An earlier check in would have been great, 3pm when you've been travelling for hours seems a bit late if the room is cleaned and ready to accept. Better directions / address to the reception & property needed (not just city centre York!). I phoned ahead of arrival and couldn't speak to anyone. Left a message and no one phoned back.
The rooms looked clean at a glance but on closer inspection they could have done with more attention.
The main bed felt really uncomfortable with the springs but having said that I still slept OK.
Noise from the above guests (and they weren't being loud on purpose) but when they walked across the floors or switched on a plug socket you could hear it all. Including them talking. A little off putting.
The cleaning staff who were waiting to enter the apartments the following day were outside talking and smoking a good half hour before the stipulated check out time. Although they weren't talking excessively loud, you could hear their conversation clearly!! Maybe a hint to get out.
The apartment looks tired and could do with a little TLC. The furniture in the bedroom is mismatched and doesn't look great.
Thick dust in the wardrobe where the spare bedding is for the pull out sofa bed.
When we did pull out the sofa bed the last guests had left a stained base sheet on the mattress! Yuck!
The bedding is worn and some grey rather than white.
It's the little things that make you feel the cost doesn't warrant what you get. The apartment should cater for 4 people yet there isn't enough cutlery & some crockery is chipped. Our previous stay here was much more comfortable. The previous stay felt more luxurious and you got a welcome basket. Sad to see this isn't now included. That's a real shame. Those little touches were what made us book again. I think we will consider other self catering / serviced apartments on our next visit for which there are plenty in York Centre.

Also no info leaflets or maps inside, you have to go to reception but the door is locked so not that welcoming. They obviously want minimal contact with guests.
An agreement for discounted parking or to be able to park at the back of our apartment would have been a huge bonus and a key selling factor I think Goodramgate are missing. Even if overnight before staff turn up for work would be helpful.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. Our check in time is 3pm as we have up to 21 apartments to clean at one time however, guests are more than welcome to drop their luggage off and collect keys anytime from 12pm and are more than welcome to check in if the apartment is ready before 3pm. With every booking we receive, we send out instructions as per their location. I have taken the time to copy the information we send on booking.com so you can see how we endeavoured to ensure you went to the correct location. Check in: 3-6pm but you are very welcome to leave your luggage with us and collect your keys from 12 noon onwards at our reception at 1 Lord Mayor's Walk, YO31 7HB. We would be grateful if you could advise us of your time of arrival, so we know when to expect you. If you plan to arrive after 6pm, please ensure that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice. We're very sorry to hear other guests disturbed your stay with noise, we appreciate you were aware they were not being intentionally noisy however, we do have a 24 hour number guests can ring should they feel they are being disturbed by other guests. We are also working very hard on more efficient sound proofing on the apartments as with them being grade II listed we are aware they need some work. Your comments regarding the cleanliness of the apartment is very unusual for our establishment and as mentioned above we do have a 24 hour number guests can call as well as our reception being open from 9am - 6pm everyday, should guests need anything such as extra pots etc. We have passed your comments onto our housekeeping team who will be checking the apartments more thoroughly in future. We sincerely apologise our reception was not open, I can assure you it is not because we want minimal guest contact. Our receptionist was at one of our other apartment locations, however, we are available 24/7 should you need anything from reception. Not all of our apartments have storage for leaflets which is why we keep some in reception as we want to make sure they are accessible to all of our guests. Unfortunately with being in the city we are unable to have our own parking. The space behind our reception belongs to council and is permit parking only where residents to surrounding properties park and in regards to the local car park, with that being a council car park we can not control the pricing for that. We recommend that one as it is the closest to our reception and apartments however, guests are more than welcome to find a car park more suitable for them. We're very sorry to hear you do not plan on returning. Kind regards Goodramgate Apartments

We stayed in Hadrian’s Den - a 2 bedroom apartment. Centrally located apartment in the City of York. Walkable to all major sites. Located in I assume what was a converted industrial building. Easy check in with lock box. Nicely styled and well kept. Good sized bedrooms. Comfy beds. Good sized comfortable living area. Compact kitchen incl oven, hob and dishwasher - cookware sufficient to make a simple meal. Size was suitable for an overnight stay for our family of 6 - 3 adults, 3 kids. Public parking 5 minute walk away (roughly £20 for 24 hours). The late check in (3pm) and early check out (10am) was restrictive. No obvious luggage holding facility after check out, although we have subsequently been advised that they do offer this facility, but charge for it, which as a family who travel very regularly, find very usual (£3 per bag!).

