Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our journey from Epsom, London, was planned with the expectation of an early check-in, for which we paid extra to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience. However, upon our arrival in York and after a 30-minute walk to your hotel, we were confronted with a flooded entrance. It was only when I called the hotel for assistance that I was abruptly informed of the hotel's closure. This was the first and only communication I received about this critical issue. This lack of prior notification left us stranded and in distress, desperately seeking alternative accommodation. The resultant inconvenience and additional expense of securing last-minute lodging was not only stressful but also significantly tarnished what was meant to be a joyous celebration. The email I received two days later, merely confirming the cancellation and refund, does not compensate for the substantial inconvenience and additional costs incurred. I understand the flooding is unavoidable and unfortunate however there should be effective communication in plenty of time. I trust Roomzzz Hotel acknowledges the severity of this situation and will offer a resolution that reflects a commitment to customer satisfaction.

What’s not to like, perfect position on river, (albeit floods happen, but it’s York, goes with territory), reception staff lovely, friendly and helpful, spotless and comfy foyer with complementary hot drinks, a shop to purchase forgotten essentials and snacks, the room we had was beautiful, and like the rest of the hotel spotless, everything’s provided the bathroom stocked, kitchenette stocked, we loved it and will definitely return, thanks for a lovely if brief stay.

Lovely apartments about a 10-15 minute walk to the centre along the river. Nice and modern. Very clean. Good service overall. Nice touch offering croissants and coffee in the morning. Would definitely stay again and highly recommended.

We were upgraded to a loft apartment and honestly this absolutely made our stay ten times better. I slept like a baby. The rooms are comfortable, clean and stylish. My little chihuahua seemed happy and comfortable here as she is a little skittish away from home. We will be back for my birthday in May.

Shocking experience, still waiting for a refund from the floods. Constantly ignored and passed from pillar to post. DO NOT STAY HERE PLEASE. Manager and assistant manager are never there. What is the point of having them.

We loved Roomzzz York. It is about a 10 minute walk to the city, but the scenery next to the river is lovely. Our room was very big and could comfortably fit a Super King bed and a double sofa bed in the room. There's a small kitchen with a microwave and hob and a nice bathroom with a big shower. We stayed on the 4th floor - it was very quiet. The complimentary croissant in the morning and the 24hr free hot drinks - amazing! Lovely service from all the staff. Loved it.

We stayed here last night with friends while visiting the Christmas market. The apartment was excellent. It was spacious, clean and had everything you need for self catering. The location is ideal and a pleasant 10-12 minute walk to the shops and bars. We had some questions about York and asked the receptionist. She was super helpful and made us feel so very welcome with all her help. She was called Daisy, and is a credit to the place.
