Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here a few times now and it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly, and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable plenty tea and coffee and if you run out there’s more at reception. Minimal noise other people coming and going that’s about it. A fridge in the rooms would be very welcome. Check out 12pm fab, and we was allowed to use the car park until 5pm. The breakfast was the best I’ve had in a long time, plenty choice and plenty of it, and of good quality. Kirsty never stopped topping things up. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you

The free car parking was very welcome. Hotel appearance good & breakfast good. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Only issue was having to pay extra for WIFI, after 30 mins free use. Would go again.

Perfect stay. Fab location, friendly staff, very clean rooms with just what you need in and good size, the tea, coffee milk facility in the rooms was much welcomed. Had a great night's sleep, from someone who struggles sleeping usually, the beds were very comfortable, the room temp just right and no noise heard in corridors. The hotel felt very secure too, when you have to use your room card to enter the corridor to the rooms during the day and use your room card to enter even the reception and hotel at night, as a woman traveller this felt very secure. Breakfast was delicious, hot and plentiful and great value. Pleasant atmosphere, relaxed and calm in the dinning area. Will definitely return here and recommend, great value for money you can't beat.

Usual good clean room. However....the parking is always full so you're lucky to get a space and the male receptionist was incredibly rude! I did report it to Travelodge but they refused to do anything about it and didn't even apologise!! I like York but would never stay here again

Had a great stay at this newly refurbed hotel! Excellent bar staff could not do enough for you! We like it so much we even had our evening meal at the hotel rather than go out! Food was excellent! Had great nights sleep 😴 and did not have any noise whatsoever!

The Travelodge is in an excellent location for the city having stayed here before. Recently had a refurbishment but only change to the room I stayed in was new curtains and new chair. The bathroom extraction fan constantly ran even after turning the light off. The bathroom fittings had been put on the wrong way round and since the day of arrival staying 5 nights the soaps remained empty! On putting the top me up sign out the toilet rolls didn’t even get topped up and I had to ask for them at reception! We arrived early and I went in to book the car registration and on approaching the reception the duty manger who was Eastern European was very sharp in the way she spoke about check in time. Breakfast was good and the dining area was very bright and colourful.

The shower pressure is out of this world and everything sparkles due to recent refurbishment. Bed is huge and super comfy. Staff friendly and always at hand. Onsite cafe and bar is handy. Only had the breakfast which is ok but a bit limited. Gluten and Lactose free options would be nice but appreciate it might push prices up. I've stayed in 4 star hotels that were way below in terms of standards and general hospitality. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting York.

The hotel staff were lovely, room was great, nice and clean. Toilet was rubbish, has to be flushed 3 or 4 times for a small amount of loo roll Disabled parking is atrocious, several work vans parked in the way with a tiny space for a couple of disabled bays. Our car is fairly small and we really struggled getting in and out, I dread to think what it would be like with a family car! Not only is the space tiny bit Weetherspoons next door have loads of heavy tables outside blocking most of the access, I couldn't move them to be able to get out of the space. Then, a large lorry parked across the exit making us wait 15 minutes before we could leave, she could easily have pulled forward a bit to let us out, instead she just carried on doing what she was doing.

Lovely hotel, clean, spacious, nice staff. I was allocated a room on the top floor. My only issue with the room was that at night, the air con/heating sounded as if there was a washing machine constantly in use above the room!