Absolutely fantastic place to stay whilst in York. First off I always stay in a Travelodge / Holiday Inn but decided having older children we needed more space and more of the home comforts. Booking was simple and check in very easy nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend a stay here and will be back. The location is right next to the city walls and a Sainsbury's is 5 min walk away. York itself isn't huge so everything is accessible via foot from this location. The road outside can be a little noisy but it's a city centre and to be expected. TV did have a few signal issues but we weren't there to watch TV. We stayed in the Guy Fawkes apartment and it was exactly as pictured and was great to make use of the sofa bed so we all had our own place to sleep. Towels, toiletries, iron, hairdryer, tea, coffee all provided absolutely fantastic. Hope to be back soon..

We recently stayed in Ebor Mews for my hen do (didn't really spend that much time in the apartment as we were mostly out in York) however it was alright. It's actually great to find a place that accepts stag and hen dos (they even let you decorate the apartments) there are lots of facilities and amenities to tidy up iron and ironing board etc, dishwasher. I would say there needs to be more long life milk left as there wasn't enough of that. We booked for 6 adults but there was only 4 of us in the end and there still wasn't enough. The beds are comfy and everything was really clean. It's not outdated, but I would say the living room could do with a decor refurb. Checked in 30 mins before the check in time as the apartment was ready. 10am check out is too early so we booked a 12 noon check out for an extra £20. The only annoying thing is you have to pay £100 for any damages which is then refunded when you leave (but takes 3-5 days to get it back) it's not even a pre-auth on a card it literally comes out of your bank on that day. This is my only complaint really. The rooms were red hot, can't open the windows as they are original windows and were stuck so the fans were helpful.

I just wanted to start by saying that the apartment is in an amazing location and it appeared to be a great place to stay upon arrival. I have never felt as tho I have needed to complain after a break however, the cleanliness and functionality of the ‘luxury apartment’ was not up to scratch.

My son cut his foot open on glass in the living room when walking past the T.V we subsequently began to search for more glass and upon moving the sofas we found several more pieces along with a lot of waste wrappers and general dirt from previous guests. My daughter then found a bra left behind under her bed and some ear phones on the bedside table.

Further Findings

Kitchen
Chairs around the table are all broken or loose
Fridge has broken parts and very dirty
Cutlery dirty
Plates dirty
Oven very dirty and grill does not work
Sharp metal protruding around the steps leading to the exit door, covered in duct tape

Bedrooms
Staining on bedding
Belongings from previous guests left under beds and on side tables

Bathrooms
Mould and loose fixtures in all

Living area
debris accumulated over several months under cushions around the fold out bed
Sweet wrappers and dirt under all sofas
Broken glass around the tv and under sofas

Balcony
Broken glass on the floor
Windows dirty
Broken or loose fixings on patio furniture

To summaries I feel that the overall standard of the property is far from luxury, I am not the kind of guest who will intentionally go out of my way in order to find faults but there were so many problems that it was impossible to miss them.
We should be able to walk around an apartment bare foot without risk of getting glass in our feet and the apartment should be fit for purpose in terms of having working appliances.

After taking the issues up with the management they offered me a £50 refund which I declined. They then offered me a discounted future stay which was worth £38 if I was to spend another £500 with their company, which I refuse to do.

Absolutely lovely stay in St Mary’s Keep. Fantastic apartment, very spacious with everything you need. Kitchen is well equipped, it even had a dishwasher and washing machine. A nice touch was the tea and coffee provided and the washing up liquid, dish cloth and tea towel which you don’t often get elsewhere.

