Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had lunch with a friend here as it had been recommended by several friends and family members. We were not disappointed! One of the most interesting and varied lunch menus I have seen for ages I had the pulled pork nachos which were divine and a good sized portion. I was tempted by the Moroccan platter and also the rare bit, so will have to return. We also noticed as we left there is a fab selection of GF cakes, which is good to know for future visits. Very reasonably priced, especially given the location on the cobbles. Food and drinks came quickly even though it was fairly busy. Staff were lovely too : )

We arrived at 2pm on Friday. Perfect location in the heart of Whitby we parked across the bridge next to the Co op as there was limited spaces on Church Street. Parking was £9.00per day. The location of Sandlers Yard could not have been better just off Church street in the heart of Whitby. A short walk from 99 steps and cafes and restaurants. Our room was on the first floor (3). The Room was a good size with plenty of tea and coffee provision. The hallway to the room needed some attention as very damp smell, however, we were not in the room much so it didn’t bother us. Highly recommend this B&B for a short break.

Really lovely, cosy rooms with everything you need for a short stay in beautiful Whitby. Location couldn’t be better, and the rooms have the comfiest beds and a great shower! We loved it so much that we have just booked again for a festive weekend in December! Thanks for a lovely stay 🥰

Hidden gem in the heart of the old town. Tucked off the main road Self service check in was simple and went by without any problems. We had room 2 which had a double bed, tv, kettle and double shower. We did not eat here so cannot comment We did have a mishap when the bed broke but that was quickly rectified following a phone call to the owners. Definitely a high end accommodation in the heart of Whitby

5 star room and service!!! Absolutely perfect! Text messaging from owners on day of arrival! Just loved our attic room! Would definitely return! The location is perfect right in the centre of the town parking is expensive at £9 for 24 hrs! But there could be parking cheaper if you know the area!!! Loads of pubs, cafes nearby! Very dog friendly, which suited us with our little jack Russel!!!

We stayed for Goth Weekend in Dove Cottage opposite the Bistro. It is a lovely cottage equipped with all you need. Lovely furnishings throughout, comfy sofas in lounge. Decor has a lovely marine feel. Large bathroom with great shower. Spotless throughout. Slept really well as beds were very comfortable. There were 4 of us ( 2 couples) but they have a 3rd (kids) bedroom with bunk beds, they think of everything as there were loads of toys in cupboard just outside room, what a great idea. It is in a prime location surrounded by shops and pubs plus close to Abbey steps. We would definitely stay here again. Thankyou for a fab stay.

We stayed for 2 nights in the old dispensary, which was wonderful. Quirky, comfy and just far enough front the street that it is quiet at night but also right in the centre of it all. Pros- bed is SUPER comfy! Quirky and beautiful house with all you need for a base camp as you explore. TV, shampoo provided, tea and coffee, fridge. We were very happy with it. Cons- low roofs and tight steep stairs, but this is typical of this kind of property and part of the charm. Very small toilet and shower room, but the shower is a rainfall shower and it adds to the charm. Overall - would 100% stay again. If you are looking for unique, beautiful and intimate, this is for you.

Pillows very flat, i needed 3 to be comfortable, room very clean and has everything you would want/need. Kettle and mugs etc to make a drink, bathroom good and clean, tv is a good size for the room, ironing board and iron available when needed, staff pleasant and no issues, only complaint would be other guests being noisy and room smelling of food from the kitchen. Overall decent for price and cannot complain, is in a good location.

It's the second time this year we have stayef at Sanders Yard, Good size room with a comfy bed. Modern bathroom with a powerful rainfall shower and hand held device. Great location on the Abby side of Whitby, no hills to climb, Also you get a discount at the adjacent cafe which is no longer part of the accomodation. Definitely stop again.

Had two nights in room 3 Sanders Yard Pros.. nice size room Central location off the cobbles on Church st Quality brand new mattress amazing nights sleep Large shower Lovely toiletries Lots of free coffee yorkshire tea hot chocolate milk and quality biscuits Hairdryer Lovely warm bedroom Use of iron and board if needed (kept on landing) Cons.. No heating in bathroom very very cold not a problem in summer but a small wall heater for winter would be good. Only one chair in the room we luckily found a spare one on the landing and borrowed it this room is plenty big enough for two cosy chairs Also a small fridge would be great there is room for one with two chairs in this room. There's a bottle opener and two nice wine glasses) I was pleased to see but no where for keeping your wine/beers cool. All in all this was a lovely weekend away in pleasant surroundings and friendly staff we met the owner a lovely guy. We would recommend this room.
