Many travelers commend York Caravan Park YCP for its immaculately clean facilities, particularly the spacious and private shower rooms with consistently hot water. Guests have called out the hotel's service, mentioning the helpful and friendly staff and well-kept amenities. However, some visitors feel that the site fees and electricity costs are on the higher side, affecting the overall value of their stay. While the amenities, including the toilet facilities, earn rave reviews for cleanliness and maintenance, occasional concerns are raised about the reliability of the bus service.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this fantastic adults only site. Large individual serviced pitches, shower rooms and toilets that are always spotlessly clean, free wifi and very helpful staff.
The service bus between York and Scarborough passes the entrance, currently every hour. As we were planning on going into York most days we purchased a York area 7 day unlimited travel ticket for £19 each.
Wardens Neil and Andrea went out of their way to help our friends who arrived late due to car problems, for which we are very grateful, and they were both a valuable source of local information.
Having booked the holiday last November, we were within two minds about cancelling due to the current situation, however we needn't have worried, everywhere was so clean.
If we stay near York again we will definitely stay here.

I'm currently staying onsite here. This place is lovely to stay at. We are here in our campervan. There is space between the pitches which are separated with hedgerows. You feel you have plenty of room between yourself and others. The toilet and shower facilties are very clean. There are massive individual shower rooms which also include a loo and sink with a hairdryer. You can tell these are cleaned more than regularly. There is also easy access to water and electricity on the pitch aswell. The free WiFi is good aswell.

The site is in a great location to get to York Centre by Bus. There is a bus stop outside the site. You can get the 843 Coastliner bus into York approximately every hour for about £7.80 return for 2 adults. The buses return each hour and the bus drivers know the stop aswell.

We will definitely stay here again. Very peaceful and lovely site.

We had originally booked for 2 nights online and then asked for an extra night on the day of booking a few weeks ago. We were told we might have to move pitches during our stay which we were OK with. On arrival we were told we could stay on the same pitch which is awesome.

We booked a pitch here in jan this year not knowing what was to come
We were in two minds whether to come or not glad we did
The camp site is clean staff friendly. The shower and toilet block is very good with large shower rooms including a loo and sink. There is also a separate male and female showers and loos, washing room etc.the camp is quiet but you can hear traffic noise.
The staff deep cleaned all areas on a regular basis. Well worth a visit as the camp is central to all attractions in and around York

We have just returned from a week at this lovely site.
Great bus links into York, £9 taxi.
The site is laid out well with large pitches for tents, caravans and motor homes. All pitches have electric and water.
We had a hard standing pitch with grass, our large tent was lost on it!
The bathrooms are large with shower, toilet, hairdryer, seat and sink.
There is a small enclosed field for the dogs to run in and poo bins around.
The wash up room has two sinks, washing machine and dryer, iron and board.
There is road noise as mentioned, but that road gets you quickly to places, and we only heard it at night when the site fell silent, it was so silent!!
There is a small fishing lake with fishes and ducks.
All in all would recommend this site to any adults who prefer to camp in peace and so convenient to York and the moors.

Our second time staying here. Very quiet adult only campsite set around a lake. Good sized grass and gravel individually hedged pitches, large, very clean individual shower rooms, which is helpful during these social isolation times. Best from our point of view just a 3 mile, flat cycle ride directly down Stockton Lane right to the Minster. Great for easy access and sight seeing in York. The staff put themselves out to be helpful. Recommended.

This caravan park, although a little expensive, is a fabulously well maintained site with excellent facilities. Although it seemed quite a lot of wasted space, the toilets and showers were exceptionally clean and well laid out. Unfortunately one of the washing machines was not working so there was a little wait but still very good. The bus stop to York and Scarborough is just outside the entrance so extremely well appointed to visit the surrounding area. The lady in charge at reception was extremely friendly and helpful. It’s also an ideal place for those Caravanners and Motorhomers with pets as there is a dog exercise area. Also if you’re a fisherman, the lake on site is an ideal spot to relax next to.
I would highly recommend this park.

