My wife booked a one night stay at The Lamb and Lion. Communication before arrival was very good and informative especially about car parking. Marygate car park is between 5 and 10 minutes away and on checkout you are given a code to exit the car park at a cost of £9.50, very good value for almost a 24 hour...

I stayed in a single room for one night for a work function having enjoyed the amazing food and beers in the past. To find a room anywhere in York on a Friday in party season for £89 is an achievement. To find such a welcoming place, beautifully presented room and awesome cooked breakfast was such a treat. The room...

I love the location of the Lamb and Lion. Traditional pub with cosy feeling and atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful and hospitable and the food was really good and wholesome. The room I was in was warm, clean and functional and did not live to the rest of my experience, but reflected in the price. I look forward to...

We have stayed here before under its previous incarnation 4 High Petergate. So it was with a little trepidation we booked. Glad we did, the Staff were really friendly & made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was very clean & the bed really comfortable. As other people have mentioned it can be quite noisy in...

This was booked as a surprise by my husband for our 36th wedding anniversary. I love history and quirky places so this inn fitted the bill to a tee. Location is excellent along with the food and friendly staff. It is just little things that stopped me rating it as a 5. We had the attic room (12) and do...

Very friendly comfortable pub. Ate lunch on our arrival and breakfast the following morning. all good food, delicious and plenty of it. The pun is just inside the city walls, ideal for sightseeing. The pub is very quirky and in keeping with the lovely city of York.

Positives first, Great food both evening meal and breakfast, delicious and piping hot, excellent and very helpful staff, great location for shops, cathedral and general sightseeing. Not so positives, our room was very small, it was adequate for a 1 night stay but we stayed 2 nights and it was starting to feel cramped, the room was cleaned to a...

Nice accomodation, the rooms were very carefully and tastefully decorated and had everything you could need , hair dryer iron and ironing board. Also in the most perfect part of York right under the old walls. I would like to go back in the summer as the garden looked so inviting. Definitely a nice and surprising find .
