked here for a night away and we were instantly impressed with how nice the room was. Plenty of room, comfortable bed and great extras (biscuits, sweets etc). The bath was also fab, claw foot bath that was lovely to relax in after all the walking. Would 100% stay again.
Great room and very clean. We stayed in room #1, with access down the alley way. Warm, cosy and a good sized bath. No shower was disappointing but managed with the hand held and the bath. Quiet and good nights sleep had. Great location.
We stayed at Sanders Yard, room 2. Clean room and super location right in centre of Whitby. These are the clear positives. Sadly the bed was terrible , really hard and frankly completely uncomfortable . This definitely affected our sleep. I’ve noticed other reviews saying exactly the same and wonder why the management don’t care enough to respond to feedback that is widely available. The cooking smells coming through the windows were vile . No shower which we found inconvenient . Tea making facilities but no cups or mugs provided . Room wasn’t cleaned in the 3 days we were there which was poor given we in the middle of serious pandemic! No mirror In bedroom other than the sole one in bathroom and lacking a wardrobe to hang clothes. Susceptible to noise from neighbouring holiday apartments . Decor tired and needs lick of emulsion . Don’t think the owners try hard enough, probably because the location is so appealing . Not value for money and certainly won’t be staying there again.…
We're a regular visitor to Whitby and we stayed in the Bed minus Breakfast for a weekend break. Overall it felt like a 'make do approach'. We stayed in room 2 which was a good size but felt a bit dated. The stud walls were very thin and can be noisy, we heard the neighbouring room stirring their cup of tea! Thankfully there wasn't any major party goers and the other customers settled in around midnight. The bed was one of the worst beds I've ever slept on. I can cope with different levels of firmness as a B&B can't cater to everyone's preferences but it was just very poor quality and didn't make for a good night's sleep. The bedding was clean. The room was very clean but had stale cooking smells presumably there's a kitchen or vent nearby. Regarding the bathroom again very good size and very clean. Downside was old rough towels, a travel hairdryer that cuts out after a few minutes and a flushing sound every 5 minutes which wasn't the loo or the tap so no idea what that was. The vinyl flooring is coming a bit loose under the bath. No shower attachment is a pain and a plastic blue jug for rinsing hair is a bit of an uninspired 'make do' solution. The location was fab but it's not good value for this room particularly without breakfast included. I'd choose stay a short walk out of the centre better value for money on our next visit. If you do choose to stay here bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Parking isn't on site but that's not unusual for the town and you can park about a 5 minute walk away - check parking restrictions though as parking enforcement is very active!! …