Bedrooms were spacious and comfy with a hairdryer provided and lots of towels. Lovely living area with lots of seating and a TV.

So much better than a hotel, particularly for families as you have the facility to make a nice leisurely breakfast and it’s a great base to chill out in the evening once the kids have gone to bed. We had a Tesco delivery on the first day with breakfast foods, some snacks and a few beers.

Location was great, it’s right in the centre and only a 10 min easy walk from the railway station. We will definitely stay here again and will be recommending to our friends.

We booked Tower Mews for my sisters bridal shower as it is a great location and affordable price. Sonia and the team accomdated us really well. When I enquired she sent me a variety of options which made it much easier for me organising! & even when our numbers fluctuated she let us change the booking time and overall price, no issues at all.

The flat itself was really high spec - exactly like the pictures. Everything was really clean & very spacious it accommodated the six of us well. There would have been space for more if needed. Milk, coffee and tea were provided which was handy for guests when we arrived!

We had an afternoon tea booking at 2pm and I asked Sonia if there was any chance we could check in early/ drop our bags off early and she was very helpful and arranged to have our flat cleaned first so we could move stuff in at 1:30pm! This made we could decorate the flat early ready for the bride which made things much easier.

Overall a 10/10 stay I would recommend to anyone looking to get this flat booked we had a lovely visit. No complaints at all. Thank you to Sonia and her team!

Stayed in the Jorvik suite. Amazing location literally next top the Monks barr wall gate.

Spacious, clean an ideal base of operations for a stay.

Great rainfall shower, good to wash away the dust from, your travels into the shambles or your your of the minster which is literally 5 minutes away.

I cant recommend it highly enough, we got a good price for two nights at a total of £260.00 total on 21/098/202 - 22/01/2021.

Check is easy; with the reception located at the end of the street. Friendly staff very attentive.

We had an issue with hot water and they had an engineer with us in under thirty minutes and the issue resolved and this was at 21:30 in the evening and we'd been out all day and lamented the thought of being without a hot shower, one out of hours call and it was sorted in minutes.

Free wifi in the property which was fine for our needs.

The kitchen has a washer dryer, microwave, fridge (no freezer) oven/grill and toaster.

Basically you are all set if you want to be a bit budget conscious and rather than dining out you want to nip to the Sainsbury's which is 5 minutes away on foot.

We stayed at the monkbarr car park which is about 5 mins away from the reception & property and while pricey at £43.50 was very convenient.

I cant recommend this apartment.

I suspect wheel chair access would be an issue as we were staying in the apartment on the the top of three flights of very narrow stairs, and I don't recall seeing anyway round that.

Though I imagine if the bottom floor suite is available that would be less of an issue.

It can get a little loud in the mornings as businesses unload goods into the street below.

The lounge will have a consistent hum of the boiler which you would not want to switch off but for heavy sleeps this is no issue. This in no way detracts from what is an amazing property for your York sojourn.

If mobility is an issue for you, the Jorvik suite is not the best choice for you. See if they have anything available on the bottom floor.

We had a lovely time staying at this appartment, lovely roll top bath, oak beams and everything needed in the kitchen. Only problem is that there is a night club directly opt therefore it's really noisy till 2am even on a Tuesday night with drunk noisy students and banging music. Whilst the owners of the appartment carnt do anything about this if your a light sleeper forget going to bed early as the club is open every night.
Brilliant location to all attractions in york and public carpark is a good 5 mins away £15 for 24 hrs.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We're glad to hear you had a lovely time at Goodramgate. We appreciate our central location isn't going to suit everyone; it's difficult to block noise in the centre of the city, in a Grade II listed building. We're thankful for your understanding on this point. We have since installed extra glazing on the windows and provide earplugs should guests require them. We can't wait to host you in the near future. Kind regards, The Goodramgate Team

Hi There is parking at the rear of the hotel. On your left on the one way street. Parking is 12 pounds until 10am the next day. 15 pounds until 2pm next day or 20 pounds for 24 hours parking. Staff are really helpful and not rude at all. I have just stayed there last night.
