Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really awesome location, right opposite York Minster. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Brilliant breakfast included in room with breakfast option, plenty of choice of full English, bacon and/or sausage sarnies, eggs benedict, eggs on toast etc etc. Car valet parking (£25 per night) and £15 for a dog per evening, which is very reasonable. We paid a bit extra to have a room with a view (Feature Double) and it was a fantastically large bedroom and ensuite with a direct view looking at the Minster. We were impressed that we were able to select a good room (as we were travelling with our dog). Tea and coffee provided in the room, along with a bar fridge. The only problem we had was using the WiFi but it did say to contact the front desk for help if there was a problem. The staff could not have been more helpful, really lovely experience and we would definitely return.

Such a lovely hotel in a great location with a warm welcome. Room was clean and fresh, with everything you need. We didn't book a room with a view but you only have to go downstairs for the view. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice, I had eggs Florentine which was lovely.

What an amazing hotel, set right next to the Minster. You could always find your way back with such a useful landmark next door. I went for my 40th birthday and they upgraded us to a family room for free. It was a quiet mid-week stay so there wasn't any kids running around or loud noisy guests. A huge comfy bed and a big bath to relax in too. Shower pressure was great too! Frank the concierge was always happy to help and couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The hotel offered us a free drink each if we chose not to have the room serviced, which was good because we didn't make a mess anyway. Loads of choice for breakfast and we had an amazing view of the square while eating. Everything was spotless and well maintained. Will be definitely recommending to our friends and family

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dean Court. Friendly staff, clean room with a fabulous view of York Minster. Nice shower, comfortable bed and it was lovely to hear the Minster bells chime. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious. I had venison and it was cooked to perfection. Great location for sightseeing and valet parking available.

Arrived early but was able to check in as room was ready. Car valet service was excellent as were the staff. The room was small but comfortable and clean. So the perfect hotel for a relaxing stay. On checkout the car was delivered to the door and bags loaded we were off without any stress.

The room was very small and cramped. The hotel obviously didn't want to spend money on housekeeping. The receotionist tried to tempt/persuade guests to refrain from having the room cleaned, in stead they would get a free drink in the evening.

So impressed with this fabulous hotel! Extremely friendly and helpful staff, Ben looked after us well. The food was superb, the place was immaculate. Can't wait to stay there again. Great location too, right next to the Minster and right into the shops etc. Good for disabled visitors too as there is a lift and friendly staff offering to help. Nothing was too much trouble. Loved it.