Thanks for stopping. We are glad you found our site to be well maintained, exceptionally clean, spacious and made good use of the convenient bus. The washing machine door handle was broken by a guest, but a new handle has now been fitted - we are glad you were able to make use of one of the other machines for the 3 days in between though. All the best.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Its in a great place to see all the sites in and around York. There is a bus stop right outside the site that goes into the centre. We drove in and managed to park really easily - £7.50 for 3 hours. York itself is a nice City and the river trips at 1 hour give you a different perspective. The site is really well spaced out and every pitch is large and fully serviced. The showers are huge and have a toilet and basin in as well. They are also ones that you put on and they stay on with out the annoying button that you have to press on some to keep the water flowing! The site was nicely maintained and VERY clean. There is a security barrier at the entrance. There is a huge retail park just up the road. We went to a market at Malton that is on the second Saturday of each month and picked up some really different food things. Benningborough Hall is also nice for a day trip. We took our dog and walked round the grounds for miles and then went for lunch at the NT cafe on site. Food was lovely but for two mains (club sandwich and a burger) and two puds (brownie and bakewell tart) plus a couple of drinks £45 seemed a bit pricy. The staff were very friendly and its certainly a site that we will come back to.

We are here at the moment. The latest of many visits. The site is immaculately kept, the pitches are large and fully serviced. The toilet block is large with individual huge shower rooms. Good Covid safety features in place.
The wardens are very friendly, and Andrew the owner pops on site and is very approachable.
There's a bonus fishing pond, with some big fish, but you have to be on your 'A' game to catch them.
No shop onsite, no point, as all the major supermarkets are 5 minutes away.
A stone baked pizza van, visits on Friday evening.....delicious and good value. There's a bus stop outside the site entrance....15 minutes into York..
I would recommend this site 100%

The site was kept very clean. The facilities were clean and spacious, however, the showers were closed due to Coronavirus. The pitches were all well laid out and very spacious. All pitches came with electricity and water. It is situated 2 miles outside of York.
I have 2 negative comments. Firstly there was only one recycle and waste point located at the entrance. I could find no other bins. Secondly, upon arrival I asked if the VAT reduction had been passed on to me resulting in a lower price. I was told that it hadn't. I understand they are not ordered to pass this reduction on but only encouraged to do so, however it doesn't sit well with me.

I'm sorry that you have given a negative review. The VAT reduction has been passed on to our customers by way of reduced pitch fees - if it hadn't been for the reduction, the 2021 pitch fees would have had to be higher. It was made clear by the government that the VAT reduction was to help businesses affected by lockdown and their total loss of revenue for large periods or 2020 and 2021. We are still very good value for money and when compared to the local caravan club sites, we are approx £10 per night cheaper, yet we provide better facilities. When the VAT rate goes back up again, we will NOT be passing on this rate increase to our guests. Regarding the recycling point - as a small site we have found that the facilities we provide are adequate, and I believe this is the first time where anyone has mentioned they would like more bins.

Our first time at this park but certainly not our last, individual shower/toilet block is the biggest/cleanest weve used. Bus stop outside took 12 to 15mins to York was £3.90 return pp, ..love the idea of the bins being at the entrance and not part of your view from caravan window like our last bank hol visit to a local park . Found a costcutter 1.5 miles down the road for a paper then saw a sign at camp saying text this number and they can be delivered to your
pitch for a small fee lol .the dog sealed off exercise area a big attraction for me as ours needs off lead exercise.
A Friendly couple who run it , also lent me a water tap connection as I forgot
mine , looking fwd to a
return soon.

Are the hardstanding pitches suitable for tents
Answer from Andrew

Yes they are - the surface is 'pea gravel' and is easily big enough for a tent. Just remember to bring rock pegs and not grass pegs :) There is grass at the side to sit out on too.

Yes, we are open in November. Our site licence is from 15th March to 8th January. Our opening dates are on our website too, however I'm unable to put our website on this answer due to TripAdvisor policies. If you search for YorkCaravanPark and our post code (YO329UB), you should easily find us :)

Hi Steve, Yes, we allow dogs. The nearest pub is half a mile away - it allows dogs in their beer garden but not indoors. The nearest pub that allows dogs indoors is called The Fox Inn - it is approx 1.5 miles away. You can get a bus from our site entrance to the pub in just 4 minutes, and they allow dogs on the bus too! There are lots of dog friendly pubs in York City Centre, which is just 2 miles from our campsite (10 mins on the bus). You can book over the phone (01904424222) or online through our own website. TripAdvisor doesn't allow ud to add it on here, but if you search for 'York Caravan Park' you should find it easily. Many thanks, and hope to see you some time!
