Just stayed here for one night as a group of 4 couples. The location was very good as it was near the city centre. The inn has a bar downstairs serving food and consists of several small rooms. The building is very old on several floors. Check in wasn't until 3pm but we we allowed to leave our bags until...

Loved the Lamb & LIon - perfect location next to Gilly Gate and only 2 minutes from Minster, delicious food (would recommend the deal including dinner), comfy bedrooms, friendly staff. Very enjoyable stay and look forward to going back.

We booked our 10th wedding anniversary at hat we thought looked like a picturesque inn on the city walls. However, it was far from perfect. There was no hot water for a shower so my wife had to use another room, which hadn't been cleaned. The Internet didn't work at all for the whole 2 days we were there even...

There are very few inns with such an historic location, situated "adjacent" to Petergate a medieval gatehouse to the city of York. Car parking at Marygate is just a 10 mins walk away. The Lamb & Lion Inn has all the charm of an 18th Century inn with comfortable rooms and good food and beers. The staff are friendly and...

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Lion and Lamb and whilst it's a very nice looking place on the surface , in the bedrooms it's very different.. We had room 6 and we paid over £150 per night so not cheap .. only one bedside table no draws to put any clothes in so basically lived out...

Having a shopping day to York we were not sure where would be good for a late lunch. Walking around we could only see coffee shops in the centre. However by chance we passed this pub. Walking in the tables were occupied but this place has many small rooms. Soon we were seated and ordered a bottle of wine. The...

We are terribly sorry that Lamb & Lion Inn was not the place for you. Our building dates back from 1782, I believe you either love period properties and all they have to offer or you should book a modern hotel. We do have an alcove in some of our bedrooms as wardrobes, to maximise the space of the bedroom...

Having dropped our bags off early (book in 1500hrs onwards) they were in our room when we returned with the credit card a little scorched Our room upgrade (no 3 at the rear of the property so much quieter than the front - see other review) was really cozy and had everything we needed, including drinks, toiletries, large shower and...

Lovely cozy rooms...loads of character and amazing location just inside the old wall and within minutes of the Minster and Shambles. Steak and ale pie is a must...and if you're there during winter have a mulled wine. Exactly what an English inn should be. There are lots of stairs ...pack light and be ready to climb. The staff very nicely...

My wife and I visited this pub on the 23rd December and found that everyone was very welcoming. The drink prices were slighty higher than expected but the clientel were good and there are rooms to rent which looked very good.
